An electric bolt shot through me as I sprang up, breathing heavily. All I saw was darkness, no matter how I swayed my head, there was nothing, but darkness. Where am I, again? I tried thing back to how I got here, where ever here was.
Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, my first kiss was stolen by a catfish! I wanted to puke, but puking wouldn't change anything. What that does mean is there is an unknown amount of people somewhere around me. "They could be watching you right now." Thanks, brain for that I really needed that. I sarcastically thought back, but my brain had a point. There were creatures that were out there, that I currently cannot see and could be currently watching me.
I stayed still as I tried to come up with a plan. I am blind right now, but I am not alone. I whistled for Mad, if anyone could help me he could. He would protect me from any danger.
To my surprise, I felt movement at my feet and then a lick on my face. But, if he has been here the whole time, then why wasn't I protected? I started to pet him, even in this confusion I at least still have him.
I sat there petting mad, for God knows how long. When there is nothing else to focus on time seems so irrelevant. I hoped with time my sight would come back, but as minutes ticked by, it didn't seem likely. I sighed, and rubbed Mad's head. "Do you know where we are?" I whispered to Mad, not expecting an answer, but I felt comfort in hearing my voice since I can't see.
"You are where you always have been, trapped. Though I would be more than willing to free you if you answer a simple question. Who are you?" I bulked at the voice. I knew that voice, and I think I will have that voiced forever engrained into my mind.
"Catfish! Who fucking dare you speak to me! You! You . . . ." I trailed off as I touch my lips. Anger, frustration, and fear came over me. I wanted to punch him, I wanted to run, I wanted to break down, but all I did was sit there with Mad on my lap.
Laughter bounced off the wall, "If I am a catfish, then you are a monkey. But that still does not answer, Who are you? And why are you here??" I felt the wind brush my hair back, the feeling of a tail touching my face, then slowly heading behind me.
"I can't tell you who I am." I laughed hard, "For you see I am not too sure who I am myself. So, how pray tell am I suppose to tell you? The other question you already answered, I am here to be free because I have been imprisoned my whole life. Now, Catfish, tell me why I can't see."
My hair moved to the side as I felt a hot breath on my neck. "You can't see because those are blind to what is in front of them. Until you realize that you will be blind forever." Catfish kissed my neck. I whipped around trying to grab him, but he was nowhere to be found, almost like he vanished in thin air. Though his words echoed around as Catfish says "Others will come, maybe to help you, maybe to hurt you. It is up to you o see what is in front of you."
I didn't hear a door open or close, but I was sure he was gone. I could feel it like the room had a much colder feel . . . . Or much lonelier feel. I put my head into Mad's fur as I thought, What can't I see that is right in front of me? It doesn't matter, I need to prepare for the others that Catfish mentioned.
