CHAPTER 3
"You don't have to come with me. I can figure this out on my own." I say as the both of us step into the long hallway of students.
"You know that I can't let you do that." He straightens his black suit before putting his palm on my lower back. "-I know where the office is. You stay close to me, got that?" I role my eyes.
"Why would there be anyone who wants to harm me.. here?"
"You will never know." Gin shrugs. Seriously?
"I am eighteen, Gin. I can protect myself."
"No, you can't." He ends the conversation there. He seems to know a lot more about me than I thought. Though, it is his job..
I sigh mentally. Now I understand why rich kids hate bodyguards- They just dig into your life, appear out of nowhere and disturb your peace.
"You are making me look bad." I mumble as my eyes drift through the students who keep looking at me like I am an alien.
"Doing my job, Alex."
"You talk too much." I groan in annoyance. Gin stops before turning to face me.
"Then what should I do to stop myself?" He steps closer until our breaths mingle with the other. His coffee and minty smell envelop my nostrils.
I push him back, pressing my hand onto his strong chest. So hard. I shake my thoughts away before pointing a figure at him like a mother scolding her child.
"You do as I say. That's all." I huff before continuing down the hall. Gin follows me immediately.
What was that just now? So hard? Really Alex?
"Alex.."He calls my name after a few moments of silence.
"What did I just say!?"
"The reception is the other way." I clear my throat before changing direction.
Gin laughs to himself before mumbling the type of description that no male wants to hear. "Cute."
Pretending to not hear anything, I continue to walk- my speed increases every minute.
"Alex, you missed the turn." Gin sighs before grabbing my forearm and dragging me to the correct direction.
A few minutes later, we have safely arrived to the office.
"Why is it so far from the entrance?" I pant, gasping for air. Gin chuckles before turning my head to the direction that we came from.
"The door is right there. You were the one who walked in circles." I pout, annoyed at my own childish behavior in front of my bodyguard.
Gin knocks on the office door. We wait outside until we hear the words that let us in.
When we enter the office, I notice how welcoming and stylish it is designed. It definitely gives the vibes of a counselor's room. I am not saying that I have been to one.
"Ah! You must be our new student!" The young lady behind the desk welcomes us. "-Please sit." The both of us obediently do as she says.
"You are Alex, correct?"
"Alexander." I correct her. Only people who are close to me have the permission to call me Alex- Or in any other nickname.
"Right.-" She pulls out my files from the drawer and puts them on the desk neatly before she begins looking through them. "-You have been home-schooled since the age of 12. Your grades are impeccable. Incredible learning skills and great manners. It's not written that you are anti-social. So if may I ask, why were you home-schooled for the past six years?"
"I-" Gin interrupts.
"I am sorry, but these are actions that were decided by his father. He had reasons. I clearly remember telling you to not ask about his private life, miss.." Gin's eyes drift to her desk- where her name and the role at school were written in big letters. "-Lesley."
Lesley gulps in fear. Gin's eyes were saying a lot as he glared bullets at her- One motive was clearly showing. He will kill her. And she knows he can do it.
"Gin!" I grab his hand quickly. "-Calm down. You can't be like this to anyone who approaches me. I need to socialize too."
Gin looks at me before sighing.
"Fine." He sighs again before gripping my hand in return.
"I am so sorry for him." I apologize quickly. "-Just give me the papers and we'll be on our way." Lesley nods before handing me everything and letting us go.
"Why did she give me these also?" Everything that she needs to know about me, was easily given back to the owner.
Gin leads us out of the building so quickly before I could protest. We were both in the car when I grabbed the sides of his face with my hands, forcing him to look at me.
"What was that about, Gin? Were you trying to scare her to death?!-" Well, it worked. "-And I still have classes, why did you take me back here?"
"I just need to calm down.-" He let his head fall onto my shoulder. "-Let's stay like this for a few more minutes and we can go back." He whispers before wrapping his arms around my waist.
I sigh before patting his head, playing with his hair. I can hear his heavy breathing, slow down. His hold on me tightens.
"What made you so upset anyway?" I broke the silence.
"She doesn't know anything and yet.."
"Of course she doesn't, we just met. She won't know anything as long as it's not written in the files. Lesley was just curious." After another short seconds of silence, Gin speaks.
"Do you remember when you were in an accident six years ago?" How does he know about that?
"Umm.. Yes but what-"
"It was intentional." I gasp.
"W-what are you-"
"I dug into it.-" He spoke into my shoulder, muffling his voice. "-It was a person that was close to your father. He found you interesting so he got close to you. You trusted him enough to tell him everything. That man found you way too knowledgeable about his business- He knew you were a threat and so.. He created that accident." I gulp, fear sparks in my heart.
"But I don't remember anything."
"You lived but you hurt your head so hard that you lost your memories of that day and a few before that. That is the reason that your father has finally decided to home-school you. It was the final straw." Does that mean that something like that happened before?
"What happened to that person?"
"......" By his silence, I can guess his answer quickly and easily. "-Your father got rid of him." I feel like throwing up.
"I-I-I think i-it's best to l-leave for today..." I let out a shaky breath before letting him go.
"I understand. I'll inform the principle." He quickly makes the call before starting the car and driving us home. I was looking through the window all the way back home, avoiding all conversation with Gin.
What a way to start my first day in University.
Your father got rid of him. Your father got rid of him. Repeated in my head like a broken record.
At that night, I couldn't sleep.
