As I entered the classroom one second before the bell, my teacher who was standing behind her high and mighty table gave me a slight glare.
I just grinned at her happy that she wouldn’t be able to have my head for breakfast.
“You better drop that smile and sit at your seat before I give you detention anyway.” She said slightly ticked off.
“Yes ma’am!” I saluted her and walked towards my seat which was all the way in the back next to the window. I sat down and pulled out my math textbook.
Ugh…why do we have math the first thing in the morning? That means that I have to use my brain early in the morning. This is brain abuse!
“Okay, class!” Teach slammed her textbook slightly on the table. “Open your textbook on page 120. Remember this is going to be on the exam.”
…
Few minutes in to the lesson I started to nod off. Teach’s voice was slowly fading away in to the distance as the wind was passing trough the crack of the open window lulling me to sleep.
Before I knew I was drifting away in the darkness. As I was drifting deeper and deeper in to the darkness long strains of shining white hair were fluttering in front of my face catching my attention. My body was drawn to it and before I knew I was swimming in the direction from where they were coming from.
“Where am I?” The strains of hair had brought me to a room which was covered in white walls. Far in to the corner there was bed with a woman wearing a white gown sitting on it.
I slowly approached the woman. As I stood in front of her I was astonished in how much we resembled each other. She had gorgeous long white wavy hair. She looked like she was in her early twenties and had clear hazel brown eyes. I was so mesmerized by her beauty that I didn’t notice the pools of tears streaming down her face.
She stared down at something with so much sorrow. I came closer to see what she was looking at that made her so sad.
My eyes widen seeing her holding a sleeping newborn baby on her lap. She covered her mouth trying to muffle down her crying so she wouldn’t wake up the small creature that had small white baby hair.
“Is that her baby?” I asked myself.
“Ayako.” She said my name with so much sadness, but that sadness was directed towards the baby.
I was confused to what was happening right now. Was it a coincidence that we had the same name?
“I love you so much Ayako.” She sniffled. “and I will always love you, don’t ever forget that.”
She laughed sadly. “Who am I kidding she won’t even remember me.” She was sobbing more after saying that.
She brought the baby closer to her face until they were cheek to cheek as if she was trying to absorb the warmth that was emitting from the baby. “I’m so, so sorry Ayako. Please remember that what ever is going to happen that I did it to keep you safe, my angel, our hope…”
Every sentence that she was saying every tear that was leaving her eyes kept piercing my heart. I didn’t even realize that I was crying this whole time myself.
“Don’t cry…” I said in an inaudible voice.
My body was screaming in pain to go to her, to hug her, anything to stop this aching feeling in my heart.
As I was approaching her people suddenly bust through the door running towards to women pulling her away and taking the baby from her.
She was struggling against their hold.
“No! let me go! Please give me some more time with her!” she screamed trying to pull her self away from the men in lab coats.
The baby started to cry in shock from the sudden commotion.
“Take the baby away.” A man with black rimmed glasses said.
“Don’t you fucking touch her with your filthy hands you animals!” She yelled out the top of her longs.
They started to pull her way from the room. She was too weak to break free from them.
I tried to run towards her and help her, but I was rooted on spot, my voice restricted.
“L-Let her go!” I screamed trying to break free from the invincible force that was holding me down.
“Don’t take her away! Please!” I cried.
They to put her to sleep and carried her out of the room separating the baby from her. Only the cry of the baby resonated in between the walls. With a tear strained face, I looked at the baby who was crying in search for her mom.
“Please don’t take them away from me.” I slouched down on the cold white flour.
“Please give them back to me. Please…” I almost said in a trance.
My face countered in a horrified shock when I saw the eyes of the baby slightly open.
Purple eyes?
I shook my face in denial. “It’s a dream, It’s a dream, it’s a dream.” I covered my ears trying to block the cries of the baby.
“Ayako…” A voice in the distant called for me.
“No.” I said.
“Ayako.”
“No.” I said a little louder.
“Ayako!”
“SHUT UP!” I screamed myself awake.
I was huffing and panting, tears still trailing down my face. I looked around quickly to make sure if I was really awake. The faces of my shocked classmates and a super ticked of teacher who was surprised that I raised my voice against her proofed my awakeness.
I wiped away my tears quickly and laughed awkwardly. “A nightmare.” I said.
I could see the veins of teach almost bursting open. “Who told you to sleep in my class!?” fast as the lightning she threw a chalk at me hitting my forehead.
“Ouch!” I yelled out. My classmates all were laughing at the scene folding in front of them.
Clicking my tongue, I stroked my forehead trying to sooth the throbbing pain. “Brute.” I mumbled.
“What was that?” She asked dangerously.
“Nothing!” I said quickly.
She slightly glared at me and turned around continuing to write what ever she was about to write before she kindly woke me up on the chalkboard.
I slightly slouched down and sighed. I could still feel my heart hammering against my chest, remembering everything of what I’ve just witnessed.
Was it all really a dream? But everything felt so real.
That baby that I saw had white her and purple eyes. Her name was Ayako. No matter how much I’m trying to deny it that baby is me. And that women who resembled me so much, whom I’m feeling such a deep connection for. Is she my….?
My throat clumped up and my lips were trembling scared of what I was about to say, but it was the same word that I was desperately trying to scream out in my dream.
“Mom?”
