Nio held Jay's body in his arms and kissed his cheek. There were tears rolling down his cheeks as he was pulled away and put into the dark room. The chain was tied to the wall and he struggled to breathe. The clink of the chains on his feet as he curled up scared him. Nio shook, scared and alone.
Jay awoke to being in the room he was before and sitting against the wall. Bee looked at him with worry as Fin talked lowly with Jule. Luce was talking with Reah and Lila while Noah was asleep. His eyes darted around and he shakily stood up. He walked to Bee.
"I miss him." Jay whispered and Bee sighed. "I know you do." His head throbbed and he leaned into her. Jay sobbed quietly as Bee held him. "Does May have a tracker?" She asked and Jay nodded. "Yes, Maki or Mira may be able to find us." He said but there was no hope in his voice.
The door slid open and Marcus told them to get up gruffly. They were put outside and Jay looked at the sunrise. It must have been the third day they were there. He looked around and narrowed his eyes. He checked to make sure no one was looking and he opened his wings, flying upwards. Jay looked at the bars and pulled at them.
He slowly started pulling them apart and made a gap. Jay smiled to himself as he started to pull himself up. There was a yell and he felt something get slapped against his ankle. He gasped, the air getting knocked out of him as he got pulled to the ground.
His ankle had the collar thing Nio always wore, the chains clinking. Marcus stood over him. He smirked and snapped his fingers. "Jac, put him with Nio." Jac nodded and pulled Jay with him. Jay grunted and tried to stand up. Jac rolled his eyes and put the chains on his hands and neck. Jac smirked as Jay growled at him.
Jay got dragged into the room with Nio and thrown in. Jay stood up after his leg was attached to one of metal rods on the wall. Nio moaned and picked his head up after Jac kicked him. Jay walked over to where Nio was, his chains clinking on the ground. Nio's eyes widened and he shook his head. Nio started backing away from him but Jay, for once was faster than him.
He grabbed Nio's arms and pulled him to his chest. Nio shook his head and Jay picked his head up and kissed him softly. "I'm not mad." He whispered and Nio nodded. He rasped out, "I- I'm- sorry." Jay nodded and held Nio. "It's ok, it's ok." He whispered over an over, soothing Nio. The days passed as they took Nio out to fight over and over again.
Every time he came back, Jay soothed him. Sometimes it was for hours and others for minutes. Jay made a mental note of everyday and sighed. It had been a month. Nio was sleeping against him. His eyes were hollowed out and his body pale. Jay's body was still it's caramel color and his green eyes were starting to dull.
Nio yelped and whined. "Mommy don't leave. PLEASE. PLEASE, please...." He rasped over and over again. He was shaking and tears were rolling down his cheeks. Jay frowned and rocked him. Nio saw his mother leaving. "I'll be back. I promise." She said and Nio whimpered. "I'll come back baby." She said and he sobbed. She turned away her body shaking. He saw May watching nervously.
He whimpered, flashing forward to the first time he tried to escape. A man came over and smirked a him. It faded to darkness as Nio sat up, hitting Jay in the head. He gasped and Jay smiled weakly. "It's ok.." He soothed and starting rubbing Nio's back. Nio slowly calmed down and rested against Jay's chest.
The door slid open and this time they put a new person in. She sobbed and the man snarled and told her to shut up. The door slammed as the girl looked up. She whimpered and huddled into the corner. Nio looked at her and rasped out. "Hello?" She looked up startled and Jay smiled at her. "It's ok." He said softly and she slowly crawled over.
"I'm Max." She said quietly and Nio tightly smiled at her. Jay smiled and said, "I'm Jay and that's Nio." She nodded and they sat there quietly. "Give him a break. Take the two." Marcus said and the door slid open. Jac grabbed Jay and Max, pulling them to the arena. Jay fought multiple people and his nose got broken. He fell to the floor as he faded in and out.
The lights went out and people started running. There were large lights and Jay blinked, confused. He lay on the cement floor as someone leaned over him. "IS EVERYONE OUT." They yelled and Jay grunted sitting up. The woman pursed her lips and helped him up. "No." He said and she looked at him confused.
"There- is... ---------." He trailed off his vision blurring. The woman picked him up and put him on a stretcher. There was a loud bang and she yelled for someone to do one last check. They started working on Jay as a firetruck pulled to the curb. The building was smoking and they quickly went in there. Bee yelled when she saw Jay.
"NIO." She screamed and Jay twitched hearing his name. "Nio..." He mumbled under the oxygen mask. There was yelling and chaos as the firemen searched the building. One by one they came back empty handed. It was only when someone screamed for a stretcher, that Nio was found. He was unconscious and lying on the ground limply.
He was brought out and put on a stretcher. Jay was already on the way to the hospital and Nio went into another ambulance. He moaned in pain as they started treating his burns. The talked softly as he faded in and out. Nio awoke to a white room and hushed voices. He blinked and groaned.
The doctor looked over and Jay walked in. Luckily Jay was unhurt and had a small concussion. He looked at Nio on the bed. 'Oh thank god.." He whispered and sat in the chair next to the bed. Nio blinked at him. "What- what happened?" He asked, his voice raspy from being unused. "Maki called the authorities. They tracked down May."
Jay looked at his hands and Nio nodded. "Fire-.." He whispered and Jay looked up. "Yes, Marcus set in on fire. He- he is in prison." Nio nodded. "They found your mother." Jay mumbled and Nio made a strangled noise. "???!!!" Jay looked up. "I- She's here." Jay said as she walked in. Nio blinked at the woman in front of him.
She had pale skin and golden eyes. Her hair was black and she looked frail. She had obviously been crying. "It's you." He whispered. Undoubted, he recognized her from his dreams. She nodded and Jay smiled at her. "I- I'm so sorry Nio." She whispered and he just smiled at her. "I never resented you." He explained.
"I- I remember you saying you would come back." He whispered and his voice broke. "I- I tried so hard Nio. Every time I found out where Marcus was, he had left." She said hugged herself. "I- I ruined your childhood, he said he would raise you as his own. He said you would be safe. That bastard." She whispered and covered her face.
Nio looked at her calmly. "He said that you hated me. That you sold me because I was a disappointment." Nio said and Jay grasped his hand. "No, you were a miracle." His mom whispered and left the room, crying. Nio wiped his eyes and Jay looked at him. "She does love you Nio." He said and Nio nodded silently. "I know." He whispered and fell back asleep.
For the next few days, visitors came in and out of his room. He was asleep for most of the days, his body exhausted. Nio was finally discharged and Jay drove him back to the HQ. Luckily, the authorities paid for the damages and it was better than ever. The HQ was bustling and Nio waved to a couple people he recognized.
Jay and Nio made it back to their room, where Loui was. Nio beamed at Loui and hugged him. Loui grinned as his tongue lolled out of his mouth, licking Nio. He laughed as Jay sat on the bed watching them. "Jay." Nio said suddenly. "I love you." He finished and Jay smiled at him. He got up and sat on Jay's lap. "I'm sorry but le doctor said I can't have sex for awhile." Nio said smirking.
Jay rolled his eyes and kissed Nio's neck leaving a mark. "Mk." He mumbled. Nio giggled. He had scars forming on his skin from the burns but he came out unscathed otherwise. Jay marveled at his resilience to everything that life had put him through. Jay ruffled his hair and leaned back, falling asleep.
Nio smiled at him and pulled the covers over them, falling asleep pressed against Jay.
