The tide again came as she pulled her feet back against the water, hissing, casting her hands against the water she itched her ankles. Back peddling she made her way through the sand taking a deep breath her lungs filled with a heavy scent. Her hand quickly flew to her back, reaching she grabbed. 'Still there?' Gone, her hand returned empty, reaching around she patted down the space about her, nothing. Bringing her hands to her nose she took a long breath.
"Blood?!"

Ayumi coughed as she spat out on the sands a dark red matter, with droplets of the same began to fall from her nose onto the back of her hand.
"Mine…?" She let out a sigh holding her finger to her nose she wiped away the coagulating liquid. "Mine…"
Turning her head about she eyed the world before her, a hazed blue horizon filled her vision. She rubbed her eyes with the palms of her hands. "Eyes work..." The scene's haze continued to drift across her line of sight. Swallowing the dried blood at the back of her throat, it slid down filling up the void in her stomach. "Yuck." Her fingers ran across the sands that surrounded them coming across something she rubbed it between her fingers, rough fabric, squinting she looked. A short distance from her a form lay half on its side.
"Fog person?" Leaning over she reached tapping the form across the back. "Oi. Oi."
A soft groan came from the form as it slapped away Ayumi's hand inhaling a lung full of sand as they did. Rolling over they coughed. "Get off…" The voice responded in a raspy wave wiping away the sand plastered to their face.
"Sorry, making sure you ain't dead, you okay?" Ayumi squinted at the other.
"How about try doing that before you fill a space with… what was that stuff." Sitting up they pulled back their hair from their face, theirs meeting the others. "What's with your eyes!?" The other backed away as it peered at hers, the white of the eye was now filled over in a milky red.
"I don't know what do they look like?" Ayumi began feeling around the sand again. "I don't suppose you see Hakk anywhere do you?"
Leaning forward the other approached Ayumi and began waving their hand before her. "Are you blind?"
"No, well somewhat at the moment I think? They are really itchy, I think maybe I got sand in them."
"They look like they are bleeding." The other reached with their finger as Ayumi turned right straight into the extended digit.
"Hey now, get-off now!" Ayumi winced as she pulled away with her brows furrowed at the other a slight hiss escaping from between her teeth.
"Sorry… and your exposed friend is up there, um behind you." They took Ayumis wrist and pointed in the direction of the other.
"Thanks." Ayumi began poking at the corners of her eyes. "Ow…"
"What are you doing?" The other extended a perplexed look as they grabbed at her other wrist.
"Seeing if they pop so I could see, I can see better sorta out of the one you poked."
"Are you an infant?" Their eyes wide as they stared at the other.
"Not most days." Ayumi shrugged her shoulders as her wrists were released. "Don't suppose our stuff is nearby?"
"It's waterlogged, but..." The other reached towards their feet and pulled up the wooden box and satchel to her hands. "I think it's all here, you wouldn't let go of them."
Ayumi hands grazed the edges of the box and satchel. "You saved us?" Her head tilted to the side.
"No, I saved myself you just so happened to also not want to let go of me or those." They adjusted their ragged cloak pulling it up about their neck. "Your friend saved himself."
Ayumi's nose flared as her gaze narrowed to the general area of Hakk. " BAD HAKK!"
"I think we may have lost the clothes though…"
From Ayumi mouth echoed a hearty roar as she doubled over snorting she gasped for breath, she continued to laugh until small tears formed in the corners of her eyes.
The other stared at her as the rushing of the waves came closer. "Are you done?"
Snorting again she cleared her throat as she took in breaths. "Those were his new ones." She held her stomach as sat up resting on her knees. From there she stood up wavering slightly on her feet. The sand beneath her gave way as her toes buried from the hot grains of the top to the cool underbelly beneath it. "Least it was a beach and not a cave..."
Her eyes scanned about, behind her the rush of the ocean nipped at her heels, in front a green haze lay some distance from the sandy shores, looking to either side the shore itself ran until in a distant part was engulfed in a further green haze. Taking a few steps her eyes caught the edges of a path in the sand. Looking up she followed it until it ended at the form that was Hakk. Taking her yukata off she lay it over his torso.
"Hakk?" She turned to face the other with a solemn expression. "This is Hakk right?"
The other just stared goggly-eyed. "Yes…?" A slight twitch formed at the edges of the other's eyes as the stood up. "BUT WHY ARE YOU MOVING! YOU CAN BARELY SEE YOU SHOULD BE SITTING STILL BEFORE YOU WALK YOUR SELF OFF A CLIFF OR SOMETHING!" They let out a sharp sigh as they ran their fingers through their matted hair muttering under their breath.
"Okay." Ayumi sat down cross-legged. "But could you first use that stuff I put on your arm, those things got his leg before we escaped."
The other looked to Hakk's leg, underneath the dried sands that covered his leg there were purple hues and veined lines that crept up his leg.
"Yeah."
-----
Night came across the shore the three sat about a small fire on the beach, before them the waves quietly rushed against the shoreline and retreated. The air was heavy and with little breeze save for what rose from the waters. Distantly the nightlife could be heard calling to each other in a barrage of noises that faded into each other. Ayumi sat with knees to her chin about a hand reach from the fire. Hakk still faced down in the sand lay to her left covered in the patchwork jacket, and the other sat with back to the fire facing the ocean tides.
"Sorry about your place." Ayumi's eyes gazed into the fire as it danced in the small pit made for it a couple of stones almost forming a circle.
"Yeah…"The words almost carried away with the tide on coming.
Distance filled the air as the fire cackled, turning to face the fire the other sat hunched over and cross-legged. "What's the plan now.."
"Wait." Ayumi pulled from her satchel the lizards, sniffing them she shrugged and began to eat them, offering the other up.
"Until?"
"I don't know if the forest behind us is like the one we came from if it is we might not be safe here."
The others arm hairs stood on edge as goose bumps formed, his vision trailed to the now void abyss behind them. "So we wait for what?"
"My eyes? Hakk?" Ayumi poked at Hakk's foot. "Any time now?"
"How long will that be."
Ayumi shrugged her shoulders. "Varies."
"How about we just walk along the beach until we find people?"
"Hakks pretty heavy unless you plan on leaving, I mean if you want you are welcome to go, but I'm not without him."
"Go where… my place was... I don't even know where here is." Their head sunk as the laid against the sand their vision trailing to the light of the fire.
Ayumi leaned back with her hands folded behind her head.
"I bet the stars are pretty tonight."
"It's cloudy..."
Ayumi smiled as she closed her eyes. "I bet they are still pretty."
