The entire way to Roxas' home, Orion tried his absolute best not to force his companion to burst his top and scream at what everyone else would assume was just empty air. Instead he allowed his body to float around as he pleased. A few air circles here. A couple zig zags. Anything to keep himself entertained.
Finally at the front door, Roxas took a deep breath before shoving it open. There was no immediate greeting from anyone else. Must mean no one else was home.
Perfect.
Meant no one else to question his sanity as he talked to the supposed wall.
Orion made his way towards a family portrait hanging on a nearby wall. A smiling Roxas accompanied by his father, mother, and a little sister bearing the same expression.
“You should really smile more…” Orion thought aloud which only received an eye roll.
“You should be less nosy.” Roxas bit back before throwing a small bag filled with notes and homework to the side willy nilly and wandered off towards his room, slamming the door behind him.
Such actions forced Orion to sigh once more before catching up. Right as he made a fist to knock on the door, Roxas spoke from the other side. "Ghosts don't need to open doors."
He was too late in his action that as the words were spoken, his fist disappeared to the other side of the door. "Oh. Right." Then he proceeded to slide himself through the closed door and took a look around.
Now, ghosts had almost all the freedom they could want yet Orion could never bring himself into the private space of another's room. He couldn't honestly admit to never stepping foot in another's house, but bedrooms were off limits.
He had some decency!
So the sight of another young males room was new.
Granted he had recently passed, and had he been a normal teen, his room would have been near the same. That or perhaps he would have a friend whom he would have visited for an idea. But he was not a normal kid. His time was filled with part time work and studying.
His room felt like an emotionless void compared to that of Roxas.
Posters of bands, anime characters, artwork he must have either bought or made. All of which coverd his walls. There was no empty space between.
"Whoa!" Orion gaped, eyeing up the walls, his attention only diverting as the bed beside him creaked.
"Go on, take a seat...or not. I'm not used to this whole ghost thing yet." Roxas settled himself atop his bedding. Meanwhile Orion attempted himself to sit but found himself floating straight through the bedding; too distracted to concentrate his thought into sitting normally. So he for now sat with his head peeking out.
"So uhm… " Orion started off but was immediately halted.
"You. You look familiar. Have we met before well, this happened?" Roxas gestured to the whole being of Orion.
"Not met per say but...I believe we saw each other one of the many times I quite literally bumped into Albel." He scratched his cheek and nervously laughed.
"That is my other question. How-"
"Stop! I can't think that fast. Let me work through all the questions you may have slowly." Taking a deep breath of air-Did ghosts even need air? Whatever. The sentiment was the same.
"I died about, what is it now, a year ago? My name is Orion Chase. As to why I'm like this…" His head drifted to the side away from his companion. It was pathetic right? Of all the reasons to be a ghost, his was from an unrequited love.
"Because of Albel I assume?"
Silence was his response.
"It's strange, right? A man lingering around as a ghost for another man? For anyone for that matter. Why couldn't it have been for something cooler?" Orion forced a laugh before changing topics without a warning. He refused to let them talk about him much longer. Roxas would respect that for the time being.
"What about you? This is the first time you've been able to see me? Unless you've been playing with my mind, and decided only today to show it?" Orion let out a fake gasp as he changed the conversation.
"You think I'm that sort of person?" Quirking an eyebrow, Roxas placed a hand over his heart with his very own faux gasp. "I'm hurt." He lifted his legs to rest against his chest while curling in on himself. "No. This is the first. And I can only assume why it might be."
The ghost beside him was ready to jump in and question but was startled by the door suddenly opening.
