Calling

Calling

May 18, 2019

The PA turned on, interrupting our lovely conversation.

‘Class eight A, Akira Kokuto, please report to the principal’s office immediately.’ The static turned off, and Karin gave me an I-told-you-so look.

She should’ve told me sooner.

‘Well then, I’m off,’ I said casually, getting up and slinging my bag over my shoulder. Karin lay her head down on my desk, looking at me ponderously. I have to admit, her short brown hair and piercing blue eyes made her quite cute so long as she didn’t open her mouth.

Which wasn’t such a common occurrence. She frowned as if reading my thoughts. Sometimes I really wondered whether or not she was psychic.

‘Why are you staring at me? Go.’ Shaking my head, I made my way out of the classroom.

This was going to be a long day.

I don't believe in miracles. That's why I rejected the most popular girl in school when she confessed to me with a flushed face, her eyes planted on the ground. Admire as I did, I couldn't bring myself to love her.
