She was in her gear and motioned for him to come with her. "Come on." She said and Nio looked at Jay curiously. He nodded and Nio stepped forward. May blinked. 'You can come too." She said and told them to follow her. They followed her to the briefing room. Nio walked to the window and looked out of it.

May started explaining what was going on to Jay and the rest of the team. They nodded and went to get gear. "Hey stay in the room ok." Jay said, pulling Nio aside. He nodded and avoided Jay's gaze. Jay narrowed his eyes but didn't say anything. He hugged Nio goodbye and left to go on the run.

Nio turned around and went to the room. He paced back and forth deciding what to do. He sighed and blinked back tears. Nio grabbed a backpack and some clothes. He grabbed some protein bars and closed the door behind him. The hallway was dark as he went up to the roof.

It was almost midnight as he stood on the edge of the roof. He let out a breath. It was the middle of May.  "I'm sorry." He whispered and took off. He went north, to a new place. He wiped his face, tears rolling down his cheeks. Nio ran through what he put on a note in the bedroom.

"I'm sorry. Move on. Please. I can't stay here and not think about how I hurt you." He gasped and pulled his hair back. It flowed behind him as he sped away. Nio stayed quiet and just flew. He didn't have a destination. He just flew.

Jay walked back to the HQ after the run and went into his bedroom. He bit his lip and looked at the empty room. He walked over and saw the note. He covered his mouth and let out a choked sob. He looked at the bracelet on his wrist and threw it across the room. Jay shook and crawled under the covers. "I should have known." He whispered over and over, tears falling down his cheeks.

Jule knocked on his door in the morning and got no answer. He sighed and opened it. Jule's face fell as he realized what had happened. He shook Jay;s shoulder and Jay turned to him. His eyes were puffy and unfocused. "Hey man..." Jule said softly and Jay sighed. He sat up.

"No use dwelling on the past." He said and ripped up the note. Jule stepped back as Jay stood up and went to go change. Jule walked out and went to find Fin. "He's gone." He mumbled and Fin nodded. "I think he is scared of love." She whispered and Jule shrugged.

Jay walked to the mess hall and grabbed an apple. He sniffed and walked out eating it. Jay sighed and went to May. She looked up and her face softened. "Hey." Jay hugged her and whispered in her ear. "If we see him again, we kill him." May's face turned to shock and she nodded stiffly. Jay walked out and tapped something on his phone. 

"I have a date. I'll be  back later." He called and she nodded. He walked out and went to the cafe. Jay smiled at the boy and blushed a bit. They had a fun time talking and Jay got his phone number. He was smiling again when he walked into the HQ. May smiled at him.

Jule looked up and blinked. He poked Fin and she shrugged. "He can't wait for him forever." She said and Jule nodded. The days,weeks, and months passed and Jay had a steady relationship. He happily dated Milo, who seemed to fall in love with him.

Nio on the other hand, was back in town. He pulled up his hood as he walked past the HQ. Nio lowered his eyes and accidentally bumped into someone. He mumbled an apology and noticed they also had wings. He shook his head and let his hood fall down. He had bleached his dark hair and put in contact lenses.

He put sunglasses on and went to the beach. He smiled bitterly at the memories. His hair whipped his face and flowed around him kind of angelic like. Nio laughed out loud and remembered what he said years ago. "I'll never give up." He had said. Nio laughed to himself. (TW SELF HARM.) His arms were covered in scars and deep cuts.

"This is what I get for fucking him over so many times." He said bitterly. He laughed again. It was harsh and short lived. He frowned and turned his back on the sea. Nio flipped his sunglasses up and his now blue eyes blinked. He held his hands to the sky and let himself fall backwards into the sea. Right before he fell his wings lifted him up and he glided up.

Nio let himself swoop over trees and homes. He smiled as the sun started to come up. He twirled in the sky; his daily routine. He hummed to himself and leaped in the sky. Other ravens joined him and flew around him. He twirled around, and the early dwellers watched in awe. 

Milo blinked and stared outside. Jay groaned in the bed and sat up. "What is it babe?" He asked and Milo just motioned for him to come watch. Jay came to the window and saw what Milo was seeing. A person dancing beautifully in the midst of ravens. His jaw dropped when the person bowed and flew off. He stared at their wings and blinked. Another person flew up to him. They had white wings and they started talking.

Nio laughed and it echoed through the quiet city. "No. I can't let another person down." He said and waved goodbye to the person. "Wait- wait. You are beautiful. Why not model?" They asked and Nio smiled bitterly. "I don't really look like this." He said and lifted his glasses. He took out the blue contact lens and blinked.

His gold eye shone in the light of the sun and the white winged person blinked. "Why?" He asked and Nio smiled bitterly. "Someone I hurt lives here. They probably want to kill me." He answered and flew away. His sunglasses clattered to the ground and the white winged man softly landed. He sighed and grabbed the sunglasses.

"He comes around once a month and dances above the city." Milo said and Jay blinked. "People say he does it because he feels guilty. Others because he just wants to. I say that he has someone special here. Funny, this time he has blond hair." Jay's head snapped up. "Wonder why it changed.." Milo wondered and shrugged. 

"Anyway. I got a meeting I have to go to." Jay said and changed. Milo nodded and was texting with someone. "Bye." Jay said and Milo just grunted. He sighed and left the house. He walked down the city streets and found sunglasses on the ground. He shook his head and put them in his pocket. He crossed the street, and almost tripped thanks to a kid who was running. He mumbled an apology and took off down the street. 

He shook his head and opened the door the HQ. Jay waved to the people in the lobby and went to the meeting room. "Ok so, we have a run today. Supposedly there is a fighting ring. Seems to have some kids trapped." May said and Jay nodded. Jule whispered to Luce and they giggled. Bee sighed and Mira blinked. 

"Get to it." May said, sending Mira the location. She nodded and they went to gear up.

Nio ran down the street and opened the door to the warehouse. "Clear out." He yelled and the owner looked at him curiously. "The Night Owls have your location. Run." He said and they nodded. "I'll take the kids." He said and went to the small room. He opened the door and three small kids looked at him. He grabbed their arms and pulled them out.

The people were clearing out by the backdoor and Nio bent down. "Look like you are happy." He said and they nodded. They looked fine and he herded them out the door. "This way kids." He said nicely and they nodded quickly. He put on his hood and had them walk down the street. He saw the van that they always used, drive down the street.

He lowered his head as it came screeching to a halt. "Those look like the kids." Jule said and Mira sighed. "Alright let's go." She said and they parked the car. Nio hunched over. "When I yell scatter, scatter. Get to the beach." He whispered in their ears and heard someone yell for him to stop. He started walking quickly, trying to get to his car. 

Jay growled and ran after them. Nio yelled "SCATTER." The kids ran in different directions and Nio opened his wings and started flying. Jay snarled and took off as well. Luce followed one of the two boys and Jules took the other one. Maki ran after the girl. Nio zig-zagged through the city and tried to lose Jay.

He dived down and hid in an alleyway. Jay followed him and walked into it. Nio stiffened and steadied his breathing. Jay walked closer to his hiding spot and Nio popped out, running. Jay yelled and ran after him. Nio got to the beach and dived into his hiding spot. He heard people yelling, confused. 

He crawled around and popped out the side. He saw the three kids and motioned for them to very quietly come in. They went in one at a time and stayed quiet. He breathed a sigh of relief as the team left.
