“These aren’t false memories. They are mine.”
Jonathans body went limp and the vampire managed to support him.
“That is impossible”, he croaked, “A human and a vampire cannot bear children.”
“They can. You’re part of the hunter’s council. Have you never wondered why you’re slightly different to them, although you all are similar?”
“No … no that’s impossible”, he said remembering Sadie’s comment from earlier this night.
“I am going to help you. Your friends are waiting downstairs, one of them has been badly wounded by a vampire, am I correct?”
“How will you help me? I feel like I am already at death’s door.”
“You will not like it but I will not let you die under any circumstances. You’ve been given Vampire’s blood, it might’ve healed your wounds but it will not regenerate your body. I will give you human blood.”
“I am not a vampire, why …?”
“The child of a human and a vampire is still part vampire, young hunter. If I give this blood to you, your life will change into a possibly worse direction.”
“I don’t want it.”
“Do you want to die?”
Jonathan remained silent. Of course, he didn’t want to die but he felt almost delirious from the blood loss and the visions. Like this was all a dream from which he would wake up every moment.
He sat up, leaning on his arms as the vampire went to get a small cup. A metallic stench was emerging from it, string enough to make him violently sick. It was different from the smell vampire’s blood had.
“Drink child and help your friends”, the vampire said as he set the cup onto Jonathans lips, who hesitantly gulped down the thick, slightly coagulated liquid.
It burned in his throat like the cuts the other vampires gave him earlier and for a moment he feared that he had been poisoned. But then he felt a sharp pain zap through his body, like all joints were cracking at once.
The pain stopped as soon as it came and the vampire handed his blade to him, after he got up.
“You will need to return here soon; the Council will demand it. I will explain everything to then. Now, go!” He said as he handed him something round and heavy covered in a few linen sheets.
Jonathan exited the room, the guards outside wanted to stop him but halted after the vampire in the room commanded them to let him through.
He clutched the object in his hand. While he regained his senses mostly and didn’t feel as sick as before being tortured, his body was violently shaking. He felt like he needed to vomit on the spot and his hands and knees were still weak.
He continued his way through the mansion, ready to fight anyone off, who wanted to face him.
