I dragged myself with whatever strength left to my locker and got myself a new set of fresh clothes. After getting changed, I headed toward Tyler's office while filling my mind with all sorts of thoughts.
Is he mad? Yes. Would he forgive me? Probably not. Is my fate doomed no matter what kind of excuse I use? Most likely.
Shit.
"Well, technically it was your fault, and I do remember warning you not once, not twice but four times! Yet you still chose to act so foolishly. Why am I still your partner for god sake, I could die any moment when we are out on the field. "Nightmare yelled in my thoughts, seething with anger.
He was right, it was my fault. My decision had put not only mine and my partner's life on the line, but also my others teammates, Blake and Raven. As team leader, I failed. I couldn't even make the right choice when it was so obvious.
"I warned you FOUR times !" Nightmare interrupted, clearly to emphasize that he is displeased with my action.
Why didn't I listened to him? Why did I thought chasing a possessed human into unknown territory was a good idea? Why am I even the team leader? What would had happened if we were to get caught, could I or the others ge-
Drowning in my own thoughts, I didn't noticed that I had reached Tyler's office and had walked straight into the door with a huge 'thud'. Losing my balance, I stumbled backwards while failing ,not so gracefully, onto the cold hard tiles.
"You seem like you need some help." a familiar deep voice resonated. I pulled my head up while still wincing in pain, and saw Blake smiling, offering his stretch out palm which I gladly accepted.
"Thanks"
"Don't mention it, you look awfully stressed out which I fully understand, Tyler isn't someone anyone would like to cross... but what were you so deep in thought about?"
"Just... normal things you know? I was trying to remember if I got eggs in my fridge." I answered, trying to sound casual. He didn't need to know, no one needed to know.
"LIER" Nightmare screeched.
I ignored it as I stood in front of the metal door, in which has a sign, with bold letters, 'Tyler' written on it. Sighing, I took a glance at the equally nervous boy before reaching out for the handle and pushed it down, effectively opening it with a 'click'. The cold breeze from the room seeped out, chilling me right through the core, my skin all crawled up.
With much hesitation, I poked my head in and saw a figure standing by the window, back turned towards me.
"Come in" he said while gesturing towards the two empty seats at his desk, "Sit, and we will talk".
Slowly, taking a few careful and well calculated steps, I made my way to the chairs and took a seat, Blake following soon after.
I was nervous. My whole body tingled, and my fingers couldn't stop shaking. Even when I had them placed on my lap, I was fidgeting with it, trying to distract myself from the figure looming right in front. My pupils darted around the room, desperately seeking for something to calm myself from this dark depressing room, which I myself don't even know.
"Where's Raven" Tyler voiced out after a few, anxiety filled, minutes later.
"I don't-"
Before I could even answer, Raven had let herself in (without knocking, mind you), and made her presence known.
"Here, and make this quick. I have somewhere to go after this." she deadpaned, and at the corner of my eyes, I swore I saw Blake visibly paled.
She was always quite a... brave lad.
"Well," Tyler started, "you see, that's the problem"
He turned around, now facing us with a disappointed look.
"You three are NOT suited for going into the wasteland. She's got an awful attitude, he's shaking like a leaf, and you, as a leader, are guiding them straight into dangers that even a goddamn rookie, or my 5 year old niece, could clearly decipher."
"I mean, he is not wrong." Nightmare laughed, while I rolled my eyes.
"Yes, I know, and I am here to let you know that we are working on them. Everyone has flaws, don't they? We are gi-"
"Flaws my ass. Where you entered, it was LURKING with demon possessed bodies! You know that!" He yelled as he pinched the bridge of his nose, heaving out a heavy sigh.
"It practically had signs screaming right in front of you with bright neon lights, stating that it is filled with danger, and yet here we are, discussing things that should never occur, in my bloody office. You lads should be doing some messenger mission, rather than claiming to have the potential to go on a mission on the wasteland, and almost died. The best part about it was that I was the one who had agreed to let you guys go, even when you instructor, had clearly told me not to. "They were not ready" he said, but poor old me had seen some good, some potential in you, and decided to let you run off freely into god knows what danger. What happened out there? Wasn't the mission just to go scout some unknown area, bring back some information?"
"We saw a possessed, and went after it..." Blake mumbled softly.
"Told you it wasn't a good idea", I heard Raven spoke from the back, not helping.
"Unlike all of you, I learn from my mistake." Tyler suddenly said.
I tilted my head to the side, confused. Was he praising himself? That cocky bastard.
"So, I have decided, after some thinking, that you three, would be refrain from any of these mission for the time being, and go back to school. Case closed"
Shit.
