“So are we going to continue the game or what?” Jenny asked breaking the minute of awkward silence that had followed the phone-call. The silence had made me even more anxious than the actual phone-call.
“Sure,” Macey said glancing down at the ground.
“It’s my spin then,” Jenny said feigning excitement as the bottle spun. It landed on Stephanie. “Truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
“What made you want to kiss me when we first met?” I looked over to Jenny as she mumbled the question. I was curious as well. Looks wise, Jenny was a beautiful woman, but was that honestly enough to make a girl try out kissing another girl.
“You were really cute back at the party. I remember you had on a light red top, and your hair was all messy. It also didn’t help that you kept making jokes. Then you started to flirt with me, and I thought your lines were adorable. Right before we kissed, you had leaned in to help me get something out of my eye. All I kept thinking was oh my god she is so close, and oh my god my heart is beating so fast. Then you asked if I had ever kissed a girl, and I could stop thinking no, but I would love to kiss you,” Steph said nostalgically. Damn, that is just too cute of a story. “Hey could me and Jen have a few minutes alone?” Steph asked. Her eyes were basically pleading “get out so I can make-out with with my girlfriend”.
“Totally, hey Macey wanna show me where we will be sleeping tonight?” She gave a nod, and I followed her into the hallway where I collected our bag. Heading upstairs, I stared at Macey’s back. I didn’t really understand why she was being so quiet since we ended the call with our parents. She’s had a very neutral expression since then as-well. Once we had went up the stairs I decided to speak. “Is everything okay? You haven’t been acting like yourself since we ended the call with our parents,” I asked hoping that everything was fine. I wasn’t sure what would have been going on to make her upset. I mean the only bad thing that had happened today was her comments about my weight, but we had resolved that quickly enough.
“I just-” She cut herself off as she opened the door. I stood there looking in at her waiting to say something, but instead she just went over to the bed and fell on it. I heard her say something, but with her face buried into the comforter I couldn’t make it out.
“What was that Mace? I couldn’t understand what you said baby.” She just laid there, and after minute of waiting I went over to her, taking a seat on the edge of the bed. I grabbed a hold of her shoulders and rotated her so that her head was on my lap. She was still face down so I flipped her over, all while being careful not to hurt her. “Now what is wrong baby?”
“I just don’t want you to break up with me,” she said bursting into tears. The hell, where did that come from? Why in the hell does she think I would break up with her? “I was so mean to you earlier, and then dad had to bring up the stupid wedding fund. I scared that you freakout about them wanting us to get married that you would want to dump me.” She went back to sobbing into my damp shorts, and I couldn't figure out what was up. I just sat there stroking her hair until she had calmed down.
“I-I think I’m going to start soon. I’m sorry for how much of a mess I’m being.” I looked down at her and smiled.
“Do you want anything to make you feel better?” I asked looking down at her. She had turned her head so that she was actually looking into my eyes. She is so cute even if she is having a mood swing.
“I just want some cookies, and for you to cuddle up with me in bed and was something on TV.”
“I will go grab some for us. Just get us a comfy spot ready while I’m gone.” I leaned down and pressed a soft kiss into her forehead. Macey shifted her head out of my lap, and and I moved towards the door. I treaded lightly down the stairs, and back to the living room. Stephanie and Jenny were tangled together in a makeout sessions. I coughed hoping to get their attention. They stopped and Jenny buried her head into the crook of Steph’s neck I almost laughed at her reaction. I wonder if she is going to lose her V-card tonight. “Hey Steph, you wouldn’t happy to have any cookies would you and water would you?” I asked as Steph moved to correct her shirt.
“Yeah I think I have some of those prepackaged kind in the cabinet and the water is in the fridge.”
“Thanks,” I said as I moved towards her kitchen.
“They’re on the top shelf,” Steph shouted from the living room.
“Got it!” I hollered back as I opened the cabinet. Ooh they’re the soft chocolate chip kind, my favorite. I snatched them and closed the cabinet door and sped over to the fridge. The cool air crashed into me, and my body trembled. Stephanie's house was rather warm for my liking, and this was a nice break from the slightly uncomfortable room temperature. After letting my body soak in the cold I reached down to grab a couple of bottles of water. Macey could probably use some. Closing the fridge, I started my way back up the stairs. I looked back into the living room as I went back towards the room and the two were back to their face sucking. I silently gave my congrats to the ginger, and took two steps at a time. The only thing illuminating the hallway was the lamplight from Macey and I’s room. I pushed open the door and Macey was there enveloped by a comforter. I let out a low giggle at her head sticking out of the blanket. It was too cute. I crept onto the bed and sat the food on the edge of the bed. My arms spooled around Macey as I took my seat next to her. “So what do you want to watch darling?” I asked pulling some of the blanket over me. Before I had even finished getting the cover all of the way over me Macey was already wrapping herself around me. She pulled me as close as she possibly could.
“I don’t care what we watch, just no cop shows.”
“Alright, no cop shows. How about we watch a romcom. It’ll make you feel better,” I said scrolling through the show options. She nodded yes into my chest, and I turned on a random cheesy movie.
“Did you get the cookies?” She asked looking up from my chest.
“I did. I hope you’re cool with soft chocolate chip,” I said as I reached over for the cookies.
“I love chocolate chip,” She said smiling up at me. I let out a giggle and pulled her a little closer to me. This wasn’t exactly how I had expected the day to go, but any day is great whenever I get to snuggle up in bed and get comfy with Macey.
