When the door opened slowly, allowing him to peek outside little by little. Han Wu Xia saw a group of people. Two in front and the rest were behind them. He could recognize most of them but one.
The one who was in the front-most was the boutique owner’s wife and, judging by their uniform, the group behind was the boutique’s employees.
And the one just beside the boutique owner’s wife is…
“Who?” Han Wu Xia tilted his head.
The boutique owner's wife chuckled. She made a beautiful smile before she explained. "Your Highness, you don't recognize him?"
"That's…" Han Wu Xia felt like he saw him somewhere before. The servants helped open the big door wider, so the boutique Shop owner and her companion would be able to come in.
"Xia, what do you think?"
Suddenly, Han Lian Ai got out of the changing room. Wearing the yellow hanfu and black shoes, her blue earing glittered as the light coming from the lanterns hit it. She smiled helplessly. "Does this suit me? I wonder what Fai Fai will be wearing on the par-"
Han Lian Ai looked up and saw the faces that were inside the room. They were looking at her with all sort of emotion. From admiration to shock. The shock could be easily seen on Han Wu Xia's face.
However, there was one particular emotion that she, unfortunately, didn’t notice.
Han Wu Xia gasped. "Forget about Fai Fai. She will be the one who needs to worry, I swear." He felt elated. "I knew it! My sister is a goddess."
The way Han Wu Xia referred to his sister got the boutique owner’s wife curious. She wondered what happened that the boy started to call his sister this way. “Really?” Han Lian Ai asked.
“Of course.” Han Wu Xia smirked. The boutique owner’s wife also nodded, indicating that she agreed with Han Wu Xia. “That Fai Fai will lose face immediately.”
The name of the boutique was the Gate of Color Boutique. The owner's name was Mister Zheng. Because of the culture, even though she was already married, the boutique owner’s name was Miss Gao instead of Miss Zheng.
Miss Gao was very close to the late empress. She was also in good terms with Han Lian Ai and Han Wu Xia. But she wasn’t in good terms with Han Fai Fai since Han Fai Fai's mother suddenly opened a boutique a year ago and the two shops became rivals.
Of course, Han Fai Fai will use the clothes that she got from her mother’s boutique. If Han Lian Ai managed to shine brighter than Han Fai Fai with the Gate of Color's clothes, Miss Gao would be very pleased.
Han Lian Ai looked over and realized a familiar, yet unrecognizable face. She asked the same question as Han Wu Xia when she saw that face. "...Who?"
Miss Gao chuckled. "You two are really brother and sister, ah. Both of you couldn't recognize the boy that you saved."
"...What?" Han Lian Ai and Han Wu Xia said simultaneously. Their eyes widened as they looked at the deaf boy's face carefully.
Now that they knew who the boy was, they finally see the familiar features, like the eyelashes and lips.
"We are shocked at first too." Miss Gao held the fan to cover the sound of her chuckle. The comedic duo gave her a very rare entertainment. "We only cut a bit of his hair, cleaned him up, and dressed him in the dress the Your Highness choose. The result was more than expected."
Before he was taken by the servants, the deaf boy was very dirty. His hair was very long and covered most if his face. His skin was covered by dust and ash. His clothes were ragged and had holes everywhere.
Now…
Han Wu Xia gulped, he didn't know someone could transform so much just by being cleaned and well dressed.
The boy might look very different, but he was still deaf. He seemed confused as the people around him was telling something. To him, they were just moving their mouth and nothing else.
Han Wu Xia saw that confused look on his face. He then tried to talk to him.
[Hello, how are your wound? Are you still hurt?]
Rather than answering him with a hand signal, the boy chose to smile. After that, he shook his head, indicating that it didn’t hurt that much anymore.
Even though Han Wu Xia protected the boy, Han Lian Ai was still feeling anxious. It was her instinct to recognize people that were similar to her, tricky and sly. She took steps forward, getting close to the deaf boy. Pinching her eyes and looked at the boy suspiciously.
She felt like she had met him somewhere...
