Honey, they say, never spoils.
But people do.
There was a time when I thought money, status, and power could solve it all. That respect and influence naturally came with having them.
That love was something tangible. Something bought, traded, exchanged, contracted... Something you stumbled into after a bit too much whiskey. I mistook nightly pleasures for quality time and fleeting passion for something far deeper.
I was wrong.
Dead wrong.
I guess I never knew what any of it meant to begin with. Not until I lost everything did I understand that love, respect, and belonging could never be bought. By the time I learned the difference, everything I thought was worth protecting was already gone...Only for me to realize there had never been any room for me at all.
I spent twenty-six years chasing things I never knew could disappear with the snap of a finger, or a lifetime of stupid mistakes.
But through it all, I keep turning the page.
