The man lead me to the giant eagle.  He swung open a door on the back of the eagle, revealing a high-tech room.  Now, when you hear giant eagle, you're probably thinking the eagle is about as tall as yourself and maybe thrice as wide.  No.  The eagle was about as large as a four-story house.

So the guy ushered me into the eagle and guided me through a series of turns and stairs.  At last, we came to a room about the size of your average living room.  This room looked like a doctor's waiting room, minus the check-in area and was way more futuristic.  

So maybe it's the year 2832, but everyday life is still as it was hundreds of years ago, maybe even less high tech.  We don't have tablets or computers unless you're really rich since, with World War 3, the army requires a lot of money.  Where do they get the money? Us citizens, of course!  So most of the high-tech equipment goes to the army, which I guess is fair since they're saving our lives but...still, it seems a bit ridiculous.

The soldier made me sit down and left the room, making me alone in a room in a giant eagle on the middle of the street.  I sat there patiently, reading a book I had brought with me.  You're not supposed to bring anything to the Filtering since they provide you with clothes and food, but I figured if I hid the book somewhere before the Filtering and retrieved it after (if I survive, of course), I would be fine.

I was absolutely lost in the book when a monotone female's voice rang out. 

"Please buckle up, we are preparing for liftoff, I repeat, please buckle up, we are preparing for liftoff.  Please be seated while liftoff takes place.  Thank you."

Liftoff? So I guess this eagle is a plane of some sort.  I realized that there was a buckle built into my seat, much like the buckle on a car.  I buckled and continued reading.  

Liftoff was so smooth I didn't feel a thing and I didn't realize we were actually in the sky until a soldier came in to take me to another room.

I again was lead through multiple stairs and turns.  At last, we reached the destination, a small room furnished with only a glass desk and two white chairs.  I sat down and waited, as instructed by the soldier who had to lead me to the room.  

After much waiting, a man wearing a completely white tux and a scarlet tie came into the room.  He was about 30 years old and had blonde hair and green eyes.  

"Hello Amaranth," the man said in a soft voice. "I'm President Bromeliad."
