All items stopped radiating, and a rather fierce looking lady was facing them in an egg chair.
‘H-hello?’, Nathan started.
‘Hello.’, she snapped. ‘Welcome to Bluebell Academy.’
November and Bell remained silent, looks on their faces saying it all while Skylar and Nathan’s eyes were filled with questions.
The woman’s eyes softened, and November began to shy away from the table.
‘Wow.’, she giggled. ‘There’s a lot of character development left for you guys.’
No one responded.
‘Okay,’, the lady started. ‘I am Miss Hestia. What does RSVP stand for?’
November looked up suddenly. ‘Réspondez s’il vous plait. And ‘cause I answered, you give me answers.’
‘Okay, fine. Fair trade. What do you want to ask?’, Miss Hestia was looking more than a bit suspicious.
‘I wanna know why we’re here, and why you’re asking questions we can’t resist answering.’
‘Ah, well, you’re here because I teleported you here, and I’m asking questions because I want to.’
Hestia was the target of a glare so dark and cold and soulless that she actually backed away from November.
‘Okay, you’re here because you have backgrounds that are not of a normal human and I’m asking questions because it’s standard procedure.’
‘And what’s that supposed to mean?’
‘One question only, darling November. Now, what was the intention of Pink Mercy in Overwatch?’
Nathan answered this question. ‘To raise money for breast cancer.’
‘Good. Who was not included in Tony Bennett’s Duets II album?’
‘Beýonce!’, Skylar yelled.
‘You three can answer quickly. Now… ‘First think of the person who lives in disguise, who deals with secrets and says naught but lies. Next, tell me the end to mend, the middle of middle and the end of end. Finally, what is the sound often heard, during the search of a hard-to-find word. Now string them together and answer me this. What creature would you be unwilling to kiss?’’
Bell perked up immediately. ‘A spider.’
‘Beat the expertise questions in five minutes.’, Hestia grinned. ‘New record.’
‘Miss Hestia, you can’t just say that and expect us to know what the cheesecake you mean.’, November raised an eyebrow. She could be very sarcastic when she wanted to be.
‘So, we ask you questions, and you’re assessed based on your answering time. You also have powers and elements, so expect to get tested very, very soon.’, Miss Hestia slowed down to become dramatic, then shattered the tension by whipping the door open.
‘Miss November and Mr Bell, off you go, you’re sharing a dorm.’, Hestia shooed the startled pair, somehow floating them off to a previously invisible door.
‘Miss Skylar and Mr Nathan, you may also share a dorm.’, Hestia banished them from the room, and all four were left dazed outside the door.
‘Excuse me, Miss Hestia, why can’t November and I share a dorm and why are we here?’ , Skylar said to the door.
Miss Hestia peeked out quickly. ‘Because I said so and this, is just your destiny Lady Skylar.’
She ducked back in.
Skylar put on a confused face and decided to ignore that comment.
November and Bell were walking up the corridor, November turning back for Skylar.
‘Skylar!’, she called softly, smiling. ‘Come on!’
Skylar followed November up the winding staircases, Nathan following behind.
Arriving at the top of the staircase, two grand doorways awaited them. Golden plaques sat on the wall next to them. They read, ‘Lady Skylar and Prince Nathan’ and ‘Princess November and Prince Bell’.
‘Since when did we have fancy titles?’, Skylar said as she opened her glistening door.
November and Bell stood outside their door, daring each other to open the door with swift glances. After a few minutes of embarrassed silence, Bell gave in and shuffled forward to open the golden door. Inside, lush carpet cushioned the floor, majestic balcony beds wound up the walls, pure white doors led to various rooms and chiffon curtains hid an entrance to a balcony.
Both stepped in, closing a door each. On the left, the colours were more of pastels and tints while the right had darker shades.
‘I like it.’, November mumbled.
‘Me too.’, Bell replied quietly.
They stood there.
