Chapter 19

Jinx went home and hid away into his room as he waited for his mother to get up and go away to work. He listened to her mess around in the kitchen and let out a sigh of relief as she left the house. He watched as her truck drove away through his window though before leaving his room to once again check the cupboards to see if magically food had appeared.

No dice.

He went and got himself a granola bar from his own food stash in his room he hid from his mother.

His phone suddenly rang.

Given everything Jinx had just said and then disappeared he could only assume who it was, and he did not want to deal with the man for the time being.

He once again thanked the fates above for making it so the man couldn't come near him in his home. Especially since he did not want anyone to see his parents.

No one was allowed to see his home life.

Jinx went over to Merry’s cage and let her out. She came out and moved onto his old mattress which was on the floor instead of a bedframe. She sniffed around on his bed before snuggling close to him.

He gently petted one the few things in his life that gave him any solace.

“Merry Merry quite the contrary.” he mumbled out as sleep overtook him.

His alarm clock blared and Jinx was over to it before he was even awake. Turning it off he blearily looked around the room and sighed. It was roughly 11 in the morning and he had to go to work.

Merry was back in her cage munching on pellets. He went and closed the cage after checking her water, making sure she had enough for the day.

He threw on his uniform shirt and grabbed his things, before taking one last look behind him, wishing he could just stay home in his room.

He shook his head and sighed.

He had a job to do.

Literally.

He closed the door and started walking to the store, scrolling through his phone for entertainment as he went.

As he reached the small store he couldn't help but sigh when he saw who was waiting for him outside of it.

He walked until he was standing in front of the man.

“Kurono.” He said icely, not exactly thrilled to acknowledge the man's existence.

“Jinx I-”

“Save it. I don't need to hear it alright, I don't want you trying to make things better or apologize again.”

Kurono’s lips thinned as he looked towards the ground. Jinx noticed the man still had the tiger he had given him clutched in one of his hands.

“I do not regret the fates making you, but I regret making you feel as if I did.”

Jinx blinked and looked up at the man who turned his eyes back to him.

“You are right, I do not know you enough to say I love you yet. Because our souls are connected I just assumed we were going to be together the moment I met you. I had not thought about your personality or what you wanted….I was just….lonely…. and thought after meeting you I would stop being lonely.” He whispered sadly.

Jinx blinked again at the man and saw that he was truly sad. Jinx had never seen someone show such raw emotion in front of him and it made his insides feel strange as he stared at the man, who was still clutching the tiger.

“If….” Jinx started and stopped for a moment.

Kurono looked up at him in confusion.

Jinx let out a shuddering breath as he looked down.

This is so dumb of you Jinx why would you! Jinx thought as he looked back up at him.

“If you want to properly be friends for now…..I guess….I can try that…. Would that not help you feel less lonely?”

Kurono’s eyes widened and he nodded joyfully.

“Alright….” Jinx let out a breathe.

He held out his hand and Kurono took it in confusion.

Jinx shook the man's hand.

“Hi.. my name is Jinx Hale Creed…. I guess…. Let's be friends?”

Kurono’s eyes widened and his hold on Jinx’s hand grew firmer.

“Hi my name is Kurono Blue Dream…. I would love to be your friend.”

Jinx blinked.

“Blue Dream eh? That sounds cool put together.” He let go of the man's hand.

“Ah well, most Incubus and Succubus have middle names that represent something. The dreams I induce tend to have a blueish tone to it. I’ve always liked the color so it seems to show when I use my powers a lot.”

They walked into the store.

“Mhmmmm sounds interesting.”

“If you would like one day I could show you how my dream powers work?..... No I would not try to seduce you unless you wanted me to.” Kurono said quickly.

Jinx thought about it and slowly nodded.

“Alright… sounds like that could be something we could do. Anyways I need to go punch in ok?”

Kurono smiled.

“I will be waiting out here for when you return.”

Jinx nodded and went into the breakroom to punch in.
