The most important job for a plushie is to be a protector for a child. Their job is to watch over the child day and night, especially at night, when evil monsters and nightmares try to creep on the child. Their watchful eyes keep monsters away and comforting hug drives away the bad feeling caused by nightmares. They are always ready to offer comfort and a shoulder to cry on. Whenever the child feels down or scared, the plushie is there, ready to listen, because all they want is their child’s happiness.

They are there for the good times too. Nothing gives a plushie greater joy than seeing their child happy. They gladly take part in their plays and games, even when they become a bit too rough and result in injuries. Almost every child has a good toy surgeon in the house, so the plushie doesn’t need to worry about the ripped arm or lost button. They will be fixed so they can continue to serve in their duty.

The most important thing about plushies is that they stay by their child’s side as long as it’s needed. Some are ready to leave their plushies earlier and continue their journey alone, but some keep their companions even through all adulthood. The role of a protector changes to the role of a friend and companion, almost like a family member who has been there to witness all the ups and downs of life.

Most plushies will retire from their guardian job as their child reaches adulthood but there are some who get the special honour of guarding their child’s children. The plushie will be passed down to the new baby and with the great life experience the plushie has gathered with their first child, they will take care of the new child and teach them all the important things about life.
