That night we ate at the lake and then Vi took us back to his house. For anyone who has worked away from home for a week without a proper shower, you know that the feeling of scolding hot water rushing down your skin is probably the best thing in the world. The grime and fatigue being sapped away by each droplet of water. The weight of the week washed away.
Finally stepping out of the long shower, I grabbed my towel and dried off. As I opened the bathroom door steam flooded out. Waiting for me was Colt, sliding past me and into the room. The other thing waiting was a true beauty. A soft warm bed.
Quickly I put on some pajama bottoms and hopped into bed. The instant my head hit the pillow -which may I say, judging by its softness it was probably made by a god- I fell asleep.
The next day Vi let us sleep late. I woke up to the smell of... Bacon? Bacon and pancakes. I reached behind me, patting where Colt was supposed to be sleeping.
Is he cooking?
Slowly I got out of bed and headed downstairs into the dining room. It felt weird waking up by myself. Usually, Colt would have to wake me up. Come to think of it I don't remember the last time I got to sleep this late.
With another glance at the digital clock that sat next the bed crafted by divinity, it was confirmed. If I ever slept past ten in the orphanage then I would never be waking up.
Walking into the room I saw Vi and Colt leisurely munching on their food. A stack of pancakes and a plate of bacon placed between them.
I sat down at the table, an empty plate already set out for me. Grabbing a few pancakes and some bacon, I did as any well mannered teenager would. I chowed down. At least I did until an awkward silence settled over the table as Colt stared at me.
"It's not very polite to start eating without saying good morning Kal," Said Colt, getting back to his food.
Quietly I mumbled a "Good morning" through bites.
"It's fine" chuckled Virgo. "Now why don't I tell you about what we are going to be doing for the next few days."
Through breakfast, Vi explained that for the Academy Entrance Exam we need a team of five people. We would be splitting up to gather the group. Vi would go off to convince someone named Rylee while Colt and I go after a pair of twins, Lucy and Lana.
"Are you sure about this?" I said after nearly swallowing a pancake whole. "Don't you think you should be there just in case they don't like us or something,"
"I doubt they will be very hard to convince," Vi smiled before going back to his plate.
When we finished eating Vi had us get dressed and we headed out towards the edge of the territory again. After passing through a large gate we followed Vi past a small town at its exit and out to a large field.
Then finally he stopped, grabbing our weapons from his back and throwing them at us as he turned around.
"Let's see what all two learned at that lake"
