A change is coming.
No, it is here already. In our life we go through changes everyday. Time changes, people change, day to night and morning to evening, life to death, living to decay. Nothing is eternal in this ever changing universe. Everything is changing every moment. Perhaps the only thing constant, is the change itself. But some changes are greater than others. They do not indicate the eternal chakra of inevitability, but something of a greater significance. I had gone through such changes twice in my life. And both time I was too fool to comprehend the significance of the shift.
I was born and raised the first few years of my life in a village. It might not had been the picture perfect scenic village. But to be more accurate, it was a surrealistic one. I think most of our childhood days are quite surrealistic indeed. Where the thin border between dream and reality blurs away. Then the change hit and I was thrown into the realm
of reality.
As I stood paralyzed with utter horror, in the hall so large that it could engulf an ocean like a gulp of water. The ceiling was perhaps higher than infinity, hidden in the dark. Everything around us was imbued with gloom. Apart from the swirling lights high above our heads which moved like fireflies, but I knew those were much larger than any insect, those were the beasts which one would not like to see. The only structures standing around us were few gigantic pillars of stone. Some of them were only ruins, while others loomed high into the sky and eventually obscuring into the darkness. However none of those were in good condition. The massive structures stood around us like the remains of some forgotten era. I knew the time was up, the change which I had feared all along was here, and in such manifestation that I couldn't have imagined even in my darkest dream.
Two dark figures stood in front of me, confronting each other with unsheathed blades. The fierceness in their eyes glistened in the dark. Both were yielding sharp weapons which were capable of killing instantly. The strong odor of sweat and blood smelled like imminent death.
Both took their respective battle stances, and paused for one last moment. Then they jumped.
Much higher in the air, they both clashed with each other. The clang of the two deadly blades rang throughout the eternal void.
