Jarred looked at Lestan when he was leaving their chambers. He managed to convince him to not take his sword, but was that a proper decision? All of a sudden he'd got a bad feeling about this. He took a key and went to lock doors. Then he heard a bird sound a rushed to side room. Falcon was sitting on the window. He petted it and took out the message. He read it with relief. Rohan wrote that he'll come soon and called Tristan as well for help. Karasian army returned home and was tired from war anyway. But Tristian's army was close and wasn't battling lately. So he thought that it made perfect sense.
He took his bag and hid the message inside. Then he took his bow and returned to the table. He sighed and thought what he supposed to do. He wanted to go to his king and inform him about Rohan's answer. He didn't have much time to think, because he heard noises outside of chambers. So they decided to come already? He thought and bent the bow over his shoulder. He hid Lestan's jacket inside his bag and attached Lestan's belt with sword to his bag.
He quickly rushed to hide behind the column and heard that door was opened forcefully. Several men ran inside, apparently searching for someone. Jarred quickly sneaked out from the chambers to see guards lying in their blood. He shook his head and quickly ran through corridor. When he approached King Araman's chambers he saw familiar view, dead guards. Door was opened, so he quickly ran inside to check if someone was inside. There were more bodies, but none of them was his king.
He ran farther to reach King Serry's chambers.
"Stop-" Guard shouted.
"Is my king there?" Jarred interrupted him.
"Yes, but-" Guard was interrupted again.
"Our chambers have been attacked and guards killed, I think it's a coup." Jarred stated.
Suddenly they heard noises of fighting inside.
"What-?" Guard startled.
"Quick, open those doors." Jarred demanded.
Guards quickly opened the doors and Jarred rushed inside. There was couple of guards and both kings fighting with assassins. They probably came through windows. Jarred quickly took his bow and shot one by one each of them. It wasn't too hard, while all of them were distracted with sword fighting.
"Jarred, what is happening here?" Araman asked.
"They attacked our chambers, My King. I think they're executing the coup right now." Jarred answered.
"That can't be, it would mean-" Serry was stopped on the realization.
"Yes, my son was right about it, you've been betrayed by those two." Araman said.
"Where is the Prince now?" Serry asked.
"I don't know Your Majesty; he left our chambers at dawn." Jarred answered.
Both kings sighed and looked at each other.
"There's also one more thing, My King. Rohan replied to the message." Jarred announced.
*********************************************************************
Lestan was surrounded by enemy soldiers. Each of them with a sharp sword waited to attack him. Garsiva stood in front of him with a smirk. Soldiers were apparently waiting for his order to attack. Lestan didn't want to waste any time and he tackled enemy behind him with his back. He hit him with his elbow and quickly grabbed his sword with his right hand. Then prince kicked him to fall on the floor. Immediately he faced enemy to his left. Taking advance at his lowered guard, Lestan grabbed his sword with his left hand and slashed him with sword in his right hand.
Everything happened very fast and soldiers seemed to be in shock. Lestan was armed with two swords now. Jarred was right, he was dangerous even without his own equipment. He quickly attacked next enemies and then they snapped off it and raised their swords. When they started to surround him tighter, he bounced from soldier behind him, jumping above him, still facing him and cutting him from behind. When two halves of enemy soldier were dividing and dropping on the floor with a lot of blood, Lestan rushed to the wall.
When he reached the wall, he bounced from it, rotating with his two swords. All soldiers that were unlucky enough to be on his way didn't have even change to regret it. He found again being surrounded by soldiers, which were ready to attack him again. This time he switched to defense blocking any blow they would deliver. Even if attack was executed from behind him, he would throw one of his swords behind his back to protect himself from the cut.
Of course that blocking wasn't only for defense itself; he used it to perform a counterattack. While enemies were thrown out from their balance by blocking, he used that opportunity to immediately make a wide swung with both swords at opposite directions. Next enemies fell whole in blood. He quickly rolled to another part of the chamber where was still clean. He was tired from the fight and there were still more soldiers to defeat.
"How about you surrender and I spare your lives?" Lestan asked soldiers and they suddenly stopped, apparently thinking about the proposition.
"Kill him." Garsiva ordered breaking their pensiveness.
"Stop it immediately." Lestan demanded with angry voice. Soldiers stopped from being startled by the way he said it. And before Garsiva could interrupt him again, he continued. "You participate in a coup that won't ever succeed. You will face your penalty after it'll be settled, but if you attack me you'll face only pain and death. Better just think and do what's most reasonable here. Admiral Garsiva is a traitor that won't help you in any situation. He doesn't even care if you'll be alive."
"You're good, but even with that skill you can't defeat all of us." One of the guards shouted. Lestan didn't see his face, was probably covered by someone else. It didn't matter for Lestan though.
"With that skill, you say? But you haven't even seen my skill yet." Lestan replied hearing them groaning. "I was holding myself, but I won't anymore if you'll attack me again."
Basing on soldiers' reactions, they evidently didn't believe him. Lestan wasn't bluffing though. He was honest and serious.
"Fighting with you isn't pleasurable, I hate killing. We're not enemies; our kingdoms are allies longer than we live. And you made an oath to protect your king and kingdom, not to act against it."
"That will be quite enough little prince. They're doing it for power, power that Irozo will give them." Garsiva explained.
"Will you be satisfied by selling your own honor and humanity for some scraps of power?" Lestan asked with anger. Soldiers didn't answer, but started whisper to each other apparently phased by the speech.
"Silence," Garsiva demanded from them. "Kill him or I'll kill you." Garsiva was very intimidating. Lestan could understand their fear of him. There was nothing more he could do. Apparently trying to reason with them wouldn't work then. But suddenly two soldiers just ran out from there. Lestan looked at the scene with raised eyebrow and little smirk. Nevertheless rest of soldiers shook their heads and rushed at prince again.
Prince attacked with both swords enemies in front of him and then swung them in circle around him, bending his body backwards to reach those that appeared behind him. Those who were reached fell on the floor and only few left. They rushed on him and then he made a pirouette with swords pointed on his sides. Whirlwind made by him cut the remaining enemies and all were lying on the floor.
"That's impressive, young prince," Garsiva praised him, "especially for someone who doesn't like fighting with swords."
"How do you know that?" Lestan asked with suspicion.
"Irozo knows many things, more that you could imagine," Garsiva answered.
"I doubt it, but I'm open to question him about it, so if you could just get out of the way?" Lestan said without showing any emotions.
"That's not going to happen, bratty prince." Garsiva mocked him, taking out his sword.
Lestan was exhausted, heavily breathing, but tried very hard to hide it from his adversary. He could just turn around and run, but his pride was keeping him at place. Anger started to boil in him and all what he could think to teach that traitor a lesson. He jumped quickly to him swinging his swords on admiral. Admiral blocked it immediately with his sword, but prince didn't give up and made next attacks, which were also blocked.
"I see you have your temper, little brat." Admiral mocked him further with a smirk on his face.
"Said the murderer of his own people," Lestan shouted.
"What are you talking about? You've killed them." Garsiva stated.
"No, you have. You knew exactly that they wouldn't defeat me. You wanted them to die only that they would wore me out. You're a coward to face me honorably, but I shouldn't be surprised, those who plot against their own king have no honor." Lestan said.
Garsiva seemed to be offended by those words and started attack angrily himself. Prince was pushed away, but parried every blow without a problem. Then Lestan switched to offense again, pushing admiral with his blows forcing him to step back. When they were close to window, admiral braced himself to stand firmly.
Lestan then used that opportunity to cut him in left arm. Garsiva screamed and then squeezed the handle of his sword and swung on the prince. Lestan blocked attack with both swords independently. Attack seemed to be very strong, so if one sword couldn't stop it then two swords would. Unexpectedly blade of Garsiva's sword started to glow and sliced through Lestan's blades. Prince would never expect that and before he could react to that, enemy blade cut his left eyebrow.
Lestan immediately dropped handles of broken swords and jumped backwards. His wound burned on him severely, so he grabbed it reflexively with his both hands while screaming sorely.
"Son of a bitch," Lestan cried.
"Such inappropriate language in mouth of a royal member," Garsiva smirked.
Lestan never felt such pain before. He could barely stand and his sight in right eye was getting blurry. More on top of it, some soldiers stand up. He never has intension to kill any of them, so it wasn't strange that some of them would only be knocked down instead of be dead.
Nevertheless he was in no shape to fight anymore and surrounded again by enemy soldiers, who were after his blood.
