Nothing will tear us apart

Nothing will tear us apart

Jun 12, 2019

I walked to my locker and Zeke ran up to me, stopping me. "Hey, Are you ok?" He sounded really worried and concerned. Was it that phone call last night? "After our phone call, my mind was at ease so I went to sleep," I answered. "Well it's good you got to sleep because your eye bags are showing it's nonexistent" Ashley interrupted walking to her locker. "Hey!" I raised my voice and Zeke laughed. "I can move out this year or the year after anyway, I'm a Senior so," I said and Zeke looked sad. "I'll kidnap you and take you with me how about that?" I Said. "That's what I thought." His response made me laugh a bit. "Does the turtle

We walked to our classes together on the second floor and I saw my father in the office then I swiftly ran down the hall with Zeke following behind. "Why is your father so nice when company is over?" questioned Zeke. "Because he doesn't want his reputation ruined by a child," I said. "Your teacher told me you were slacking in Math. Gaming is killing off some brain cells." Gaming again?! Really! "D-Dad..I'm trying..really Zeke starting tutoring me," I said the wrong thing at the wrong time and that created the anger that grew on his face as he walked to Zeke. "Your the one that's been failing him! My son will never be allowed to be near you anymore!" My father yelled and Zeke stood there frozen.

"He did nothing wrong! Please...don't take him away from me...he's one of the only friends I have.." I said in tears. "No one is a friend of yours when they fail you." I saw Zeke with tears down his face and I felt terrible and like a failure. "Fine, but you can never break us apart!" After I yelled at him, he walked away and I sat on the floor against the wall.

"You okay?" Zeke sat beside me and I started to cry. I never cry in front of people why now? Why in front of him? I now look like the weak child my father always made me out to be. "Jayden it's okay. He won't break us apart, besides a promise is a promise and I said yes to it. He won't hurt anyone not even you." Said Zeke and I tried to stop crying even a little. "You think so..?" I asked wiping the tears off my face. "Of course." Zeke smiled and I smiled back until I heard someone run past us. "I heard yelling and arguing, you guys alright?" At least you have friends to support you Jayden. "Yeah, it was just my dad don't worry about it. I'm just gonna go home" I got up and walked down the stairs until I felt my backpack being grabbed. "No your not mister, your gonna have a sleepover with Me, Zeke, and Phoenix. My place, after school" said Ashley. "B-But my dad.." I said. "Screw him, your coming over" smiled Ashley. "Uhh, Ash? Do you even know who his father is?" Zeke got really nervous. "Just come, it's his choice." Ashley walked down the stairs and headed to lunch, then Zeke came beside me. "You don't have to. We all understand." I messed up his hair and kept walking to lunch. "Is he still here?" I heard the worry in his voice but just shook my head in response not really wanting to talk about it.

I was eating my sandwich until I got a phone call. Ashley had a confused look on her face as I answered. "Hey what's up" I questioned. "Hey, sorry to disturb you, but DragonKnight Saga just came out in Atlanta! I'm gonna get one and I'm so excited! I've been saving up for it for a long time now" Emmalyn's voice shined with excitement. "I am too! My username is Flame, so you come to find me. I gotta go before I get in trouble" I said. "Okay bye" she hung up and I put my phone away.

"Who was that?" I forgot I never told them about where I came from except for Jayden. "It was a friend from where I used to live before I moved here," I said. "Where did you move from?" Ashley was always curious about everything. "I moved from Atlanta. My neighborhood and school were sorta falling apart and I had to move. There gonna bulldoze it soon..which makes me depressed" I sadly said. "I'm so sorry I brought it up..ugh I feel so bad now" Ashley apologized, then Jayden and Zeke sat down at the table. "So what's this about?" asks Jayden. "Atlanta" Ashley replied making only Zeke confused. "Atlanta sounds like an interesting place. I've haven't been out of this state as of yet, well except for when I moved here.." He moved here? "Atlanta is interesting other than the place I've lived all my life" I answered with brutal honesty. "Note taken" Jayden said as he took a sip of his tea.

Years ago a Senior student created a VR device called the VRSM (Virtual reality sleep mode) that lets you play games in your sleep for five hours at a time for a science fair project expecting it to go nowhere since she didn't enter the contest that would get your invention into a reality where it was created for the public to use.

Two years after the science project won the science far after someone else entered her in the device became an overnight money maker for the company and herself, but what it also did to her overnight is destroy her life. When it was released to the public in the beta mode it sold 20,000 devices and games in the US and England combined.

Out of those 20,000, a soon to be friend group bought the game and played until they couldn't and even one made national news when something went wrong with the device causing them to go in a coma. Two years after that happening a new girl moved into the small town, a new school, new place, and basically a new everything joins the friend group after befriending one of the three of the trio.

This story will follow four high schoolers as they go through the highs and lows of life no matter if it's love, hate, or anything that goes on. Life is unexpected as they say.
