Amidst the rain

Amidst the rain

May 01, 2019

Pouring outdoors. A stream of water flows down the grey sealed room in front of the house. Interrupted by the violent clashes against a car wheel the portions of the water flew outwards onto the area of a house where a large tree is clearly visible from the outside.

Water drops of the grey heavens slithered around the tree leaves of the large tree in front of the light purple house with various potted plants scattered around. Drip, drip and tear. A single drop of water dropped from leaf to leaf until one broke and fell with the water drop into the small stream of water flowing down the street in the direction of the mountains not too far off from here.

Carried along by the stream like various others. Previously admired upon the sight of their green, yellow or red leaves on their own individual trees will all eventually be quickly forgotten under the dark drains. Carried with a direction they themselves can’t control, pushed along and follow a path like the others…

Drip, drip. Dripples of the sky splatter over my room windows located towards the road. The wet rain drains the energy in the air that makes not want to move as I sat on my blue carpeted floor in my room. No one home and door shut gave me a sense of isolation amidst the rainfall.

Drip, drip, drip. A blew of south mind came towards me. Sliding up the half-opened windows the wind blew up the light half pulled curtains allowing them to fall back towards the window with their bottom metal ends causes out a sudden tick like sound.

Quite, extremely so. The wind continued to blow and the skies continued to sweet after the hot summer. The repeated actions of the raindrops landing on various object mixed with the sounds of the surrounds almost combined to make a soft tune.

Almost silent, the talks of the birds passed around clearly in the crystal shining rain due to the reflective glaze of the sun poking through the dense floating grey pockets of wool before quickly overtaken. The cracks from the break of the sticks gave the tune a bit of variety alongside the randomly landing drops of water.

I like it. For almost every time it rains I force myself to take time to look out the window during the time of the wake. ‘It’s the least I could do for myself.’ I always have that thought. It calms me down with the odd view of a wet seal grey road located just outside of the house. Not the top of the world’s tallest mountain resort view nor the view of an underwater hotel room. It’s really nothing fancy but it allows me to ease off to keep myself off from insanity.

Sometimes people walk through here during this time and most times not. Sometimes they carry an umbrella and those who don’t run through the wet weather while I rested next to the light yellow walls of my room looking out the black rectangular framed window.

Light, strong, dense; the rainfall changes without much of a pattern. The sun which pokes up once a while is way gone from sight as the streams of the water on the sealed road widens and the taps on the rooftops begin to resemble the heavy hits of a drum. The before clearly hearable birds starts to fade until all is left is the sounds generated by the rain.

Cried, screamed. Water flew out of my eyes and mouth. My lungs begin to hurt in the scream of my yell. My brain becomes so dull that it begins to lose function. Clenching my heart, I smashed my head into the carpet before me and twisting my body all around the floor. Yelled, I repeatedly smashed my fist into the ground beneath and tuck my body inwards. Eyes twitching, my two hands scrabbled across my face feeling it and gripped my hair to pull my head further downwards towards my body’s centre.

I like this weather. It makes me calm. Because…at this point in time I am guaranteed that not my screams, squeaks, or yells of my own voice be ever be reached to the world outside where I can be worried.

Summer is over and rain is pouring down in the area where Alice lives. Closed door and no one home, Alice watches the raindrops from her window indoors. She likes this weather because when it pours, not her screams, yells or squeaks can ever reach another person's ears.

Within a family of three, there is a room in the house where Alice has never been. Parents told her to never go in. In other words, off limit. It's a normal looking door at the back of the house closest to the pool backyard with a close shop sign hanging from the door. Is not like I don't know whose room this belongs to. It's my brother's. The one whose gap between us is over 10 years and the one people would call "a genius."
