“So how far away are we?” Nik asked.
“Ten yards or so.” Pit said as the troop made their way to the meeting hall.
“Ok.” Nik responded then asked. “If things go bad can you stop anyone from attacking me?”
“No one will attack you.” Pit said plainly as they trudged up the hill to the meeting hall.
“If you’re sure.” Nik said still a bit uneasy.
“Besides, there are plenty of guards there. I can assure you that no harm will come to you while you are a guest speaker.” Pit said before they reached the top of the hill.
“Okay.” Nik responded.
Pit nodded to the guards and they opened up the doors.
“I must admit the freshness of the room is surprising, especially for being indoors.” Nik commented walking in behind Pit.
“We try and keep this place nice. You never know when you're gonna have a meeting.” Pit said, her eyes dashing over to another set of guards by the door leading backstage.
“Okay.” Nik said still looking around.
“Back here. Let's go.” Pit said, shoving Nik through the door.
“Hey don’t need to shove me. I may be blind but I know where to go.” Nik protested.
“Shut. Up.” Pit snarled through her teeth. Once the guards were out of earshot, she motioned for the scouters to come out from her cloak. “Now, you guys go behind the stage. Wait for my signal.” With that in mind, the group carried out her orders. “Nik. Come here. You must change into this.” She thrust a bundle of clothing into his hands.
“Ok? What for?” Nik asked.
“Because the last time i checked, all of these people are ready to rip your throat out. Also, your clothes smell rotten and are basically burnt rags.” Pit said, rolling her eyes as she pushed him in the direction of the mens bathroom.
“True…. Okay, fine..” Nik said walking into the bathroom and putting on the pair of clothes. “Wish I knew what I looked like.” he muttered before finding his way out.
“Hey stop.” Porthos said stepping in front of Nik. “I want to talk to you.”
“Yes? Porthos.” Nik asked looking up at him.
“Hey, I’m sorry. You know, from back there.” He said.
“That’s alright I understand why you were mad.” Nik responded.
“I will give you a chance, but if you turn out to be a spy or something… you answer to me. Okay?” Porthos said with a grin.
“Aight man. But let me tell you right now that I am done working for the Empire.” Nik responded.
“Well, what I say still stands. Now if you excuse me I must go find Pit.” He said walking off.
“Wait Porthos, can you tell me something real quick?” Nik asked grabbing his arm before he walked away.
“Tell you what?” Porthos asked turning around confused.
“Why do you hate the empire so much? What did they do? If you don’t mind me asking.” Nik asked.
“They always want more. If we actually made something like nuclear weapons or had access to valuable gems they would come in here and take it all from us. Or if they knew we had a ship ne… nevermind. They've taken everything before I don't want them to do it again to my friends.” He said with a frown.
“You’re talking about the ship from the old world. Right?” Nik asked.
“I said nevermind. And that ship was destroyed in the crash. I have records to prove it. Okay?” Porthos said looking at Nik. “Anything else?”
“Porthos. I know that you have no reason to trust me but I need you to show me those notes because I have something that may help.” Nik said to Porthos before shaking his head. “Anyways you had to go somewhere right? I’ve kept you long enough.” He sent him off.
“No, I will stay here backstage and bring you there after. But know this, if you do turn evil against us all. You'll be digging yourself your grave.” He said with another out of place grin.
“Geez give the blind man some credit I may be shorter than you but dude I- wait you’re grinning aren’t you?” He asked cutting off from the sentence
“I’ll be here. Break a leg.” He said with that grin again and patting his shoulder.
“Aight.” Nik responded.
“NIK!” Pit shouted, calling him to her over the earpiece given to him in the bundle of clothes.
“Geez, watch the ears. I’m coming.” Nik responded then walked in.
“Earpiece in?” Pit asked as she adjusted her cuffed sleeves and twisted her belt back into the correct facing way.
“Yes.” Nik said still wincing from the earlier shout. “So we going out now?” He asked looking in the opposite direction of Pit.
“I am. Wait for my signal.” Pit said before going on stage. A female wolf hybrid with a headset was muttering orders to the stage crew while Pit talked to the audience an tried to calm them down.
“Okay, listen up! I know you’re all frightened by the recent events. Many of you have mourned the loss of loved ones, though their bodies had not been found. I bear great news, in a sense that their bodies have been found.” Pit paused as the crowd murmured amongst themselves. “But, I an afraid all of mourning has been for nothing. They were found trapped in a parallel plane co-existing next to ours. I bring the news that these scouters are, in fact, alive and well.”
“Go, go, GO!” The lady backstage said, ushering the group of disoriented scouters on stage.
The crowd went nuts way before the first one made it on stage.”
“Gorda?!”
“Ruth! BABE!”
“O-Onre!”
“Gemma? I-Is it really you?!”
“Horace, my love! You’re alive!”
“Keith! Oh thank the heavens above!”
But amongst all of the screams from their loved ones, one stood out the most. The voice of the one whose heart had broke the most when the news hit about the lost team.
“ZORA!!!!” The same hispanic female wolf who was guarding Nik jumped onto the stage an tackled her love. “Oh, thank the blessed gods you’re okay!!!!”
“QUIET! EVERYBODY! Please, I know this is good news, but we have someone to blame, but also thank. Nikolus. Get up here.” Pit said as the backstage coordinator shoved Nik on stage.
Nik stumbled onto the stage looking around all the different emotions seemingly flooding out of everyone startled him.
“Uh… hi.” Nik said.
“Wait, so HE’S responsible for all of us losing our loved ones?!”
“HE caused all this pain, suffering and grief?!”
“KILL HIM!”
“ENOUGH ALREADY!” Pit said, clearly starting to get agitated. The angry mob slowly backed away and took their seat, though not without giving the nastiest glares to Nik. “Now, I know your all furious about losing your loved ones, but he was the one to bring them back to you. He found them trapped in this parallel realm.”
“Are they glaring at me?” Nik asked looking in Pit’s direction.
“Nik, you are not helping your situation.” Pit hissed under her breath. “Now. Before anyone tears any limbs off of any one - Yes, I’m talking to you Ari- We all need to listen to what Nik has to say. Nik. After you.” Pit stepped aside as guard formed a tighter circle around the stage.
Nik stepped up. “Ok.. hi I’ve never been good at speeches but I have important info for everyone. First of all I’m from the capital. Yes the same one that attacked this village 5 years ago.” Nik started. “But I’m here to tell you about the attack Thames is planning. An attack using project double U.” he explained. The crowd let out a few loud gasps an began to murmur loudly amongst themselves.
“Wait?! Double U is back?!”
“Gods help us!”
“IT’S THE END OF IT ALL FOR US!!!!!!”
“SHUT UP AND LET HIM TALK!” Pit cried out, restoring the order.
“Now now, Pit, you can calm down. This is what I partially expected.” Nik looked at pit then back at the crowd, his blind, yet unnerving gaze scanning across the crowd. “I will admit that I was apart of recovering the files for Double U and helped, but when I realized my brother’s true intentions for using Double U, I decided to go and warn the places he was attacking first.” Nik explained. “As of right now they only have about 6 of the super soldiers. Each one having immense strength and magical aura, but I was able to add something that no-one noticed: A small device that if struck with any type of weapon or blunt force, will simultaneously shut down their heart and brain stopping them from being able to do any damage. So, there is some hope. And if you were listening earlier, yes, this very village is their first target.”Nik finished.
“Wait?! That tyrant Thames is your brother?!” A person from the crowd spoke up, followed by a chorus of agreeing voices.
“Why should we believe anything you say?! You’re probably just as bad as your brother!” Another sneered, followed by yet another group shouting in .
Nik looked at Pit for a second then looked back at the crowd the mark on his right shoulder started to glow.
His Wysp slowly drifted from the blue light surrounding Nik’s arm and everyone was quiet.
“You doubt me and my intentions but I guess for you to believe me i need to show you exactly what happened.” Nik told everyone his eyes glowing a bright silver and the scenery around them shimmered and changed to a small stone cavern filled with broken and abandoned lab equipment littered around.
“Are you sure about this Thames? You said that these machines could help the lives of the people but from the looks of it this place hasn’t been used in decades.” said a small red head walking into the abandoned lab his green eyes shining with worry.
“Yes I’m sure these documents can help us get the power to stop this war.” said a taller blonde haired kid with blue eyes.
“Do we even know if those documents even exist anymore?” Asked the red head looking at Thames his green eyes shined in the dark room.
“Yes I’m sure.” the young Thames replied. “We could also use these documents to help people like you Nik.” He said patting his head before continuing deeper into the lab.
Everyone was silent as the scenes before them played before Nik’s voice started shocking most people.
“This is one of my memories my last memory of sight to be exact.” Nik said to everyone.
Pit had stepped aside, her arms crossed over her chest as eyes stayed narrowed. She looked at the memory, her expression hardly changing.
The memory faded away back to the room everyone was in before and Nik’s eyes went back to being silver.
“Back then Thames wasn’t the evil person you know him to be now he really was just looking out for the people as was I but then soon after I went blind and he sacrificed his body to try and heal me it didn’t work and he was taken over by a demon by the name of Azrael. And that was when the war between your people, the other villages and the capital started.” Nik explained.
“At around the same time I was enlisted into the army as a general, as I was lied to by our grandfather. He told me that the wolf-hybrids had been killing our people off for years and stealing our crops… and I foolishly believed him.” Nik said somberly.
“Geez I’m rambling.. Anyways I came here to warn you about the double U project and also to tell you about the three soldiers they’ve made already.” Nik said looking out at the small crowd. “Soldier one, code-name: Tank he specializes in strength and has a magical affinity to Earth, Metal, Shadow, and Fire. Soldier two, code-name: Sonic he specializes in speed and attacking quickly he has and affinity to Nature, Ice, light and Time. And the final soldier three code-name: Storm has and affinity to Lightning, Wind, Water, and Space. Storm doesn’t specialize in anything but he is the only one not driven insane by the abilities he gained so suddenly so he can think and process like a normal person. And if they have made more, I have no idea, as I was tried for treason and just narrowly escaped ” Niklus finished up.
The crowd murmured amongst themselves until they all slowly looked to Pit.
Pit spoke up after being silent for a long time. “Listen, you may not trust him, but I do. If he turns out to be telling the truth, asn he truly has saved us from our impending doom, then you can thank me. The same goes for if he is the opposite. None of you shall be held responsible, should Nik be lying to-.” A woman with sterling red wolf ears screamed in rage as she charged up onto the stage. She dodged gracefully out of the arms of the guards and proceeded to beat Nik up.
“THIS IS FOR YOUR LIES, YOU FILTHY ANIMAL!” She screamed, spitting in his face as she slammed her fists repeatedly into it. A crack could be heard as she slammed his nose with one fist, and the other connected to the side of his jaw.
Pit growled and leapt onto her. As soon as she grabbed ahold of the violent citizen, she pinned her arms behind her back, grunting in frustration. “EASY, KIT! HINEN!” (he-TEN) She said as the guards quickly recovered from their shock and placed handcuffs on Kits’ wrists. The female screamed and tried to fight the guards off. It took at least ten, if not more, guards to restrain her and take her away.
“LET THIS BE A LESSON TO YOU ALL! NIK HERE, IS AN INNOCENT MAN! YOU WILL CAUSE HIM NO HARM OR TROUBLE WHILE WE SORT THIS OUT. GATCIEN?” (got-SEE-en). Pit instructed the crowd, narrowing her eyes as she looked around the room.
“Gatcien, Alpha.” The crowd responded.
“Good. You are all hereby dismissed from this meeting.” Pit said. As the crowd dispersed.
