An orange and brown Shiba Inu leaped from the dark azalea bushes and gave a battle cry as she sprayed Kraim, Kira and Sel with paintballs from a mini-gun. "Gotcha!" Shino rested the paintball gun on her shoulder and gave the brothers a smug smile.
Kraim wiped his pink and green face onto his sleeve, then grinned widely. "Can I be on your team this time?" Shino rubbed her chin for a moment, then yipped in agreement. Kira nudged Sel with a smirk. "Looks like I'm your teammate tonight." Sel smiled weakly. He had been hoping to stay with his brother.
Shino passed out the paintball guns and jumped up onto a rock. "Normal rules, you get hit and you sit. Tackling and tripping is fine but no punching or kicking... unless you're Sel and Kraim, you two are siblings-- rip each other to pieces if you want." Kraim punched the air, pleased with this modification. They all went their separate ways with two minutes for set up time.
Sel reached into his backpack which he brought with him everywhere and took a pair of Kraim's binoculars he had snatched almost a month ago. He broke them in half turning them into two separate scopes for Kira and himself.
On the other side of the woods, Kraim was coating himself in mud to blend in with the dirt. Shino "helped" him by taking handfuls of sludge and throwing them at him.
When the two minutes were up, Kira was the first to move by climbing into the trees. His stripes matched the trees branches and his fur blended in with the clouds over head.
Shino wisely sniffed the air and found Sel's scent and a particular bitter smell on the gentle breeze. Kraim began to crawl over to log for cover when a paintball went whizzing between his ears. He rolled on his side like a barrel and peeked over the log, trying to see where the danger was.
Unlike the others, Sel was out in the open wearing his favourite blue shirt. He continued taking pop shots at Kraim's head, barely pausing to readjust his aim. He fired again, but nothing came out. Sel put his paint-gun down and tried to figure out the issue, oblivious to his brother running from behind the log and to a nearby boulder.
Shino slinked around close to Kraim but not smothering him. Shino's ears folded flat as a quiet rumble fell upon her. Just as she began to realize, a wave of warmth fell from above and she could only yelp, "KRA--" Kraim turned back to his partner who was sprawled out on the ground being over dramatic about being tagged with a bright pink splat on her stomach. "Blood, blood, blood," she yowled, placing a hand on her face. "And... death," she added exaggerating even more with her tongue hanging out.
Kraim smiled and turned back around to see Sel aimed right at him and took a green pellet to his face. "Double elimination!" He rubbed his eyes clear of paint and saw Sel was sitting a few feet away with a scoped paint-gun which he blew on with a smug look. Kraim's eyes widened.
"Are those my binoculars!?"
"Yeah," Sel said with a smirk, tossing the broken half of the binoculars to Kraim. "You should take better care of them."
Kraim's eyebrows furrowed and he stuffed it in his back pocket. Sel chuckled and slapped his knee, wheezing at his own humor. Kraim tackled him and they rolled down a slope toward the town, biting and scratching all the way down.
Just then, a fire alarm rang out and the fighting stopped with Sel clamping his hands around Kraim's neck. They both looked on in terror as a small home was smoldering. Three horses ran out, a stallion, a filly and a foal. "Help, fire, FIRE! My son is in there!" Sel got up and ran toward the fire on Bruno Avenue to make sure it hadn't spread to Tyr and Kira's home.
Kraim sat up slowly. He rubbed his throat and watched as two firetrucks swerved down the street and out hopped a familiar figure of Kira, the first to run into the building. Kraim looked up, trying to remember the last time he saw Kira. Or Shino for that fact. Was she still in the woods?
Shino ran from the other side of the lower forest from behind the fire and slid on her knees over to Kraim smelling faintly of smoke. "What happened? Where's Sel?"
