After not finding him in the corner where she had sat with him before, she ventured into the garden to search. And there he was, admiring the roses. Before she could call out to him, a shadow came out of the bushes and slit the man's throat. She instantly put her hand out, blowing the assassin away with a spell.
“Richard!” She rushed forward, forgetting about the shadow man as she knelt at his side. “Someone get help! Richard, no!” She felt tears in her eyes. But before anything came out of her mouth, it was obvious his life force was gone. People began rushing outside, seeing the girl holding the man’s head in her lap, tears streaming down her cheeks. Her dress was crimson with his blood. She looked up at the guards. “Someone killed him! There is an assassin on the loose! Go find him!”
The guards rushed off in search of the man and Michael was soon at her side. “Why would somebody kill our gardener…?”
She sniffed and wiped the tears from her cheeks. “I know exactly why… Michael, we need-”
“Witch! I knew she was a witch!” Solara looked up to see the king walk down the path, the subjects moving from his way. “I watched her blow the assassin away from the second floor! She has her mothers powers!”
“Father, that is absurd! There is a more important matter at foot!” Michael stood up, staying beside Solara.
“We must get rid of her!” The king growled.
“You were the one who hired the killer!” Solara stood up, narrowing her eyes at the king. “I found my mother’s heart in his room and you wanted to rid of the evidence! You killed this poor old man!”
“Are you accusing the king of murder?! This is treason! The witch is trying to turn my subjects against me!” The crowd was getting riled up and Solara had enough of it.
She lifted her hand and with it, the king rose off the ground. Wind seemed to swirl around her, her short hair blowing in the breeze. “I am calling out a murderer for his deeds!”
“She has the king! She is threatening him! Cease her!” Guards yelled out and the people charged at her.
Michael stepped in front of her. “Forget him and run! Get out of here! I will take care of this!”
There was no way she would be able to hold off so many people. She reluctantly dropped the king to the ground, turning around and turning herself into a bird, flying away from the scene. Her secret was out. She couldn’t go back. She could only hope Michael didn’t suffer her consequences…
