I muttered a thank you and left the men to their drinking. Why would a father want their own child to be killed? 

"You okay?" 

"Huh?" When did Colt get there? 

"You were standing for a while. People were starting to stare," said Colt. "Let's go," he continued, nudging me with a smile.

"He wanted hunters to come to kill his kids" I mumbled, staring at the ground. "Why would anyone want to kill their kids?"  

"Same reason some people would hunt those kids" 

"And why's that?"

"Cause they suck," He said. "Now c'mon, where did they say the twins were?" 

"In the woods over there" I stated, pointing past the bar. 

With newfound vigor, we headed out of town and into the woods. They were surprisingly humid. As if all the moisture on the way here was sucked up. Yet all that moisture did nothing for the heat. In the town, it had cooled down but the moment we stepped in the woods it was like we were back in the desert.

As we got farther into the woods it went from a nice green scene to a bunch of burnt leaves and dead trunks. Please don't tell me they did this. Taking a moment to gather some courage, I cupped my hands around my mouth and yelled. "Lucy! Lana!" 

As soon as the words left my mouth a fist met it. Flood of heat crashing across my skin as I am thrown to the ground. What's with me and getting thrown down all the time? Can't I just stand in peace? Anyways, when I looked up I saw two people, one a girl with long brown hair and olive skin. The other a boy nearly identical but with short hair.  I only caught her eyes for a moment, luckily, I'm pretty sure if I looked her in the eyes for more than a second, her death glare would literally kill me. 

"Lucy! You can't just go and punch someone!" scolded the boy.

"But what if they were hunters" She protested, her focus shifting away from me. 

Confused, I looked at Colt, only to find him also stunned. 

"If they were hunters then they wouldn't have called our names!" The boy continued. "Also please call me Luke. None of that Lana crap." He said, focused back on the two of us. In astonished confusion, I just nodded. 

"Fine" the girl, Lucy, said. "Then why are you two here and what do you want with us." 

"We were sent here to recruit you two for a squad. We need three more people to enter the academy. Our teacher is getting the other," explained Colt.

"No." Stated Lucy. She scares me. She's always so aggressive. Kinda makes me relieved she refused so fast. 

"Come on Lucy, at least hear them out," pleaded Luke, slightly more timid than before. He must be the voice of reason between the two. 

"Fine, why should we join up with you" 

As if prepared for the question Colt pulled out his I.D. 

"This is the monthly allowance," he said.

Bribing them. We are bribing them. Since it's Vi's plan I really shouldn't be surprised.

For a second they whispered to each other before answering in unison. 

"Sure, we'll join!"
