Chapter 15

Jinx sighed as he leaned against the cashiers counter at work.

He felt sort of disappointed about the way things had turned out with Kuroi er Kurono.

It serves me right thinking about trying to make friends again. Last time I did they found it funny to ditch me after I helped with their homework, Jinx thought while mentally grumbling.

He looked over at the clock hanging off the wall and then at the empty store. He groaned as he went towards the shelves to start stocking them, just so he had something to do.

The store was almost always empty. The money that they made was mostly from the pharmacy in the back but it had closed earlier. So now he had half an hour left before the end of his shift, then he would close the store and lock it.

He carefully placed things on the shelf as neatly as possible. His boss was adamant that the stores items be as neat as possible and since Jinx did not have much to do most days he complied. Otherwise he would die of boredom given that the store barely ever saw any action. But he supposed he was ok with that since he really did not have to do much.

Jinx pulled at his uniforms collar, he unbutton one of the top buttons so he could breathe better. He liked that it was a bit longer sleeved since he had one nasty scar on his upper arm from when a guy had jumped him and they had landed on some broken glass in a street once.

He popped a piece of gum into his mouth and enjoyed the mint taste as he worked to straighten what he had stocked on the shelves as more insurance so he wouldn't upset his boss.

He ran a hand through his hair as he looked over his work, nodding to himself at its pristine image.

The front automatic doors opened and Jinx looked out from the isles, about to greet the customer but frowned at the person who walked in.

Kurono grinned at him as he walked closer.

“Can I help you sir?” Jinx snapped snarkily, feeling frustrated he had to see the man at his workplace.

Kurono winced at his tone but continued to stride up to him confidently until they were almost touching, infuriating Jinx.

“What? I can not come in to buy something?”

Jinx cocked his head but narrowed his eyes as he spoke, knowing full well the man had not come in just to buy something.

“Of course you can? All I did was ask if you need help sir?” Jinx’s voice came out mocking and Kurono raised an eyebrow at him but smiled.

“Actually yes you can!” Kurono’s smile became even more bright.

“Ah…” Jinx had not thought that the man would take him up on the offer, he had been trying his best to be an ass without saying anything rude since he was at work.

“Go out with me.” Kurono smiled.

Jinx just looked at him deadpan and narrowed his eyes once more.

“I can report you to management so you will never be allowed in the store again because your harassing employees… how about that?” Jinx smiled sweetly at him and cocked his head in the opposite direction.

Kurono pursed his lips and looked slightly defeated for a second before he brightened again.

“I can just buy the whole store? It looks like it's kind of failing anyways I bet the manager wouldn't mind giving it up?”

Jinx blinked at him, he realized he had no comeback and stared at the man dumbfounded.

Kurono’s smile widened.

Jinx glared at him and decided to pull out the big guns.

“Do that and I definitely will never like you.”

Kurono wilted and seemed to almost shrink as he back up a few paces, his hands made a bowing down gesture.

“You win you win.”

“I always win!” Jinx smirked at him.

Kurono sighed.

“You are very competitive I see….” Kurono rolled his eyes over to look at Jinx who was basking in victory.

“............So?” Jinx raised an eyebrow.

Kurono threw his head back and laughed, startling Jinx.

“Ahhh….. You are definitely interesting I will give you that.”

Jinx frowned.

“Is that supposed to be a compliment or an insult?”

“Mhm….it's a compliment because it's my way of saying you are funny.”

“Oh? I am rather funny looking I guess.” Jinx snorted and leaned against a shelf as he raised an eyebrow at him.

Kurono frowned.

“No you are kind of hot, not funny looking.”

Jinx blanched and shook his head at the man.

“I think once those horns of your grew back inside your head they must have stabbed your brain because everything you say is lacking intelligence.”

Kurono raised an eyebrow.

“Oh? Is complimenting your appearance something you do not like? But you must have had a few guys hit on you before? With the whole succubus aura thingy you got going on around you?”

“It's only the stupid power thingy that I literally have no idea how to control because I can't even feel it!” Jinx hissed.

“Well I will admit the power is very strong your appearances is even more so intoxicating.” Kurono smirked at him and Jinx just continued to glare at him.

He slowly raised up his middle finger to the man.

He earned a sigh in return.
