Rowan lugged her things and slowly walked to the Science building.
She entered her biology class and let her head rest on her hands.
"Aw, Rowan, you okay?"
Rowan peeked out from her eyes and could see a purple transparent tail floating off the ground. There was a golden trim on her waist. It perfectly matched with her golden skintight crop top.
Melanie always looked good in gold. It really complimented her chocolate brown skin. Her caramel hair had a sort of bounce to it. Her smile was sweet, with a little mole on her chin.
She was one of the good genies. Bless the Magic realm for making as somebody as silly and kind as her.
"Hey, Melanie. I'm doing ok, just tired. Millian's class had soooo many magic particles today, and my brain was not having it."
"I'm telling you, you should just tell him to cool it down with the magic if it's causing you this much problems."
"We both know she is way too awkward for that." Anthony sat beside Rowan and smirked.
"Shut it, raven boy." Melanie snapped at him jokingly.
"I am a raven, and I am a boy. That's not even an insult. You're just sticking two words together."
Melanie stuck her tongue out and crinkled her nose. She sat down in front of Rowan and patted her arm.
"So, Rowan, I heard about your... plan." Melanie gave Rowan a worried look.
"I don't care what you say, Melanie. I'm going to tell her."
Anthony scooted in.
"We're not against it, but we're just saying; Eudokians have lived in peace for years, and we haven't said anything about our existence to purebred humans. Are you really going to tell your human friend about us?"
"We can trust her, I swear." Rowan gave them a warm, welcoming smile. But deep down inside, she was terrified.
"So when are you planning on telling her?" Anthony asked.
"I have no idea. But it has to be soon. I don't want to hide it any longer."
Melanie chirped in.
"This is why I still don't agree with Eudokians living on Earth. Why don't you and your mom just move back to the Nature realm? Your mom rules it and it would be so much easier for both of you to keep a better eye on it."
"My mom is doing a study project. She wants to see what type of plants we can bring back to Eudoke. We're not interfering with Earth and it's natural laws, we just want to expand Earth's species in plants."
"But don't you miss the Nature realm?" Anthony asked.
"Of course I do, but we'll be back there in a month anyway. THAT'S why I need to tell my human friend about it."
"Rowan," Melanie held her hand, "I know you care about your friend, and you guys tell each other everything, but you need to let go. We can't have any human knowing about us. Even though it's not technically against the Eudokian law to tell anybody about us, it's still morally wrong."
"Melanie," Rowan shook her hand away, "I'm doing it, whether you like it or not."
Melanie only wants to protect people, she never means to harm anybody.
But still...
Not having her on Rowan's side still hurts.
