I walked back into the courtroom and saw the judge with a stack of papers in his hand. Everyone was standing and awaiting the sentencing. The jury was entirely sat, and I tried not to look at Jeremy and his brothers while I stood to the left of Xavier.
I could still feel his stares at me, though.
The judge told everyone to sit back down, and he pulled out some glasses I didn’t notice before.
“First we will be reading the sentence for Jake Fisher and Jack Fisher. Jake Fisher is found guilty of being an Accomplice to Jeremy Fisher and will have four years of prison time and the suspension of his medical license. Jack Fisher is found guilty of Child Molestation and will face twenty-five years without the possibility of parole.”
I didn’t see their reactions, but I heard the sounds of chains hitting the table with a depressing thud.
The judge sighed. “Now the sentencing of Jeremy Fisher. Words from the jury read, ‘We, the jury, being fully paneled and sworn in do at this moment find proof beyond a reasonable doubt that the aggravating circumstances that the defendant was found guilty of committing due outweigh the mitigating factors presented in court earlier. We therefore unanimously recommend that the sentence of death should be imposed upon Jeremy Fisher’” The judge made a face at the decision.
“You are sentenced to death in a year for the actions you have done. The court is adjourned.”
The judge banged his hammer and got up to leave. I heard Jeremy huff defeatedly and saw his lawyer leave the room swiftly. I felt this weight being lifted from my chest as I felt people hugged me from behind. Two pairs of hands encircled my body, and I heard Kyle laugh with relief from behind me. I looked up at Xavier, and he smiled at me.
“It’s all over now, Kye. You won’t have to worry about them anymore” I finally smiled at him genuinely and he looked behind him.
32. It’s finally all over.
“Now let’s leave this place and get some food. I’m starving,” Xavier gave a burly laugh, and it made me smile even more. Xavier left first with Kyle following him. Donna and Nicole left my side and followed them while I took up the rear.
I didn’t get far until I heard a shout and an arm wrap around my torso.
I saw everyone move in slow motion and turn around to look at me. A metal barrel was pushed under my chin, and the stoic men by the doors all had their guns pointed at me. I looked at the jury, and they were all hiding in their pew. One of the men in uniform was on the ground holding his privates, and I saw the gun holster empty. I slowly looked up to see that the people (that sat in the audience were cowering) except Liam- who just looked pissed as hell.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jake and Jack Fisher with coaxing hands towards the person behind me, but I don’t think he heard them.
“You can’t get rid of me that easily, my little bird” Jeremy licked the right side of my neck and bit down harshly. I didn’t get the chance to scream as I looked to Xavier and Kyle with my arms outstretched. Xavier and Kyle tried running towards me but was stopped short from Jeremy pointing a gun in their direction.
Jeremy tugged at my flesh with his teeth in me and released it when he was satisfied. He licked it clean of blood, and his rough tongue made me feel insanely dirty. My neck stung like a wasp sting, and I winced as Jeremy kissed it like it was his baby. I craned my head to see Jeremy, and he smiled at me eerily while trails of rubies leaked from his mouth like a faucet.
“Drop him right now,” an authoritative voice boomed. Jeremy’s eyes went dull, and his hold on me was gone. I hit the floor with a thud, and my head smacked the ground. It made me dizzy, but I recognized Liam’s figure and reached my hand to him.
He reached out a hand, but I felt something grasp my ankle.
“You really thought you could leave me that easily?” Jeremy slid me farther away from Liam, and I felt my heart breaking a bit.
“Oh, you’re both mates! So cute really, but it’s a shame I just marked him” Jeremy gave a cheeky smile, but I didn’t quite understand what he said.
Liam seethed with tangible rage and started walking towards me. He stopped after taking a step, and I looked behind me to see Jeremy point a gun at my back. “You take one more step, and he meets Jesus.”
“Put the gun down, now!” Liam spoke with a power-filled voice.
Jeremy laughed. “Foolish Alpha, you have forgotten that when someone is sentenced to the death penalty then the Alpha voice, Beta voice, and Gamma voice don’t work!”
“You’ve planned this” Liam glanced down at me, and I took my hand off my neck to try and stand up. Jeremy saw this and stomped on my back- knocking the wind out of me.
“I sure did, and the only person who can get out of this is Kye” I looked at him, and he angled the gun at Jack Fisher.
“Unfurl your wings, or he dies.”
“But-” Jack Fisher started to plead for his life but was cut off.
“Stop! You tried to deflower my bird, and that was not in the plans! So you die first unless Kye unfurls his wings.”
I craned my body towards him as much as I could with my right ankle in his grasp. I was fully facing him, and he looked at me with static eyes. “I don’t have wings, Jeremy.”
Jeremy’s answer was a gunshot.
I heard a body slump and looked. Jack Fisher was no longer standing.
Jeremy cocked the gun and pointed at Jake. “Unfurl your wings.”
I heard Jake start to mumble some things, but I kept a steady but terrified gaze on Jeremy.
“I don’t have wings, Jeremy!”
Another shot. Another body thud.
Jeremy put the gun under his own chin. My eyes widened.
“You either unfurl your wings, or I’ll make you.”
I didn’t answer because he knew the answer. He pulled the trigger, and blood fell on me like rain. His body dropped the gun, and it made a light tap once it hit the ground. His head faced the sky and the tension that I didn’t notice in the room dissipated.
His body started to wobble and fall, but Liam pulled out from under him in time. He grabbed my face to look for injuries, and I heard Xavier and Kyle come near and ask me questions, but I was still focused on Jeremy’s body.
A medium sized green ball rose from his back and hovered over his body. Two similar sized balls joined it and they all combined to make one big ball. It licked the air and beckoned me towards it. It hovered over the floor with paranormal energy and slowly started moving towards me.
My body stiffened up, and Liam started to try and get my attention. I felt someone pat my arm, and someone tried to snap their fingers in my sight. I didn’t flinch, but my eyes did widen as the orb pulsated as it moved. I couldn’t take my eyes off of the ominous sphere coming closer and closer.
It finally got right in front of me and started seeping into my chest. It felt like someone trying to shove their hand into your chest, and it made me groan in pain a bit. My back arched before going back to normal and my body hummed with energy.
I weakly looked up at Liam, and he stopped talking and looked at me in the eyes. He hooked his arms around me and brought me to his chest. Xavier came into my eyesight, and he stopped talking once he saw my eyes. I felt myself moving, but I couldn’t move a single limb. Someone was holding my hand, but I couldn’t look at who it was.
I felt my eyes close, and I let them.
