The man came back, to the spot he had met the girl in, everyday until she would return. Admitting he thought she may not even know how to get back here. He still silently hoped she would though. He did do what she recommended every time, which was to take in the sights while he waited for her.
Then one day when he was about to leave he heard a small cry out “Oh, Hi. Are you about to leave?” It was the young girl he met all those days ago.
“Amm, Yes” he said, unsure of what else to say. He was sure he would not run in to her again, that he didn`t really put to mush thought in to what to say, even though had wished too.
“Oh, sorry that it took so long to meet up again. It was a little difficult to get away from everyone.” She explained to him, while rubbing the back of her head then her arm. She looked at the ground, because she felt like she let someone down.
“It`s fine. I understand everyone has their own responsibilities that they must take care of.” he said trying to make her feel better.
“Really?” She said finally meeting his gaze.
“Yes” he said smiling softly at the girl in front of him. Then her returning the smile back.
“Amm, this is yours I believe.” He said blinking breaking the gaze while handing the girl back her caped hood.
“Oh. Thank you.” She said shocked, not expecting to get it back.
“So, I don`t think I got your name last time.” She pointed out, hugging the cape in her arms and looking back at him as if trying to hide the fact that they had forgot all formalities last time.
“Oh, mmm, my name is William” He told her, bowing slightly.
“Well I`m …” she began and was cut off by William when he said “Danial” looking at her with a smirk dancing on his lips.
“How did you know?” She began to question.
“I`m not deaf.” He stated.
“What?” she questioned.
“Last we met, your ‘keeper?’ or so yelled it” he explained.
“Oh, right.” She remembered and hit her head. “Sorry, I forgot” she apologized.
“It`s fine. I guess It has been a while.” He stated.
“So, I guess you were leaving right?” she questioned
“Amm. I guess” he said more like a question.
“OK, then we should meet back here tomorrow. Is that good with you?” She pleaded.
“Y.. Yes, I should be back out this way tomorrow.” He conformed.
“Great, then see you then.” She said with eyes filled with happiness. She then turned and ran back in the direction she came from. She stopped only for a second and turned back and said, “And please call me Danni.” She then turned and continued on her way. William once again smiled at the oddity that is this girl.
They met many more times after that, sharing with each other the tales that occur out side of their time together and just taking time to take in and enjoy the nature around them. William had even escorted her through parts of the forest that was said to be too dangerous for even the bravest of men. Luckily unknown to her she walked with no man, but maybe the scariest creature there. They viewed the most beautiful of places, one being this majestic waterfall, that if Danni didn`t know any better would of swore it was diamonds, for each splash glow like that of a diamond. She was completely mesmerized by it so mush that it made William smiled at the fact that he could give her something that no else had. He also just loved seeing her smile and her ocean blues eyes glow in wonder. After that he tried to find more places she had never seen and showed them to her. Then after that he asked about different creatures and if she seen them and then he would take her to see them. They saw creature that Danni thought only existed in stories, like fairies, satyrs and even scary ones like werewolves. Which she found strange that they never attacked them; they did stay hidden, but still weird.
During this time, he realized that it wasn`t just the fact that he liked seeing her face glow in wonder or the fact that he could do what no one else could for her, but it was the fact that he liked being by her side and actually wasn`t appalled by her like he is with most humans. She made him feel whole and happy like no creature ever had.
“I think I like you” he confessed to her.
“R..Really” she stuttered and turned as red as a tomato.
“Yes” he stated plainly not looking at her.
“Well I like you too” she confessed. Though knowing it may not be able to happen, but it was how she felt and she couldn`t lie about that.
“You do.” He said happily shocked.
“Yes, but…” she took a breath.
“But what?” he sorrowfully asked.
