It was surreal to Alice to start thinking about home again, family and friends, these people who no longer had faces but meant the world to Alice.
"Okay, I'll do it under one condition. You tell me how I can get out of this maze." It took a nanosecond for the King to agree to this. But, soon Alice will figure out that you can never trust a Wonderlander.
Every night the King would visit Alice and tell her about Wonderland. Days turned into months and months turned into years, and as Alice's knowledge increased so did the feeling the King had for Alice. Something weird happened to Alice, in a land where you can trust no one, she learned to rely on the King, trust him. While Alice learned more about Wonderland she also learned more about the King, to the point that their movements were in sync, and nothing was more incredible than when they fought together. They were an army of two with a trust that was unbreakable, well almost.
The King was the first person Alice ever kissed, and Alice showed King compassion for the first time in his life. Alice was the only ray of goodness for the King, and he was Alice's only hope. They needed each other to be complete, yet they could never be complete together. There was too many secrets, hidden agendas from both sides. Both using the other, yet they made it work.
"Alice, I have been teaching you for two years and a half, and I can no longer hide my feelings. If you do not feel the same thing, I will tell you one last secret and leave you, for there is nothing else I can teach you. But if you feel the same, if you have feelings for me, as I do for you, then I will remain in your life till the end."
They sat on a mountain cliff, the sun rising through the clouds, soon the King would have to leave. He looked over at Alice, he saw hope through her, hope that one day his life would be better. He took her hand and kissed it, then whispered "I love you. Don't answer back yet, I'll come again when the sunsets. Then tell me what you have decided." With that the King vanished into the air, drifting away from Alice.
