Scott thrummed his fingers against the table idly, anger building up in his chest. It had been two weeks since he'd been named King, and every day since then the council has gathered to discuss solutions to the riots and strikes all across the nation. Which meant he sat and listened to them argue for hours on end. He'd tried joining in, but he quickly realized that they didn't care about what he had to say. In fact, they ignored him. Acted like he didn't exist.

     It surprised him at first. The council was mainly made up of Betas because their caste is known for being the most level headed. Seeing them act so uncharacteristically soon began to annoy him. It gave him a headache watching them as they bickered like children, talking over one another just to get their say in. It was a miracle none of them had lost their voices yet. Nothing was going to be solved unless someone intervened. Unfortunately, he figured that person was himself.

     Scott stood up quickly, knocking his chair over which fell with a loud bang. He slammed his hands flat on the table for good measure. "That. Is. Enough." He spit out, looking every one of them in the eye. The shocked look on their faces was almost comical. Now that he had their attention he didn't quite know what to say. He felt his burst of confidence quickly ebbing away. "I'm tired of arguing about this. Unless anyone has a real solution, the only thing to do is wait it out."

      Their surprise quickly turned to anger. James Mitchell, one of the few Alphas on the council quickly spoke up. "Do nothing? Those riots have been at the palace walls for weeks. The mining and steel industry is nearly at a standstill because the Alphas are on strike and you want us to sit back and let it happen?" His voice is dripping with loathe. He didn't seem to be a big fan of Scott. It was almost enough to make him want to sit back down and shut up. Almost.

     "Do you have a better idea?" He challenged, becomming angry instead. "Those Alphas on strike likely have families. Soon their money will run low, and they'll be forced back into work. As for the riots, what is there to be done? Throw them all in jail?"

     "What if we distract them instead?" Scott turned his attention to a beta who was generally pretty quiet. Dianne Blackwell didn't say much unless she felt it was important.

     "How?" He asked, quickly picking up his chair and sitting back down. At least they weren't yelling anymore.

     "Well, you're an unclaimed Omega-" She began but was quickly interrupted by James who scoffed, "No he's not. I can smell an Alpha all over him."

     A murmuring spread across the council. The Betas looked confused and began asking who while the few Alphas nodded. Betas didn't have the same sense of smell as Alphas. They could detect almost anything.

     "Everyone quiet!" The Omega growled and fortunately they all complied. They were likely hoping he'd say who the Alpha was. "What I do in my spare time is none of your concern. I am unclaimed, so please, Ms. Dianne, continue with your proposal. If anyone," He gave James a pointed look, "Interrupts her I will have them thrown out of this room."

     "Well, you'll be needing a mate. What's better than to sort of televise it? It'll distract the people while also giving them what they want, a ruler in a stronger caste." Dianne pushed up her thick glasses. "Everyone loves a love story."

     Scott frowned a bit. Make his love life public? That just seemed... embarrassing. "How would we pick the suitors then? Regulate when it would be recorded and such?"

     "Random drawing? Have Alphas fill out some application and it's picked from there." Someone suggested.

     "What if none of them are a good fit for the throne? How many names would we pull?" Someone else fired back.

     Suddenly, they were all looking at Scott, waiting for him to answer. He was surprised he was getting so much attention today. An idea was forming in his head fortunately. Sure, it wasn't exactly what he wanted, but if it would help his nation, then he was all for it. He beckoned a maid over to bring him a piece of paper and a pen. He began scribbling stuff down.

     "If this is going to happen, we're going to do it my way. Is everyone okay with that?" He glanced up, and no one objected, but they all looked hesitant. "I'll allow thirty suitors stay at the palace. Fifteen of them will be chosen by the council, excluding me. However, the group will need to have all three castes. Five Alphas, five Betas, and five Omegas for fairness. The other fifteen will be randomly drawn, and they will also include the three castes equally." Scott kept his voice stern, leaving no room for objections. When he looked up, all of their faces were drawn into tight frowns. He wasn't done though. He had one more condition.

     "Whoever I choose will also be my Luna."

     "Man, I wish I had been there." Colin shook his head amusedly, rubbing his hand up and down Scott's back while the Omega listened to his heart beat. "They must have been so outraged."

     Colin had been spending most nights with Scott since he'd been crowned. The Omega knew it was innapropriate and wrong, but he found himself craving the Alpha the few nights he'd spent alone. He never wanted it to end.

     Scott chuckled lightly with a nod. "They were all pretty much yelling when I said I wanted my mate to be the Luna. It took me nearly ten minutes to get them to calm down."

     "Do you think you'll find a good mate this way?" Nothing like this had ever really been done before.

     "I don't know."
