“Do half vampires even get fangs?”, he though out loud.
“Should we find out?”, Sadie asked, her voice not more than a faint whisper.
“I am not going to bite you without knowing that!”
“I wasn’t talking about that”, she breathed and closed in.
“Sadie, what are you-?”, Jonathan asked but was cut off by a kiss on his lips. He was surprised at first but quickly returned the kiss. Her lips tasted so sweet that he was surprised when she suddenly removed herself.
“I … I am so sorry”, she said, “I don’t know what’s gotten into me! I can’t imagine a worse time for this, Jonathan I hope- “
“It’s alright”, he tried to calm her down. “But do I have fangs?”
“Y-yes I think so”, she said. If she could she would’ve wanted to vanish right on the spot.
Jonathan confirmed this by running his tongue over his teeth. They indeed felt more like fangs than before.
“Do you still want to …?”, Jonathan felt uneasy saying ‘give me your blood’, so he let the question trail off.
“Yes.”
He brought his mouth to her arm and ran his lips over the fleshier part, as he thought it would hurt less there than at the wrist. He took another breath before clenching his jaws down. He felt his fangs pierce Sadie’s soft skin and she let out a short shriek that she tried to muffle with her hand. He could hear her breathing in short, erratic bursts, but was unable to let go of her for a few seconds. As soon as he could, he did. He hadn’t realized that he held his breath through it all, so now he was also breathing shallowly.
“Are … are you feeling better?”, Sadie asked, her voice clenched, probably in pain.
Jonathan took a moment to be able to tell if that was true. He didn’t feel like throwing up anymore and the shaking also had stopped.
“Yes, I think so.”
“Thank god”, Sadie sighed and let out a little squeak as the vehicle stopped and quickly covered up the bite mark by rolling down her sleeve.
Sergeij opened the back door and eyed them both with disgust as they exited the van.
The entrance to the council was through an old gothic church, followed by a long decent into the catacombs.
“The Council is awaiting you”, a guard said before opening the door for Sadie and Jonathan to the room where they sat.
The hunters called them ancient because they seemed to live forever, which of course wasn’t true. They were four in number. Flamel had specialized in different kinds of guns and ranged weapons, Ravenheart was a kindhearted woman who taught people like Charlotte magic, Belladonna was usually found in the library and Antigonus was their highest leader. Their word was the law by which the hunters abided and those who broke it, were punished throughout.
