Donna glanced at a door in the room I didn't notice before and turned around back at me with a smile.
"How about I run you a nice bath- would you like that Kye?"
"A bath?" I questioned. "What is that?"
Xavier shook his head silently while Kyle stood up. "Xavier and I will go get a room ready for Kye while you give him a bath, Donna."
They walked out of the room while Donna ran off to the studio behind the door. I heard water running and listened to a couple of squeaks. Some thumping noises were heard, and some softly spoken whispers from Donna were heard as well. The water seemed to get louder before stopping abruptly. Donna ran out of the room and then walked briskly to the door that leads to the hallway. She topped herself on the frame to turn around to me.
"I'm going to get you a nice change of clothes and some warm towels Kye. Just go ahead and get undressed in the bathroom. I'll be right back" Donna smiled at me and then left.
I pushed the covers off of me and finally got a look at myself. Unlike when I first woke up, I had on a cotton shirt, and a pair of underwear I didn't notice earlier was placed on my body. I felt the fabric and smiled to myself. It felt like the sheets I laid in, and I never wanted to take it off.
21. I love my shirt.
I looked at my gangly legs and noticed them at full length. For years, I saw them curled against my chest and seeing them at full range shocked me a bit.
My legs looked weak and frail.
I shook my opinions off and slid off the bed with caution. As my feet hit the cold floor, a tingling sensation flowed through my skin. I pushed off the bed, gritting my teeth, and praying that my legs would kick in and start working.
The doctor hinted at life before Jeremy, so I must've been able to walk before.
But with that same logic- I should've had a family before.
I stopped myself from going into a spiral of depression and focused on standing.
My knees buckled and wobbled in confusion, but I eventually stood.
22. I can stand.
I tried taking a step, but my legs gave way- crashing sideways into the bed. I figured that the sooner I re-learn how to walk, the better I am. Once I got back to standing position, I took a deep breath.
"It's just one foot in front of the other" Not trusting myself with picking up each foot, I scooted my foot along the floor and then did the same with the other.
Slowly but surely, I was making my way to the bathroom.
23. I can walk (sort of).
I reached the bathroom door and closed it gently behind me. I took a deep breath as I leaned against it. My legs felt like they'd collapse at any moment, but I needed to do this.
I needed to do this in order to not fall into the depths of self-pity.
While catching my breath against the door, I saw a tub with tangible steam slithering into the air like snakes. It felt hot, but it didn't feel as hot as the Oven.
I scanned the room before landing on the glass that hung from the wall.
It was beckoning me to wipe the sweat from its surface. I slowly let go of the door and latched onto the sink. My right hand trembled as I met it's slick surface and dragged my palm downwards.
I was rewarded with a face.
I gasped upon the sudden entrance of the person and realized it was doing the same as me. It didn't take me long to realize that the person staring back at me was me, but I wish it weren't.
My skin was covered in bruises, but a person couldn't tell because of the dirt and grime that draped my body like a blanket. I raised my arms and saw how they resembled my legs- weak and frail-like. They shook when I held them out for too long, so I put them down at my sides. I put my hands on my face and immediately felt bone. My forehead was wrapped tightly in gauze, but I wished it hid my limp and lifeless ebony hair that reached my shoulders. The only thing that was a giveaway to me being alive was my emerald green eyes that shined through the impurities on my skin.
I suddenly felt ashamed of my appearance.
A knock at the door knocked me out of my trance. I turned to see Donna opening the door and holding a small stack of clothes in one hand.
"I came in here to help you wash your hair, and then I'll let you wash- Kye what's wrong?"
She must've seen the distressed look in my eyes because she dropped the clothes on the closed stool lid and held my shoulder in my hands.
"You embraced me knowing I looked this dirty?" I asked. I would have told her not to hug me if I knew I looked this soiled.
Donna took a deep breath in, and I saw her eyes sparkle with tears before being blinked away. "Kye, I'll hug you no matter if you're dirty or clean. Like Xavier, I don't plan on you getting in harm's way again" she engulfed me into a hug and then released me. "I'll keep hugging you until I'm dead" Donna chuckled and rubbed my cheek with her thumb. She turned on the sink and pulled out a bottle of liquid I didn't notice before.
"Now, let's wash that hair shall we?"

I sat on the bed with freshly cleaned white clothes thanks to Donna. She washed my hair while I rested on my knees. I was shorter than she thought so she put towels under my knees so that they wouldn't hurt and my whole head could be in the sink. First, she took the veil off, and then she softly washed my hair. It burned a little bit when soap got into my cuts on my head, but she promised to be quick and then led me to the bath. Listening to her instructions and my instincts, I washed my body with the hand towel she supplied, as she combed the knots out of my hair.
The bath water turned a dark brown when I was done, but Donna smiled.
"You smell like vanilla now," she commented as she wrapped a towel around me. She helped me into the clothes she brought and then led me back to the bed. She noticed the hair getting in my face while trying to get situated and decided to tie my hair back in a thick braid. I enjoyed it immensely and swung my new braid around a few times. It gained a laugh out of her, and she stood up once the fit of laughter left.
"You rest right here, and I'll bring you some lunch," she said and then was gone before I could say anything.
I watched the doorway before placing my arms out in front of me. I always thought my pale skin was a permanent brown color. When I got done cleaning, it seemed that a layer of constricting hands lifted from my body just by a little bit. It still hurt, and I knew Donna took note of how many bruises littered my body.
I sighed and put my arms down. I held up four fingers and continued to count.
24. I love being clean.
25. I love my hair in a braid.
The door opened again, and I dropped the numbers from my hands. Donna strolled in with two plates, and with Kyle and Xavier on her heels. They both sat down in the chairs that were left from earlier while Donna handed me a plate with a sandwich cut into two on it.
I stared at it while she sat down and picked up one of her slices. "It's peanut butter and jelly. Try it- you'll like it" She bit into hers and smiled.
There was leftover purple stuff smeared on the plate, and I placed a finger in it. I put it in my mouth and swooned as the flavor hit my tongue like a drummer hitting the correct beat.
"What's the purple stuff?" I asked, picking up a slice.
"It's jelly, and the brown stuff is peanut butter" Xavier answered.
"What did you used to eat while with Jeremy? If you don't mind me asking" Kyle said, but Donna shot him a look.
I sniffed the sandwich. Something in my mind told me not to eat it, but I ignored it. "I don't mind. I ate toast and rice with water."
Xavier sucked in a breath. "No wonder you're skin and bones" He saw me pick at my food and pulled the other sandwich slice from the plate. I looked up and saw Kyle do the same to Donna.
"See Kye?" Kyle and Xavier took a bite. "It's good together, and now you try."
I nodded and put the sandwich in my mouth. I tasted the jelly, and it slithered down my throat with ease- making a trail of deliciousness in my mouth. The bread was super glued to the other substance, peanut butter, and stuck to the roof of my mouth. I used my tongue to get it down my throat, but it left an itchy feeling on the way down.
I blinked at the experience and looked at the sandwich slice in my hands.
"How was it?" Xavier asked. I put the sandwich in one hand and scratched my neck.
"It's good but can I get something to drink?"
Donna shot up from her chair. "I'll get it!" She ran back out the door. Kyle chuckled before looking back at Xavier. They started a conversation I couldn't follow, and I decided to take another bite of my sandwich.
My hand moved to scratch my neck as the next piece moved slowly down my throat. I put the sandwich down on the bed sheet and started to scratch my mouth. My fingertips grazed bumps popping up around my mouth. Heat lightly burned at my hands as I went from scratching to rubbing my neck ferociously. My breathing suddenly went from fine to shaky to raspy. I looked towards Kyle and Xavier talking.
I opened my mouth, but nothing came out.
My body started to rock on its' own and black orbs danced along with my vision. I kept my eyes open with as much energy as I could. With one hand on my neck, I waved to Xavier with my right hand as my body rocked forward.
He noticed me out of the corner of his eye and turned towards me. He stood up so fast that the chair hit the wall with a loud crash and rushed through all the chairs barricading me with ferocious speed.
"Go get Jeffree now!" I heard footsteps as Xavier rested my body on his forearm. I had my forehead on his elbow, and I started coughing as he lightly hit my back. My right hand crept up and tried to rub my throat to soothe whatever was happening there as best as it could.
Xavier's steady hand cocked my head back and took a look at my face. I saw him grimace through my half lidded eyes and let the sound of my breaths making wheezing sounds fill the room.
He opened my mouth with ease and shoved two fingers down my throat.
My eyes widened with the sudden invasion of the thick fingers in my mouth, pushing to the back of my throat. My hands went to intercept him, but he persisted on his mission.
He pushed a bit farther and quickly pulled out- vomit following him.
I threw up violently and clenched my eyes shut. Once I was done with my short episode, I laid lifeless on Xavier's forearm. I felt better overall, but my throat felt like it was dragged across the asphalt in circles.
"What the hell just happened?" Donna's voice rang out. My breathing was ragged, and I felt my energy dissipating with each second. My eyes closed on their own as I felt a hand rub my back.
"Kye's allergic to peanuts."
