Soni laughed when he stared into his embarrassed roommate's eyes. His entire body was soaked with drying mud. Soni threw his book bag on the bed and stuck a hand out to shake his roommates.
"Excuse the mess," he started, knocking as much dirt off his hands before shaking Soni's hand. "I didn't have no control over the situation."
Soni laughed at his roommate's humor. "I'm Soni Zales."
"Marty Presley, but not related to Elvis in any way."
"I like that. Keep people from pestering you." They weren't exactly the same height, Soni noticed. Marty was slightly bigger than himself. He lifts weights or something he thought to himself. His grip is strong.
Marty caught Soni's eyes appraising him, "I played football my last three years of high school," he said answering the question before Soni could ask. "I'm a Georgia boy. Augusta to narrow it down for you. Butler High School." He grinned showing perfectly even white teeth.
Marty's hairstyle reminded him of Thomas, from the orphanage. "The Beatles hairdo," Soni always taunted, quietly laughing to himself. Soni debated if he should tell Marty about his past in brief. He regretted telling his ex-roommate.
"I'm from Nevada, born and raised," he stated simply.
Marty turned back around and continued fishing through his things. "Yeah, I heard about you," he said with his back to Soni. If he could've seen Soni face he might've started laughing.
Soni was confused, "Excuse me?"
Marty grabbed a towel and some clothes to refresh himself. "When the frats snatched me up, they said that they had to check me off their list quickly." Marty stared at Soni for a moment then smiled. "They were watching this room for the past week, waiting to see who your new roommate was going to be. They didn't want you to train me."
Soni laughed uncontrollably for a moment. Marty watched him then walked to the door. Soni was still laughing as he stepped out. Marty stuck his head back in, "you've got some explaining to do when I get back."
Soni cleaned up the mud that was all over the floor and halls, as he had done two years ago, the night of his initiation. By the time Marty got back, the mess was cleaned up and Soni was watching the news on television while lying on his bed. Marty's complexion was a little lighter than Soni's bronze complexion. His hair rained brown all over his round head.
As he unpacked Soni explained the troubles the fraternities had with him. Soni also showed him a copy of the video that was released to all social media platforms, and a newspaper clipping of the then spectacular event.
Marty talked about his troubled past, explaining that his family lives in southern Nevada, in a small city close to the border. His mother had sent him to Georgia to stay with her brother. She had problems trying to raise him in a gang-infested area and knew what would happen when he started to run the streets. She got Marty out before it was too late.
Soni understood the move perfectly. Manipulation gets one into trouble every time, Soni had read somewhere in a philosophy book. It is easy for the youth to lead the youth in an alternate direction. Hell, from what Soni had seen since he'd been in college, anybody could be lead in the wrong direction. He asked Soni how he was able to run for so long, "psychology," he said simply staring at the roof of the now dark room. "I'm aiming for my doctorate."
Marty whistled. "That's a lot of years of school ahead of you, isn't it?" he asked.
Soni sighed shaking his head on the pillow. "I'll graduate early. Maybe by a year and a half or two early at the most. I'm taking summer courses."
"Damn," Marty childish sounding voice said.
Soni could hear him across the room on his bed shuffling under the covers. "You won't have much time for any fun will you?"
"I'm not an outgoing person, you'll soon find out. I'm basically antisocial."
Marty laughed, "yeah right!"
Soni turned his head toward Marty. "So what are you studying for?" There was an uncomfortable moment. "Hey, are you awake?" Soni asked puzzled by Marty's sudden silence.
"Yeah, I'm here," he said sounding agitated.
Soni pressed on sensing Marty's discomfort. "Let me guess. You haven't decided yet?"
There were kids here Soni knew, that were just taking classes just to say they took them. People like that Soni figured usually end up with a future that is forced on them or end up dropping out.
"You're good Soni. Or should I call you doc?"
Soni laughed. That was the first time Doc has ever come up. He found himself liking the sound of it. "Call me whatever makes you feel comfortable," Soni said in a professional manner jokingly.
It was Marty's turn to laugh. "Hey I had a planned on going to college to play football and wrestle, but my legs won't allow me to stay with it. I've also had intentions to stay in Georgia and help my uncle run his auto repair shop." Soni watched as the silhouette of Marty's head slowly shook.
"He told me to get a paper or certificate saying I'm a certified mechanic."
"You're lucky. Your siblings were smart enough to lead you in the right direction even though you want to other things."
"Yeah, I guess you can say that."
"So are you going after the degree? Soni asked.
"Yeah, I guess so. I'm taking classes to get the degree but..." Marty paused a moment.
"But you're already thinking about doing something else, and you're unsure because you don't want to hurt your uncle's feeling."
Marty stared at Soni for about a minute speechless. "Hey, you're not charging me for this are you?"
Soni laughed. "Hey, I'm not psychic or anything like that. I've seen dozen of students that were in the same situation you're now in. Everybody's trying to impress somebody else. Satisfy yourself. If you're not happy you'll be bald from stress before you graduate." Soni and Marty both laughed at Soni's remark.
"How old are you Doc?" Marty asked letting curiosity get the best of him.
"I'm nineteen."
"Damn, we're the same age. How long have you been here?"
"I'll be a junior this year. This is my third."
"Whoa" Marty responded impressed. "I guess your future is all mapped out for you."
It was Soni's turn to be silent for a moment. He had never thought about this future as Marty phrased it. He just knew what he liked. He thought for a moment of where he would be ten years from now. Probably in a cluttered office doing paperwork on a bunch of crazy folks that think the world is out to get them. Soni smiled at the thought.
"That I do," he responded to Marty's accusation.
As time quickly passed Soni and Marty became close friends. They never found themselves arguing as other roommates do over who's cleaning the room, or blasting the radio too loud. Soni watched as Dexter quit or as everybody in his dorm put it, "he never came back after the Christmas holidays."
Soni spoke with Racheal every now and then. She was more straight to the point now. She wanted sex and nothing else.
"Nobody has to know." she had insisted. Soni playfully shook his he slowly, as a second grader would to a stranger.
Rachel didn't run back down easily. She wasn't sleeping with everybody as Soni thought she would. He had only seen her with three guys the entire time they were in school. She must be used to getting what she wanted, he surmised. It didn't surprise him that she graduated after doing six years, for a degree in computer management and programming. She had invited him to an after party but he declined. He showed up for her graduation instead.
But before she left she snuck into his dorm where women weren't allowed and knocked on his door. Marty wasn't there to answer so Soni got up thinking it was one of Marty's friends. He opened the door and stared dumbfounded at Rachel. "You…," before he could finish she pushed him into his room slammed and lock the door.
"It won't do any good to scream. Marty won't be coming back anytime soon and the tenant won't be coming back around for, ooooh," she glanced at her watch, "another three or four hours."
Soni braced himself, throwing his hands up in a fighting stance.
"Stay away from me. I don't want to fight a girl," he stated in a jokingly manner.
She walked seriously toward him. Soni observed that she wore a tan blazer that matched her complexion. Her two-inch heels showed her perfectly toned legs. She began to unbutton her blazer slowly, taunting Soni with her eyes as she continued to walk toward him.
"What did you do to them? Poison them."
"Yep," she answered grinning wickedly at him. "And I found the perfect antidote."
Soni's back touched the wall beside the window. He looked out into the darkness below and saw students walking to their destinations.
"Help," he gasped.
Rachel closed the gap between them quickly and covered Soni's mouth with hers. He tried to fight her off in the beginning but the fight didn't last long. He accepted her pursuit and found a hidden hunger in himself for her also.
He slid a hand around her bare waist recognizing that she had nothing on beneath the blazer. He ran his hands down over her round butt making circular motions with his fingernails. A moan escaped her lips and she broke the kiss.
She forced Soni's shirt off of him and started for the jeans. She snatched the belt from the loop that contained it, tossing it to the floor. She found herself struggling with the button on Soni's pants and nearly whined. "Dammit," she said pulling him from the wall and pushing him on the bed. She cradled him nibbling on his chest. Soni undid his pants, helping her pull them off.
Once they were off Rachel ran her hand over Soni's underwear massaging his erection. Soni groaned, trying to keep it barely audible. The last thing he needed was to be busted by secret orderlies doing a random walkthrough. Soni contained his laughter. He found it funny that he was caught in such a unique situation. It turned him on and she knew it. Rachel helped him with his underwear cradling him again.
She teased Soni, gyrating her hips on his erection. "You like this?" She asked erotically.
Soni nodded as a dog would waiting on his master to drop the meaty bone. "Oh yes," he gasped.
Rachel said the words that he never expected her to. He looked at her differently now wishing that he had given her a chance so long ago.
"Please tell me that you have a condom hidden somewhere in here." Soni hated getting up, rolling her off of him. He rushed over to his roommate's nightstand, retrieving a condom from the drawer. He got back in the bed and started to slide it on. Rachel grabbed his hand taking the comfort from him, "allow me," she said grabbing a hold of his erection and sliding the condom on like a professional. She stared into his eyes completing the task easier than Soni admits ever doing it. Rachel climbed over him again arching her butt into the air guiding Soni into her. Her face was inches from his and she sat down on him accepting all of him.
A glassy film of ecstasy glazed her eyes and she exhaled with finality. She stared into his eyes biting her lower lip as she slowly started gyrating her hips.
"I can't... Can't ...Oh shit," she panted throwing her head back. "I can't believe...You made me... Wait four years...doctor," she said.
"The feeling is mutual," they went at it for three hours. She rested her head on Soni's chest after their last episode.
Soni glanced at his alarm clock. "Rachel," he said tapping her head.
"Hmmm..." She said without looking up.
"What did you do to my roommate, seriously?"
"I sent my girlfriends after him, and after the dorm tenant."
"You sent your troops to rape them?" Soni said shocked, "Ouch! Hey. Stop it!" he yelled in defense as Rachel punched him in the ribs.
She stood up getting dressed. She threw her blazer on and walked to Soni's closet opening it. She ran a hand over the hangers, stopping and pulling one out. She pulled the sweatpants off the hanger, putting the hanger back on the railing. She bent over seductively sliding one leg into each leg of the sweatpants. Soni watches the show impressed.
"I thought you left after the graduation."
"I did." She stated, tying the drawstrings on the sweatpants together. "After you turned me down on the invitation to the graduation party, I couldn't get your face out of my mind. I drove three back here intending to rape you." She said seriously.
Soni was shocked that she drove three hours back for sex with him. He could care less about the rape part. "If you would've called the cops I could've cared less. I would've been ready to serve any sentence they threw at me," Soni laughed.
Rachel slid her two-inch heels back on reaching into her pocket. She threw a folded piece of paper and him. "Call me sometimes," she said stepping through the door.
Soni raised himself up on his elbows watching her leave in his sweats. They didn't look that good on me, Soni thought to himself jokingly. Rachel turned and blew a kiss to him. "Thank you for the best sex I've ever waited for," and closed the door.
Soni fell back into his pillow exhausted. He called every blue moon checking up on how Rachel was doing from a payphone. He had never found it important enough to get a cell phone. He didn't have anybody to call now as it was. He didn't see a need for one as of the moment. Soni and Rachel's phone relationship didn't last long.
A guy named Sanders answered the phone one day and demanded that Soni answered a survey of questions. Soni hung up to never to call again. Jealousy caused problems when you have a good thing.
