He grabbed my hand and took it to his face. I could see it was like something
was taken from him. I felt full all of a sudden.
“Thank you.”
His words confused me but he no longer looked like a junky. It was so strange
looking at him now. He smiled to me with such a kind expression.
“You are really special.”
Thanks that is just what I wanted to hear when I am about to freak out. He
let go of my hand then started to walk off. Nothing more was said as I
watched him disappear in the distance. I was still in a state of shock. What
had just happened with him and me? Okay this is the time that you need to
get a hold of yourself Zoe. Remember you were suppose to be dead. I can’t
keep freaking out over every little bizzar thing. I took a deep breathe then
smacked my face. The sting made me feel a little better. All of this crazy stuff
happening so close to one another was enough to make me crack.
A gust of wind kind of knocked me out of my stooper. I felt like someone was
there with me. It was a feeling I was starting to get more and more often.
“Zoe....you will be mine.”
I flipped out as turning to see no one. I knew there was something wrong.
That voice was so creepy. It had the hair on my arms standing straight up.
“It is not time for you to see me yet. Soon enough though you and I will be
together.”
What the hell was with this creepy guys voice. I felt a hand touch my face as a
cold breeze blew my hair. I hoped with all my might that was the end of the
guy. Waiting for a few minutes it was silent. When I felt it was safe once
more I began to walk. My thoughts drifted as walking about the junky who’d
followed me. What had truly happened there with us? Was I some kind of
devourer of sin? Or was I just now a freak of nature? One thing was for sure
that my stomach no longer hurt. It was odd but I honestly felt stronger as
well.
A smile came to my face as I passed a store. It was the shop I had always gone
too as a child. The owner never cared who people were but how they acted.
It was so sad when she had died a few years ago. Most people didn’t seem to
care. I spent several hours at her grave that day. I wanted her to know how
much she had meant to me. Licking my lips I continued to walk out of town.
This wasn’t as hard of a task when I had nothing left here any longer. Once
you die in a sense I suppose it does change you.
A small laugh passed my lips as I saw the welcome to Hope sign. This town
was anything but Hope for anyone. It was more like welcome to Hell. The
sign was the same one from a hundred years ago. Most people had wanted to
tear it down. I suppose the historical freaks made them keep it. Either way it
was nice to walk pass it knowing this was the end of here for me.
After walking an hour a car stopped. I managed to get them to take me to a
train station. The ticket vendor was friendly enough as I paid for a ticket to
Gavin. I really had no idea where it was but it was better then here. I sat
down on the bench just waiting for the train to arrive. There was a few
women down from me giggling. They were looking to the young security
guard. I couldn’t help but laugh when he blushed at the girls. It reminded me
of some bad movie scene. The girls glared down at me as whispering. It
didn’t phase me any as I laughed a little more. I stopped laughing after a few
minutes.
A little boy the other way smiled to me. His mother was holding him close.
She seemed to be afraid of my almost white skin, let alone the lips. This was
something I did expect from some people. The little boy waved as I gave a
smile. He seemed to like my appearance. I sat there for a while till the train
pulled up. A man came out of the train yelling it was for Gavin. It wasn’t like
we needed him to be so freaking loud.
Boarding the train was interesting as they checked my bag for any kind of
weapons. I rolled my eyes at them. Once they were done I found a seat. It
wasn’t so bad since it had a lot of padding. Most of the time I heard their
seats were really uncomfortable. Letting out a deep breathe I tried to relax.
The train started to move as a woman almost fell in the aisle. She had a
sweet look to her. It was almost like she was a small town country girl. As she
walked past me I could feel something from her.
To be honest I didn’t know how to explain it. I watched as she sat in the back
of the train cart. Her eyes never left the floor for an hour. She seemed to be
clinging to a picture in her hand. I let out a sigh as thinking why do I give a
damn. Giving up for the moment on my thoughts, I looked out the window.
The night was really dark as we passed a town. It looked like lights just
flashing before my eyes. It was actually kind of neat just seeing something
that was new to me.
One of the workers came down the aisle and said the food cart was open.
Most of the people left their seats. I sat there watching as they all left but her.
For some reason I wanted to ask if she was alright. To be honest with myself
it was strange to just care about random people. I had tended to let their
problems remain just that; their problems. She glanced up for just a moment
to see I was still here. I let out a frustrated sigh with myself. I got up and
walked over to the girl. She glanced up to me with such a deep sadness in her
eyes. It was obvious she was trying not to continue to cry.
“Can I help you?”
Her voice was shaky. Closing my eyes I took in a deep breathe. Hesitant I
place my hand on the one holding the picture. All of a sudden I could see the
same girl. We were in a fancy looking house. The living room set looked to be
more money then I’d ever seen. She was sitting in a blue high fashioned
dress on a small couch.
“Rosa...How many times do I have to tell you he will never be welcomed
here?”
I thought she had a pretty name as least. Rosa looked up to a woman who
had walked into the room. The woman looked to be in her late fifties. For a
moment I didn’t notice anything strange at all. After trying to figure out why I
was seeing her past or something, I noticed blood on the old woman. She
had blood splatter on her silk white dress. Rosa looked up to her with a
forced smile. That is when a gun shot went off several times. Several people
ran into the room.
All of them women who seemed to not be surprised by what just took place.
One of the women laughed. It appeared no one had liked this old lady. Rosa
stood up handing the gun over to what I think is her mother.
“Turn me in or don’t...she deserved it after what she did.”
All the women watched as she walked from the room. I was back in the
present. Rosa looked up to me with a bewildered expression. To be honest I
was kind of bewildered as well. Why did I see her past instead of taking
something. I thought it would be like with the man from my home town.
I took my hand from her and walked back to my seat. Rosa stood up and
followed me.
“What was that all about?”
She sat down across from me. Letting out a sigh I tried to explain. That is
when her expression looked like I was some sort of alien. It made me laugh
some as I knew how she felt. Many people started to return to the train cart.
That was my queue to get up and leave this area. This was all too much of a
headache. So now I see things and take away a lifetime of sin from people.
What was going to be the next freakish thing to happen?
