Katriona—Wol, Year 13,147

The deliciously fried tortilla crunches satisfyingly as Katriona bites into it. Golden honey drips onto her fingers and she licks it off. The cinnamon sugar that dusts the sopaipilla gives it a sparkle and sizzles on her tongue. She saves the cloud of whipped cream in the middle for last, eating it in one bite, but letting it dissolve in her mouth before swallowing.

Katriona grins at her friend, Dalina, who brought them here because she knows Katri loves this restaurant. She doesn’t see, though, because she is trying to get honey off of her jeans and cursing lightly- not everyone loves this ethnic food as much as Katri. She’s been obsessed ever since they opened the first restaurant in her city. The food is so exotic and strange, but she loves the unique combinations of flavors and textures.

Katriona just can’t get enough of this Earthian food.

She has no interest in ever visiting Earth. Wol is just fine with her. But she does wholeheartedly support the planetary exploration program, if only because it brings her a whole new set of food options. Who would ever imagine rolling up raw fish in rice anyways, but she can’t get enough of it.

Unfortunately, Earthian food is ridiculously expensive, especially authentic stuff in restaurants like this one, since the head chef himself went on an exploration program that lasted almost ten years, before coming back with boxes full of spices, and a book stuffed with recipes. Rumor is, he’s going to release an Earthian cookbook at the end of the year, which Katriona hopes her partner will buy for her.

In the meanwhile, Katriona devotes a huge part of her monthly spending budget on Earthian food. Everyone has their priorities, after all.
