Esmeray froze and looks at the young man. "Maybe."
Oron gives her a bright smile. "Don't take offense. I was just curious. Your wings gave it away." He turns to towards Darcy. "We are an odd bunch anyways. We have no reason to judge you."
Esmeray laughs at his description. "Defiantly odd."
Darcy walks up to them. "He's been loaded into the ambulance. Conall is waiting for us to load up, and had back to the station."
Esmeray nods. "Okay. Give me a sec." She walks over to the ambulance, and places a hand on the mans forehead.
Suddenly Oron grabs her hand. "Don't. We need that evidence."
Esmeray hangs her head. "I don't want to either, but he'll be hunted again if he still remembers them." She meets the young mans eyes. Sending images of the first time she fought these creatures. "See. It's for his safety."
Oron shakes his head. "Let me ride back with him, and get a statement afterwards I purge him. That should stop it from happening again."
Esmeray rolls her eyes. "Fine, angel boy. Go ahead." She sets about to the next task. Waving her hand at the building. She mumbles a few words. Casting a spell to reverse time on the building. Metal, wood, and concrete platforms flew back in place. She turns to walk towards the car. "Let's go. I need to talk to Ellen."
Darcy pops the door open for her. "Guessing your gonna take up her offer?"
Esmeray climbs into the car. She shrugs her shoulders as an answer. She watches the driver weave through the cars. Conall Moon. She bit back a laugh, as she thought about a werewolf and vampire sharing a car. Their ancestors must be rolling in their graves. Hers were probably calling her an imposter though. Helping the innocent instead of torturing them. Nowadays, the old blood feuds meant nothing to the new age supernaturals, since most weren't full blood themselves. They were mixed with either human or another supernatural. Which caused the older generation to make pacts with each other, they needed to protect their precious bloodlines. Moon pulls into a parking space in front of the station.
When she steps out of the car, Ellen wraps her in a hug. Esmeray freezes in surprise. "Uh, Chief?"
Ms. Heart pulls back. "Sorry. You just had me worried. That stunt you pulled was extremely dangerous." She rounds on the men. "Conall you just disappeared into the building, and Darcy had could you throw her like that."
Esmeray grabs the woman's shoulder. "It's okay. They were only doing what I told them to do."
Ellen looks at her in surprise. Squeaking out her question. "They actually listened to you!?"
Esmeray nods. "Uh, yah."
Ellen points at them. "These two don't listen to no one. Not even to me."
Darcy frowns down at the little woman. "You didn't see the look in her eye. Thought she would kill me, if I didn't listen. Right, Moon?"
Conall nods his head. "Chick is totally scary."
Esmeray glares at the two men. "Shut up. I was focusing on the situation that needed to be handled."
She crosses her arms over her chest. Men, they think any woman who doesn't take their crap is terrifying.
Darcy and Conall start laughing. Darcy pats her on the shoulder. "We didn't say that was a bad thing. Not many people dare to order us like that, and live to see the next day. You and chief are about the only two who can get away with it. Right, Chief?"
Ellen cocks her head to the side. "You two still do what you want, and ignore my orders. I then haft to clean up the mess you two made."
Esmeray covers her mouth to stop from laughing at her scolding them. "Ms. Heart, I think we need to discuss something in your office."
Ellen perks up instantly. "Sure. Let's go."
Esmeray follows her into the station, and into the back where a windowed office sat to watch over the rest of the station. She sits down on the seat opposite of the desk. Ellen smiles at her. "What exactly did you want to talk about?"
Esmeray takes a deep breath. "You have assess to my memories. There is something you'll find in them no one else knows. If you haven't seen it yet, than I gonna ask you to not tell him anything when you do. The other is I am willing to work with you, and your team under one condition. I lead the team on the fights."
Ellen nods her head causing her light brown hair to fall over her shoulders. "I agree to both conditions. Yes, I have seen what your talking about. I won't tell him, but don't be surprised if he figures it out on his own." She gets up and walks around the table, and holds out her hand to Esmeray. "Welcome to the team, Ms. Dawn."
Esmeray shakes her hand. "Thank you." She gets up to walk out of the office, but stops at the door. She turns to look at Ellen. "May I call you, Ellen?"
Ellen smiles brightly at her. "Of course, Esmeray."
Esmeray walks out of the office, and towards the double doors at the front of the station. She looks at the calendar, as she passes by it. Tonight's the full moon. The time things that go bump in the night come out to play. She sighs. Tonight's going to be exhausting. While glancing at her watch, she grimaces. She might not make it to the usual spot tonight. She pushes open the door, and bumps into someone. She mumbles without looking up. "Sorry."
"You don't look too happy." Darcy says in a joking tone.
Esmeray looks up into his familiar blue eyes. Shit. This was the last person she wanted to run into right now. "Forgot the full moon was tonight."
Darcy grimaces. "Yah, I'm not of fan of these nights either. What's your plans?"
Esmeray looks away in surprise. "Uh, just gonna hoof it to my usual spot. You?"
Darcy looks over at a group a men standing outside. "Gonna go to a forest bunker. I built it last year when a few of my friends more than usual trouble controlling their urges."
Esmeray nodded. "Seems to be happening a lot lately. Which forest?"
Darcy points to the east. "About twenty miles east of the edge of the town."
Esmeray grimaces, but covers it with a joke. "Well we might bump into each other later. I usually hide out in a cabin around there."
Darcy looks at her in surprise. "You’re the one who owns the loggers cabin over there?"
Esmeray nods. "Yah, it was my dads'. Why?"
Darcy shakes his head in shock. "I tried to buy it once, but couldn't seem to find the owner. Guess I know why they just disappeared now."
Esmeray laughs. "Yap." She looks down at her watch. Six o'clock. "It was nice chatting, but I really need to go. Only got a few more hours before I change."
Darcy nods, and steps aside to let her by. "I understand. I got to head out soon, too. See ya tomorrow."
Esmeray smiles at him. "See you tomorrow, Partner." She walks away chuckling. Fastest way to get there would be to cut through the middle of town. She'll need time to set up everything for the night. She sighs again. Tonight is gonna be hell. Not just for her, but for everyone else here. Each one of us will be fighting a battle to keep our paranormal side under control. Some of us will win while others will lose. It's a side affect of the Cataclysm. She looks up to examine the tear in the sky. It was beuatiful, but held a terrible reminder of what happened a hundred years ago. She watched a piece of earth float across the sky. Esmeray saw winged angels fly around the few buildings on the land. She hits the edge of the forest, and grunts when she starts to feel the affects of the change. Shit.
