Music was pounding as orange, black, white lights would flash over me and others, switching between the three colors. I felt a bit lightheaded but I already paid for the ticket to the dance plus I told Stacie and Alan I would be here. The question was where was Alan?! I sighed checking my phone for the fifteenth time now. Which he still has not replied back to me or the group chat. Neither has his friends.
"So how's the punch?" a voice asked making me jump and turn around quickly to see Stacie. "Sorry." she frowned and I shook my head smiling as I put away my phone.
"It's fine and so is the punch. Just a bit sugary for me." I shrugged taking a sip from the black party cup as her nose scrunched up with her face.
"I knew it! Sawyer said the same. Well, I do have water and lemonade too. I hope the lemonade isn't too sugary." Stacie sighed as my eyes trailed down.
I'm not a pervert! Plus Alan likes her, a lot. But I knew if Alan saw her his eyes would be all over her. She wore a black and dark purple dress that went past her knees and was slightly glittery. Makeup matched with her dress and the heels she wore had spiders on them which matched her spider web like lace sleeves. Her earrings were spiders in a spider web. Lipstick didn't exactly go with everything since it was light pink but it fit perfectly on her. Let's not forget her dark purple painted nails with spider webs.
And here I was just in an old looking orange button up with gray pants I would wear usually for formal outings. The clothes hardly fit me too and my tie I did in a hurry. Pretty sure I didn't put it on right. I needed to stop staring at her even though I been stopped in my head since I was just looking directly at her way but not really seeing her. I was seeing my thoughts, the thoughts of how terrible I looked right now. And how I really wish I didn't come to this dance now.
"Um..do I have something on my face?" Stacie asked feeling her face and I laughed slightly waving my free hand.
"No, you just look very nice." I complimented her with a small smile before I heard the doors open which my eyes wandered over to finally see Alan.
It wasn't just Alan though. Someone shorter was walking by his side. I didn't know who this person was. Guess it was another friend of his. His eyes glazed over before they landed on me. He started moving between groups of people who were talking, dancing, or just standing around to come over. Stacie eventually turned around I guess I was staring in another direction too long. Alan's eyes left me and went on Stacie. They stayed on her as a smile grew on his lips. It was wide and bright, one he probably only made for Stacie.
"Alan! I'm so glad you came." Stacie smiled at him as he came on over with the other person by his side.
"Idiot was locked out." the other person said as Stacie shook her head laughing while Alan's cheeks turned pink.
I took a good look at Alan and I almost gasped. At first, I was just looking for him to yell at him. I wasn't paying attention to what he was wearing. What he wore seemed to match Stacie. The person next to him also seemed to match the two also. Looked like a weird young family. And it made me feel more out of place.
"Who's this?" the other person asked glancing at me and I gulped as the other two's eyes landed on me now too.
"Oh sorry Bob." Alan laughed as he ran his fingers through his hair that seemed a bit different than usual, then I realized the gel. "Sawyer this is Bob, Bob this is Sawyer. Stacie this is Bob if you didn't know." he introduced us all to each other.
"Hey," I replied with a nod at Sawyer who quirked a brow.
"Bob?" Sawyer replied looking at me and I glanced away feeling uncomfortable.
"Well, where are your other two friends?" Stacie asked looking at Alan who now got all the attention causing me to sigh in relief.
"Oh um they should be here eventually," Alan answered quickly making me roll my eyes.
I walked away to the table covered with fake rats, spiders, and spider webs. I got some lemonade that looked like blood as well but with the faded color, you could tell the difference from the punch. My eyes scanned the table for the food since I was getting a bit hungry but a voice startled me making me lose my focus. I turned around to see the person who was with Alan called Sawyer.
"Sorry." they apologized.
"It's fine," I replied relaxing as I searched for food again.
"I just wanted to say I didn't mean any harm about your name," Sawyer explained as I found some jello cubes that looked like slime.
"It's fine," I said grabbing a plate grabbing some jello cubes and places them on my plate.
"No, it's not. It's just a very common name in shows and so on. But don't hear it much in real life. That's quite interesting." they replied smiling very small, would have been unnoticeable.
"Your name is interesting as well," I replied as my face felt a bit warm from the compliment.
"Ah, it's just my last name, sounds better than the first name given to me," they said rolling their eyes. "My mom thought I was a girl."
"Oh!" I blinked and he looked at me like he was looking right through me.
"You thought I was a girl also didn't you?" he sighed and I started to shake my head but stopped.
"Well, I wasn't sure what you were or if you had different pronouns so I just thought of you as some person I guess," I explained and he looked at me but it seemed like his body was more relaxed.
"Well, that's kind of you," he replied sounding a bit giddy. "I rather that then assumptions I guess but I'm used to it so even if you did its alright. Well I have to go help with setting up activities," he said and I nodded before he walked off leaving me on my own once again.
"Just a little chance of sunshine and a lot of hell. . . . hail."
No one knew his name, I barely knew he existed like pretty much everyone else. Kids are bullied and last time I checked you don't always like do introductions right before their bullied, which I'm pretty sure doesn't happen for a reason. Just imagine, "Oh hi sir, my name is Alan and- oh you just got punched..."
