Ruby skated on the edge of the turn. Pushing her bike to the limit. She rounded every curve with aggressive precision. Once she hit the highway her speed increased, weaving through traffic. Her red hair danced behind her as she pushed forward. Her speed didn't falter even when she hit the city limits. The cops knew better than to stop the red haired girl on the bike. Rumors had spread about her vicious side while she was still young. A cop had pulled her over on her bike when she was only fifteen. Her rage had burst at the old cops impertinence, and she had slaughtered him without mercy. She still remembered the feeling of her blades slicing through his skin and bone, but that did not compare to the punishment she got in return. Her mentor had rammed a knife through each of her limbs. Pinning her to a wall for a week straight. She traces one of the scars through her sleeve. A grime smile spread across her face. He was as much a savior, as he was a demon in disguise. He reviled in the idea of killing, but hated senseless murder. A walking contradiction she called him once. He only responded with a smile.
She felt a tear stream down her face, as she spotted her target. While pulling her bike into a parking spot, she wondered how he’d react to her situation. She laughed when she knew exactly how’d he react. One look would tell her how stupid she was being right now. She stepped into the building, and everyone froze. She knew what they were seeing because her mentor had explained it to her once. Her emerald eyes glittered with malice while her wavy ruby red hair framed her face. The wind from the ride would have caused her hair to stick up in odd angles, but would give off a crazed disheveled look. Standing a few inches shy of six foot by gaining a couple inches with her heeled combat boots. Her tall frame left her towering over most which left people intimidated of her. Wearing red leather pants that had slights to show skin. Topped with a red tank top, and black leather jacket that stopped just under her breasts. Her swords were strapped to her hips while her pistol was strapped on her right thigh. They knew who she was, and even these people feared her.
She watched as everyone backed away from her, as she approached the front desk. "I need to find information on the man that kidnapped me. You have ten minutes to get it for me." She smiled at the fear in the man's eyes.
"Ruby Ruthless. What can we do for you?" She turns to see the owner of the building smiling at her.
Ruth returns the mans smile. "Mr. Kincaid long time no see. I'm here to get information on the man that dared to kidnap and torture me."
Mr. Kincaid smiled. "Haven't killed him already? That's not like you."
She waltz's over to were the man stood. A devilish smile forming on her lips. "Well I was planning on savoring this revenge since it's been so long. I will take everything of his and crush it." She met the eyes of the man. "Now we have wasted eight minutes of the time I gave you."
The man nods his head. "I thought we might see you after I heard what happened. I already have the information you seek along with any extra that might interest you. Is there anything else you need, miss ruby?" He holds out an USB to her.
She takes the USB while answering his question. "Actually, yes. I need some tech items. Think you could hook me up?"
Mr. Kincaid gave her a sideways grin. "Come with me. I have a selection ready to present to you." Ruth follows him to a neighboring room, and smiled when the room went back to bustling noise. Once the doors shut behind them, the man turned to face her. "It's been five years, Ruth. Why did you come back?"
Ruth's face twisted into a grimace. "I wasn't the only one he kidnapped, and there will be more. Plus I really do intend to keep my word with the man that tortured me. I wouldn't have bothered doing anything else, but he also took my friends. I promised both of them that I would take care of this, and you know better than anyone that I keep my promises."
Mr. Kincaid shook his head. "There is always an idiot who underestimates you. What I want to know is how did he get away with catching you?"
Ruth sighs heavily. "I was drugged along with my friends. When I woke up I was in some dungeon, I had now way to tell where I was. I was drugged again with a paralysis agent in it. I couldn't move for weeks. I was in that hell hole for a month, and I made sure to count every single thing he did to me. Now what I need from you is a PDA, a grapple, a winged suit, and a steel tipped whip." Her eyes glittered with determination as she spoke.
Mr. Kincaid nods his head. "Yes, of course. I will have it ready in five." He waves his hand towards a servant standing in the corner. "Wait here, please." He walks out of the room for a few minutes returning with a slim easy to carry backpack, and a PDA in his left hand. "Here you go. I also made sure the winged suit was in your favorite color."
She places money in his hand for the supplies, and smiles her gratitude at him. "Thank you. Hopefully this will be the last time we see each other."
The old man laughs. "Me too, Ruby Ruthless. A young woman such as yourself should be falling in love instead of going around killing people."
She slings the bag over her shoulder while walking towards the door. Looking over her shoulder at her old acquaintance. "Now come on. You know I was never raised for a peaceful life." Her laughter echoed behind her as she walked out of the building. She swings a leg over the side of her bike, but stops to look in the bag. She finds a spyglass setting on top of the winged suit. She pulled out the peculiar tech with a smile on her face. It was a single glass screen set on a ear peace that rapped around the back of the head to stabilize it. She placed it on her face, and pressed the button to turn it on. It connected to the PDA he had given her. She inserts the USB to input the data she got. Once it was transferred, she crushed the USB in her hand. She tapped through the locations, and found the closest one to her. She turned on her bike. Taking of in the direction her spyglass showed. A devilish smile forming on her lips once again. The hunt was her favorite thing. She would take out every location associated with him. Rescue any civilians, and kill any who got in her way. The engine roared its approval, as she sped closer to the destination.
Jamir steps over the broken door into the living room. He shakes his head at the carnage Ian's men had left. He breathed in through his nose taking in her scent. Once in her bedroom, he balled his fist at the reality he must face. That the only way to get to her is to return to his old self. Ray put his hand on his friends shoulder. "I pull you back out, if you go into deep again."
Jamir turned to smile at his friend. "Thank you, but there is more at stake than my sanity right now. I find it extremely strange that the three of us found something so elusive at once."
Ray's eyes open in surprise by his friends words. "Are you telling me that all three of us have been affected by the soulmate principle? That is peculiar. Seeing that is so rare."
Jamir nods his head. "Especially under the circumstances. I'd say that something is intervening to make sure those three don't end up being used."
Ray looks around the room while he spoke his words cautiously. "What I think is weird is that she is just like you, don't you?"
Jamir frowned at his friends words, but didn't deny the parallels their life's had. It really was almost like some higher interfered to make sure Ian didn't get his wish. He smiled at the idea of a god wanting to help non-human beings. It almost made him want to laugh. "Yes, it is. I think he wanted someone he thought could beat me." Jamir kneels to pick up a ditched backpack. "I think I can still find her before she disappears."
Ray raises a quizzical brow. "How did you come to that conclusion?" Jamir tosses the bag at him. Ray looks at the contents. Clothes were shoved into the bag in a hurry, but were still left behind. "Why leave these if she had thought about taking them?"
Jamir points to the open hatch whose contents were taking. "Remember what Noir said. That she took what makes her the mercenary Ruby Ruthless. Which means I know exactly what she's planning."
Ray smiles at his old friend. "Revenge. Ian sure knows how to pick them." Ray's laughter gave away his enjoyment at the idea that someone will finally take Ian out.
Jamir starts walking out of the house while giving an order to one of his men. "Pack up everything here, and send men to the others houses as well. Make sure there isn't a way for Ian to get to them." He felt his anger flare, as the possibility of losing her passed through his mind. She is mine, and Ian will pay for what he did to her. His skin began to crawl when the urge to shift took over. He balled his fist to resist long enough to get out of sight. Once in the trees behind the house, the sensation took hold of him. His roar of anger started as a mans, but ended as a beast feral cry. He raced after her smell, and he wouldn't stop until he saw her with his very own eyes.
