Dec 12, 2019

We stand upon the edge of greatness. Outstretches the great chasm of the unknown and so he takes one step forward and falls into the dark. Immersion therapy has begun.

The first question people ask me about my dating life is "How?" and that is usually followed by "Why?"

Within the span of one year I dated nearly 100 people (well, maybe even more?) I was going out with 5+ people a week at times and legitimately started losing track of names, my phone got filled with random names and numbers, and eventually people's stories started to blend together.

The eloquence of understanding does not match the stupidity of circumstance, and if I were to be perfectly blunt, some people are incredibly similar.

If I hear the words "I love to laugh" again I'm goiing to seriously have an aneurism. No %$#@ everyone loves to laugh. I don't know a single person I've ever met that said "I hate laughing, it's for nubs," or something like that. Another one I heard a lot is "I'm basically Liz Lemon," because apparently 50% of the girls in the online dating world are that way. It's basically the equivelent of guys taking pics of themselves holding a fish.

*Exhales slowly* okay rant over.

In one year I liked over 10,000 people, talked to about 1000, and asked out about 100 (successfully). My success rate is legit 1% so when I say that 100 isn't that big a deal, it's really not considering the amount of effort I put out. I'm pretty much the only person I know (or my friends know) that considers dating a hobby.

At one point, one of my friends started calling my weeks even and odd weeks. On an even week I was dating someone new. On odd weeks I was only dating one person. I'd say "Oh I'm seeing someone new," and he's reply "Oh it's an odd week."

Yeah, it was bad. I had a problem.

Swipe Right is a set of short stories that chronicle my near professional ability to fall flat on my face in the dating world. Every story is just as outlandish as the last and all of them taught me a valuable lesson I want to impart to you.
