The walk to the grocery story was quiet, and the streets were empty. The street lamps were starting to turn on as the sun was setting in the background. Liz and I had sat at the sandwich shop for the past few hours talking about my soccer career and her venture into art. Overall the day had been pretty fun with the movie theater being the highlight, but now we had to get down to business. "So what is on the list?" Liz slipped her slender fingers into her pockets, and I bit my lip wishing she was doing that to me.
"It is just some stuff for homemade chicken and noodle soup. I love when mom makes it. You should come over when she cooks it." I can't think of the last time I had an actual homemade meal. Me and dad always just ordered out. I don't even think he knows how to turn on a stove much less make something edible from it.
"That would be really nice." I reply as a smile grows on my face. I am honestly looking forward to the move for more than just being with Liz. Right now with just me and dad it is lonely. He was always out late because of work, or because he was out with June. He did try though we would set aside a day or two a week to talk about things going on, it was mostly just me talking about soccer. I am really looking forward to at least having someone to come home to and if June is home enough to cook then I shouldn't have to worry about it. "Can you cook?" Liz looks away and gives me a nervous laugh.
"Oh, yeah. Totally. I-I can totally cook."
"Good to know. I will definitely avoid whatever you try to make in the future." She just slaps my arm, and we continue our way to the store. When we finally arrived there I grabbed the cart, and she lead in front grabbing the ingredients we needed. When we got to the fruits and veggies Liz grabbed some carrots and celery. Weaving by a few other customer we headed towards the meat section. We picked out the chicken, then went on to get the noodles, and broth. Over all the store wasn't that packed. There were a few other customers, but other than that the place was a ghost town. We only had a few more things to grab as we went down the last aisle. When we finally got everything we went to the cash register Liz stopped in her tracks.
"Shit, why did she have to be on today." it was now our turn and Liz was hiding slightly behind me. The cashier just looked at me then looked at Liz. She was tall, and had dark brown hair, her green eyes were pretty cute too. She looked me over, and then spotted Liz.
"Yo, Liz why haven't you wanted to hang out the past few days, and who is she."
Liz came out from behind me "Oh, hey Lauren this is Macey, and she is my girlfriend." To be honest with how she was acting a few seconds ago I wouldn't have been surprised if she introduced me as her new stepsister. I am actually really happy she didn't do that.
I put out my hand "I am Macey, It is nice to finally meet one of Liz's friends." She took it reluctantly, but I held a firm grip as she started to size me up.
"If you hurt Elizabeth consider yourself dead." I like her already.
"Don't worry I won't otherwise I will have to live with it." I almost laughed at the double meaning. "I think we will last. Won't we babe?" she looks at me shocked that I added her into this exchange.
"Huh- oh, um yeah." Liz squeaked out. Dominate my ass. We rang up the items, and started to leave, but I kinda wanted to know more about Liz. "Hey, Lauren here is my number hit me up if you want to hang out sometime; I would like to get to know more about Liz's friends." She just gave me a smile and a nod as I took the bags and Liz's hand to leave.
"God that was weird. None of my other girlfriends ever met my friends." Liz said as we passed through the doors. My skin instantly felt warmer as the setting sun hit me.
"What were your other relationships like before this one?" I was genuinely curious she hasn't mentioned any of her past dating experiences very much in the time we had known each other.
"Well for one none of my other girlfriends ever wanted to make our relationship public, they were to scared people would judge them. Also none of them ever wanted to go on actual dates, so we would just go to each others houses and hang out. Your actually the first person I went passed kissing with."
“How was I your first, you fucked me like you have had years of experience. It was mind blowing." Liz burst into laughter as I finished my sentence. "Plus you were my first. I have never really dated a girl, I did date a few guys, but they just wanted in my pants. I always just avoided them."
Liz looked at me with a smirk. "Just so you know, you were really easy for someone avoiding people trying to get into your pants." I just laughed and smacked her arm.
"It's not my fault you have this effect on me. I mean damn once you got me going I couldn't stop." I leaned on her side and laid my lips on hers. The kiss was light, but I could still make out the slight hint of ham and mayo on her lips. "Now let's hurry it is hot outside." We made our way to her home, and when we arrived the lights were off. When she flicked it on I noticed the same neat hallway leading into the various rooms. On the light blue walls were various pictures of much younger versions June, Liz, and a man I didn't know the name of. "Who is he?" I asked pointing to one of the pictures of a little Elizabeth being held by the man in question.
"That is my dad. He left me and mom when I was eleven to be with a woman in Canada." Her voice grew quieter as she talked.
"Oh, I'm sorry." I gave her hand a squeeze as we walked over to the simple kitchen. There were some unfinished dishes soaking in some water, the smell of brownies somewhere, and a half empty bowl of fruit on the counter. On the counter was also a Note
Liz,
I am staying with Lucas tonight, and you two will have the house to yourselves. I will be back sometime tomorrow night. Don't destroy the place.
Love, June
P.S. There is food in the fridge.
"Well I wasn't expecting that tonight." I laughed as I read the note to Liz
"At least we can have fun later if we want." Liz said with a sensual tone. I gulped as I held her gaze. After a few minutes she turned to grab the bags.
We started putting away the groceries as I contemplating how to spend the night. We basically had twenty four hours alone together, and a part of me kinda just wanted to cuddle up on the couch with her. I wonder if she would go for that, I mean we have plenty of time to go hardcore in throes of passion later.
" want to watch some TV when we finish?" asked Liz, breaking the quietness of the room. The only sound prior was the ruffling of the plastic bags as the contents were being ripped.
"Sure Love, I am honestly fine with anything as long as I get to cuddle up with you." My tone was genuine as I gazed at her putting away the last can chicken stock. Her ever so slightly tanned legs flexed as the was reaching up to the top shelf of the pantry. After a few seconds of struggling to get the can to reach I stepped in and grabbed her waist lifting her up to reach the shelf. After the can hit its mark I turned her around in my arms and embraced her. She returned the hug after a few seconds of being stunned. I gripped her slightly tighter and she returned it. "Tomorrow want to go for a run with me." She just nodded into my neck as we released one another.
"Sure, but I will probably slow you down a lot. The only time I have ran was when it was mandatory in Gym class." I let out a small giggle as she explained her workout situation.
"Look love it can't be that bad. I only run for like four or five miles. So you should be fine." When I finished my statement she just looked at me with a mixture of confusion and annoyment.
"Four or Five Miles? Babe I can barely finish one, let alone five. Are you trying to kill me?" I could barely make out her furrowed eyebrows below her dark green locks. Her arms crossed as she shot me a death glare.
"Look Darling, I promise It won't be that bad. We can work you up to that. Plus we can always stop and take breaks. As a bonus since your slower you can just stare at my ass, so it is honestly a win win. I mean you will get an even more sexy bod then you already have and you get to see my junk bounce. What is not to love?" I winked as I finished my speech, and Liz just hit my arm.
"You're an ass, you know that? I am going to die tomorrow." Liz puffed out as her pouting face grew. "Though I have to agree I do love Looking at your ass." I busted out laughing, and she just grabbed a bag of chips from the cabinet and started walking toward the couch. "Grab something to drink on your way over here.
I let out a sigh as I grabbed us two beers that I knew June would be missing later on and made my way to the couch. "Babe let me be the big spoon".
"Okay, hurry up!" Liz exclaimed in over exaggeration.
I giggled and took a seat leaning against the couch arm, I let my legs land on the foot rest. Liz landed in between my legs cuddling into my chest as I switched on the TV. I took in the intoxicating smell of Liz, as we settled on watching some cooking shows. Liz was munching on chips, and I was reaching for my beer when she spoke up.
"You know Macey this is like the perfect way to spend an evening, I am really happy I met you.
I pulled her into a hug, and then placed a chaste kiss on her lips. "I am really happy to, and don't worry we can sit here like this every night from now on". She gave a light nod into the crook of my neck as she pulled away.
After a few hours of watching cooking competitions Liz was starting to yawn a lot. I was following suit. I looked at the clock. "Damn one am". I noticed Liz's head start to dip down. I reached over her and grabbed the blanket that was laying on the other side of the couch, and pulled it over the two of us. I looked down, brushing a few pieces of olive green hair behind her ear, and then I leaned in and kissed her forehead. "Night darling I love you."
"I love you too." she whispered as she fell asleep.
I let out a long sigh, not knowing how I got so lucky as to fall in love with the woman that spilt coffee on me.
