Chapter – 11
In this one life, that lasts for so few years we are not only troubled by our own problems but also with those around us especially by those of the ones we love. Every suffering in this life can be traced back to love, platonic or not. While, the question of happiness still remains controversial, because happiness has a different origin for each person, suffering does not.
Because of the complexity of human perception, the views that I present will be refuted by many, but the question has never been a matter of right or wrong, it has always been about our beliefs, nothing less, nothing more; an irrefutable statement.
I glanced at myself in the mirror while washing my face, splashes of water sending a sense of comfort and peace to my distorted self. The marks that were made the night before, now disgusted me.
A guy with whom I had been in the most intimate way possible claimed that he had done it because I was a bitch in heat.
Worse, than doing it just for the fun of it.
Needless to say, I was heartbroken by the fact that my first everything had treated me in such a way. But like every cloud has a silver lining, this one had it too. Hayden had taken his stupid face with him to some far far away place and had not been here since the the past few hours.
I wanted to take my mind off his whole fiasco so, I poured myself into my books. I had to get ready for the advanced class that was starting tomorrow, and I wasn’t going to let Hayden fucking Hunter, ruin this for me too.
I was so busy distracting myself and unexpectedly I was so good at it that I didn’t even take notice of the time till my stomach gave a low rumble.
I was just about to head downstairs when my phone beeped, it was Kayla. She had said something funny so I gave a small laugh and texted her right back.
Ever since that day that she had texted me, we had been talking more. It was nice to have a friend to talk to for a change.
Before I could continue my text thread, the doorbell hit my ears. I couldn’t believe Hayden had forgotten his keys and I would have to look at his stupid face again.
To my utmost reluctance, I dragged my legs downstairs to open the door. I grabbed the door knob and pulled the door open.
“Hey.” A really beautiful boy said to me and smiled.
“Hey.” I said meekly.
“Is Hayden here?” Of course, why else would Alex be here?
“Umm… no.”
“Seriously?” Alex’s brows came together in a frown, and his lips narrowed. He put his hand against the frame and gave a sigh. “I have had it with that boy.”
Even annoyed Alex was really handsome. His expression immediately changed when his eyes met mine.
“Do you mind if I hang out here?” Alex politely asked me.
My ears turned red at his gentle tone and I invited him in.
Alex made himself comfortable on the couch and it was evident that this place had been his home for far longer than it had been mine.
I was going upstairs but Alex interrupted me.
“Where are you going?” He smiled at me.
“To my room.”
“Can I come too?” I think, I actually saw a glimmer in his eyes. In that moment, he looked so adorable that I gave a laugh.
“Sure, if you want to.”
Alex hurriedly got up and followed me to my room. He closed the door behind him and took a seat on a chair.
“So, what are you up to?” He asked me, looking at the pile of books on my bed.
“I was just studying.” Alex made a gesture as if he were gagging and made me laugh.
“I thought you’re a straight A student too, like Hayden.”
“Jake, if you have been blessed with a face as good as mine, eyes as beautiful as mine, you do not want to waste it staring at a book. Plus, I am not worried, Hayden will give me a job someday.”
“I am sure, he will.” I couldn’t take my eyes off Alex. My room seemed to have been illuminated by a thousand candles with Alex’s presence. I understood why Alex was popular, he was like sunshine.
Alex and I spent the rest of the time laughing, talking about absolutely nothing. This was the first time I had had this much fun since I came here.
I was hoping my time with him would never end but it did, with Hayden barging into my room, fuming.
