TW - SUICIDE.ABUSE. ALL THAT JAZZ

The world is a cruel place. God dammit it's the fucking worst place in the universe. The boy watched the river go by. There were people walking along it as it was the afternoon. He was small and had raggedy clothing on. Many weeks later people say he was to young to die.

"He was only 13." One woman said reading the news. They didn't even know him. Fuck they didn't even give a damn about him. Funny how people care about things when they can't hurt them. He snorted and turned his face to the sky. It was blue and beautiful.

There was a short, harsh, laughter as he sobbed. No one noticed the small boy standing at the top of a building and crying. No one cared. He grinned, not in his right mind. He got down and walked to the shack that was called home. There was yelling as his father was drunk. He snuck in and went to his room.

Or what he called his room. It was barely bigger than a stall. He shrank back as his father lumbered toward him. He was a tall, thickly built man. He beat down the boy with a beer bottle. He ran sobbing from the home as night started to fall. He knocked into a kid from his school and his parents.

He gasped and mumbled an apology. The kid grabbed his hand and they pulled him back to their house. The boy was cautious and never looked them directly in the eyes. He was quiet and silent. His eyes were faded as he looked through life with a dull gaze.

The boy tried to make him happy but he could tell that he was fading. He heard sobbing multiple times during the night and tried to comfort him. It worked for a few times but as the days passed it just got worse. The boy looked at him with sorrow in his eyes. The boy smiled tightly at him and hugged him.

"Thank you." He whispered and left the house. The boy watched as he left and started walking to the river. He stood on the ledge for the last time and laughed bitterly. The river was full from the rain. It roared over the rocks and the foam sprayed up.

The boy looked up at the shining moon. It was blinding with a happiness that he knew he could never achieve. He looked at the stars and made one last wish, knowing that come morning, he would never see them again. The boy flew with a grace off the building. His skinny arms that were always out of place belonged.

The huge green eyes that his teachers always adored were dull and dark as he hit the water. His freckles stood out like a constellation on his face as he faded with the coming sunrise. His body hit the water with a large splash, alerting the old watchman to call an ambulance. He was pulled out and they got him breathing- just barely.

The boy sat next to him in the hospital bed as his eyes fluttered open. His green eyes were dull and losing life. The boy cried against him as he rasped out his final words.

"I love you." He whispered and fell silent. The boy shook against him. "I know. I know." He cried knowing that he was the reason his father hated him.

"Jacob... you will finally belong to something as worthy as you." He said kissing the boy's forehead. He sobbed as his mother pulled him away. "Jasper, it's ok. It's ok." She whispered while holding the weeping child. He grew up and never regained the happiness.

Teacher's asked if he was ok year after year. He nodded and smiled. "Yes. Jacob belongs." He would answer and wave goodbye. The teachers would be confused but nonetheless he would always explain without fail; who Jacob was to anyone who asked.
