Jonathan approached the room next to the one, he just had cleaned out and listened again. The voices inside seemed to have a little more reverb, suggesting that it was a lot larger than the room next to it but because of that it was also harder to count the individual voices inside.
Jonathan took a deep breath to collect himself, while Sergeij was still slowly approaching another door. Inside the room were maybe four or five people and the door was closed. If he were to storm in, he wouldn’t be able to take out everyone at once, which meant noise. The noise would alert other people and sooner or later they would have all the mansions inhabitants on their heels.
“Sadie”, Jonathan called her through his earpiece. “I’m going to enter a lager room. Others might be alerted to my location.”
“I’m going upstairs to support you. We can risk alerting the people on that floor.”
Jonathan used the wait to unsheathe his sword early and waited for Sadie to arrive. She positioned herself next to him and nodded for confirmation. She also noticed the cuts on his wrist, but that was something they could worry about before moving to the next floor.
With one fell swoop, Sadie kicked the door open and began shooting inside the room. If she wasn’t going to hit anyone, there was a chance of ricochets doing that for her. After three shots she stopped, allowing Jonathan to enter. He managed to cut three people who were standing closest to the door. He hadn’t had the time to behead them, but his blade was good enough the render them immobile for a decent amount of time. At the same time, shots were audible from across the hallway, so Jonathan and Sadie tried to finish off this room quickly. Sadie landed another two shots perfectly between two others’ eyebrows and moved out of the door again, so Jonathan could finish off the other three left in the room.
Jonathan exited the room, sheathing his sword and Sadie stopped him, by grabbing his sleeve.
“Show me your wrist”, she demanded.
With a sigh he raised it for her to look at. “It’s already healing”, he said.
“You should be more careful.”
“I know what my healing ability can and can’t do, boss.”
“Don't get cocky just because you heal faster than other hunters”, she scolded him, “If you’re injured you should talk to Charlotte.”
Jonathan yanked his arm out of Sadie’s hand. “I said, it’s already healing.”
“Why are you like this?”, Sadie mumbled as they were approaching the room that Charlotte was waiting outside.
She out her thumb up, showing them that everything was going well, just as Sergeij exited the room.
“There’s another door inside”, he said.
“We’ll clear that out, just in case”, Sadie said.
Sergeij went first, following him were Jonathan, Sadie and Charlotte in that order. He looked outside and gestured to the others that they could enter.
Unlike the prior rooms, this hallway looked like it was under construction. Slim wood boards were scattered everywhere, the walls and floor were looking as though a fire had ravaged through here a long time ago and they were trying to rebuild it.
Due to everything looking so disheveled, it was hard to estimate how large this hallway was and how many people it held.
