Mahalia is a neutral country known for its academic and magical innovations. Like many royal families, they have a Touched Child, one who has been gifted with one of the eight elemental Arcana first possessed by Indira, the goddess and creator of their world, Enid.
None of this matters as far as Adrian is concerned. He is no such child and part of no such family. A sex worker by consequence of an abusive, gambling mother, Adrian lives his life in the four walls of a brothel in Senoho, the desert capital of Senosolvia.
His life takes a turn however when a young, unassuming boy named Darrius buys him out from under his cruel master’s nose. When asked why, Darrius explains that he is needed for a project but gives no further details. Adrian doesn't need to deliberate between the boy's proposition and his master's daily abuses to know what he'll choose.
