The next day morning, Jayviet walked downstairs. She went into the kitchen and sat at the table to eat her breakfast. Her mom was standing behind her looking out the windows. "Mom, you don't need to put both your hands on the window glasses. They might see how silly you look," Jayviet told her mom while eating her scrambled egg sandwich. But her mom didn't listen and continue to look outside with a grin on her face. After a while, "Oh! Its here! Its here! What a wonderful carriage you are going to ride!" Jayviet's mom told her. Vege took a bread from the table and start eating his breakfast as well. Jayviet sigh and drank a glass of water ready to leave. Her mom opened the door for her and Jayviet walked out the fence and to the carriage. "Bye-bye and take care!" Jayviet's mom waved. "Bye..bye..," Vege started to cry waving his paws as well. "After all these years we've spent together Jayviet is going to leave me...."Vege continued. "Oh don't worry. Because its not the end yet. I've got a plan. Now get inside quickly so we can discuss." Jayviet's mom told Vege who is now confused.
Jayviet arrived at the gate and followed a guard who guided her into the palace. She saw how tall and thick the walls were that protected the palace. As they both walked on the bridge deeper into the palace Jayviet was amazed! She saw colorful water lilies and fish that she have never seen in her life before. On the other side of the palace in the garden another carriage arrived as well. From the carriage a girl with an English dress stepped out. It was Vivaland, she was wearing the dress her grandma and her sister choose for her. She followed her guard as well and went into the palace. The big huge doors opened into the hall. There were white porcelain pillars all around and red carpets guided to each door. Jayviet and Vivaland walked in with the guards beside them. Jayviet looked at Vivaland and was quite surprised to see her. “The dress that she is wearing might be quite rare and expensive,” Jayviet thought. “But of course! It’s only natural to see wealthy girls wearing such dress. I will be seeing more girls like her from now on. Just get used to it already!” Jayviet told her self. “Both of you, go and read the papers on the white desk,” the guard beside Jayviet told both of them. The two girls walked toward the white desk without any questioning. Jayviet lifted the paper to her face and read it in her mind. When she was about to finish reading the paper, she saw this one last thing on the list. “Those who have decided to stay in this palace must not go back to their family and leave the palace. Until the person who sign this contract paper graduate in the next four years.” Jayviet grabs a fountain pen beside her and decided to sign the contract paper. She was already expecting this kind of rule. Since she has already heard about the rumors in the village she live in. The King and the Queen have decided to invite girls and boys from all around the world giving them a chance to change their lives by studying at the palace, and allowing them to live in the palace with everything provided. Jayviet didn’t want to come to the palace in the first place because there is only one reason for her. That is because she won’t be able to use her magic for four years! She looked beside her and saw Vivaland taking the fountain pen as well, to sign the contract. Jayviet try to analyze her, “ hmm she has dark purple hair with two curly tips at the end. Pale skin, I wonder where she come from and what her parents do.
Then a woman dressed in a dark blue gown came in and told both of them that she will be escorting them to their dorms. The two girls follow her outside the hallway and over the tall walls, it was sunset already. “The rooms you will be staying for tonight are for temporary. You will be moving to your own room tomorrow after school,” the woman said. “I like your hair color, are you from around here?” Vivaland decided to start a conversation with Jayviet. “Jayviet looked at her and look away, “thank you, I’m from the outskirts of this village.” “My name is Vivaland, I’m from another city named Jako. I’m happy to meet you today,” said Vivaland. “I’m Jayviet, good to see you too,” Jayviet said feeling nervous on the inside. “I thought wealthy girls wouldn’t talk to a commoner like me! I’m quite surprised by this girl, I guess she is not a bad person.” Jayviet never talked to a girl her age before. Since all the people she had talked in her village were old ladies and young children. “Here is your room Vivaland, and you may call me Mrs.Vedrose,” said Mrs. Vedrose as she opened the door which seems to be like the ones from traditional Chinese houses. “What a pretty room,” Vivaland said looking around the simple room. “Well I’ll show you what’s inside the closet and you will be quite surprised!” Mrs. Vedrose said as she opened the closet which look very old. “There are many clothes in here! This blue set look pretty, is it the school uniform?” Vivaland said. “Yes, it is your school uniform. All these clothes are for you, you may ware them while you live in this palace. If you want your things from back at home you can ask me. I’ll make the arrangements and get it for you by tomorrow.” Mrs. Vedrose made a big smile. “Oh thank you, Mrs. Vedrose,” Vivaland said. “Clothes, clothes, I don’t really need that much anyway,” Jayviet said sitting down putting her hands on the rounded table, looking bored. “Yes you will need them since you are going to be living here for 4 years,” Mrs. Vedrose said facing Jayviet. “I have to talk with Vivaland for awhile. If you are bored you can go to your dorms now. It’s just straight down the trees outside. It’s after the second gate, your room is the second one after the first. The door is unlocked so you can go in right away~ Now If I may have my time to talk with Vivaland,” Mrs. Vedrose ended the conversation making Jayviet leave the room.
Once Jayviet was outside it was already dark. “I’ll have to manage on my own now,” Jayviet told her self and started thinking about how her future will be like. Then she heard some leaves rustling behind her. It was from the first gate she had just walked through. Jayviet have good hearings since she live in the forest and she is good with nature. She decides to check if it was just a squirrel or someone that might accompany her to her dorm.
Just then something flying in the sky started calling her name and she got distracted. “Jayviet! Jayviet! Jayviet!” the creature got closer and was huffing. “Where have I heard this voice before?,” Jayviet turn to look around and to her surprise it was Vege. As Vege reached her, Jayviet said, “Vege! Why are you here!? Mom told me not to get too much attention from people! What if someone sees us, and- and realized that I’m a-” Before Jayviet could finish her word Vege said straight, “ your mom sent me here.” Jayviet stopped panicking and relaxed, “Oh, I was worried.” “Here is your bag that I have carried all the way from home,” Vege said as Jayviet took the bag from his small paws. “Your mom packed all the things that you would miss while you are going to be here,” said Vege. “Then what about you? Why are you here?” Jayviet asked. “Why am I here you ask!? Won’t you miss me while you live here for four freaking years!?” Vege gasp in amazement to her question. “But-“ before Jayviet could say anything. “I will be a good bat! I’ll just sleep in your closet all day and never come out until your school hours are over! I won’t eat too much and I won’t make a lot of noise! And-“ Vege stopped as Jayviet decided to let him stay with her.
“I still don’t know the rules in this palace for keeping a bat in a closet secretly,” Jayviet said.
“Well, I will do whatever you,” Vege exclaim.
The two chatted as they walk to the dorms under the moonlight. The trees were quiet and there was nobody around or so it seems. . .
Behind the first gate which Jayviet has walk passed before seeing Vege there were two spies hiding.
“Hey, who are they?” a short girl in fabric mask said.
“I don’t know. I wonder if she is a witch or a necromancer..?” Another girl who is taller than the first girl said to her self.
“Let’s go ask the master!” the short girl said.
They quickly vanish into the bushes and returned to their hideout.
It was a cold hallway, the candles were lit everywhere. But all those candles lights weren’t yellow like the normal ones. All the lights were red and there is no warmth coming from it at all. The two girls swing opened the big back mental door and went inside.
“Master! We were spying on the girls who just came to the palace. And one of them has usual green hair she was talking to a bat!” the short girl announced.
“We want to know what she is” the tall girl said.
“She is a witch but she will become a princess one day! !” a man in black hood respond.
“But if she is a witch there is no way she'll become a princess!” the tall girl was shocked.
“She will Monica! If you don’t believe me go and ask the Snake Queen!” the hooded man repeated in a dark gloomy voice.
“I don’t trust your words! I’ll just go and ask the Snake Queen instead! Come Vet!” Monica called out to Vet and they both rushed out the room. Leaving the hooded man in total darkness. . .
