We got to the test in no time. Right now you must be wondering why I wanted to to the test. I just wanted to commit suicide. If I took the test, I would be able to die quickly and painlessly.
I got off the plane once we landed and waited for my turn in the test. Before I knew it, a tall lady with a shiny, black bun ushered me into a room that was completely empty except for two doors.
"You have exactly ten minutes to finish the tests. If you are still in the Filtering after ten minutes, the metal plate on the ceiling will fall and crush you," she said.
I looked up and saw a bloodstained sheet of metal.
"The test consists of four rooms that you must escape. The last room will have a row of quick-killing poisons and one bottle of water. You will be required to drink one and only one of the bottles. Choose wisely then. Good luck!" she said and shut the door behind me.
A plan formed in my mind. I had to get to the last room, poison myself, and die. But for now, I had to try and get there.
I figured that I had to escape this first room to move on, so I looked around the room and spotted a crevice in the ground. I ran my finger over it and the crevice immediately popped open to reveal a key, a knife, and a bow and arrows. I jammed the knife in my boot, slung the bow and arrow on my shoulder, and inserted the key into a keyhole in the doorknob. The door swung open, revealing a large pit of water blocking my way to another door. There was no way to the other side, but to swim, so I launched into a strong breaststroke. I got to the surface in no time and I wasted no time trying to dry off.
The next room was a long line of walls each about a foot thick and as tall as myself and a climbing wall as tall as your average five-story house. I checked my watch. I had eight minutes left. I pulled myself onto the first wall and was able to count the walls from there. There were six walls and each of them took about thirty seconds each. I had to hurry up.
I saw that the walls were about a yard across from each other, so if I was careful, I could jump from wall to wall. I took a deep breath and leaped. I almost overdid the jump, but I made it. I repeated the process until I reached the climbing wall. I pulled out my knife to help me climb. I climbed until my hands were getting tired. I knew that I had to hurry since I had only four minutes left so I pushed myself to keep climbing. Eventually, I reached to top. I again wasted no time and rushed to the third door.
The third room was a wide, 100-yard conveyer belt that was going very fast. The only way to get across was to run quickly, so I tossed my few possessions to the other side to lose weight and dashed across the belt. I managed to get across while clutching a stitch in my side. I checked my watch. Only two more minutes left.
I entered the last room and saw a long line of bottles varying in size and color and a piece of paper that read:
The first and last are both deadly The second you know already The third you shouldn't take directly Fourth tastes like apple envy The fifth has a consistency like jelly The bottles blue are acidic The bottles green are as good as sulfur The bottles orange I shall not say
I read the paper over twice and decided on drinking the second bottle that was green. Sulfur was bad so I figured that the green bottle would be terrible. I prepared to die and I gulped down the water. It tasted like nothing and felt like nothing so I realized that there might be a little delay. I plopped down on the floor and glanced at my watch. One more minute left. I pulled out my knife and started to pick at my nails. 50 seconds. 40 seconds. 30. Why wasn't anything happening? 20 seconds. I raised the knife above my chest. If the poison wasn't going to do anything, then my knife would. 10. 9. 8. I plunged the knife into my chest. Pain flared. My vision blurred. My lungs were completely useless. I soon fell into darkness and all my senses were lost.
I was dead.
