After Liam made his call, he told me that his friends would be there in the night or early in the morning. I remember nodding but I must’ve fallen asleep between there and now because I woke up with lines all over my arms. I yawned and lazily looked at the walls of my room and rolled my shoulders. My back still felt like someone ran over it with a tractor and it hurt to move.
As if people could sense my boredom, the door opened and the rattling told me that someone brought food. My stomach perked up with anticipation as Liam walked through the door with a plate of food. Behind him were two men I’ve never seen before, and I quickly became flabbergasted.
He had wings.
35. I knew I wasn't alone.
He caught eye contact with me and I bore into those red eyes until Liam spoke.
“Kye, I brought you some food” He placed a tray of jelly toast, bacon, and orange juice on the small table next to me. He leaned down, lightly grabbed my shoulders, and lifted me up into a sitting position. A couple grunts fell through my tightly closed lips as I was being repositioned. As soon as Liam let go, my wings moved from my back to around my shoulders. I saw the man with the wings stare intently at me as Liam sat the food on my lap.
“Does it hurt when you move them?” The man with the wings asked. He had white hair as pristine as porcelain and his crimson eyes was a stark contrast. He looked similar to my age, but taller. The man next to him looked at me with curious eyes and gave off an endearing smile once he grabbed my eye contact. I returned it and turned back to the boy with the white hair.
“Just a little bit” I tried to move them but they decided to stay still. “It’s still hard to control them”
The boy went to the bed and his wings shuddered around him.
“See you might need to move them more, but I know at first moving them will be hard. When mine first grew I had no idea how to move them either.” The boy pointed at his wings.
I thought about his words. “Did they hurt when they sprouted?”
“...A little bit actually, it was kind of a surprise at the time. It hurt for a while beforehand and then they kind of.. Just popped out? The tail they came with it though didn't help much either.” The boy snorted and crossed his arms, while his “tail” flicked and scraped against the floor.
I looked at his tail that I didn’t notice before. I followed its movements but my wings crowded around me and shielded my vision. “I’m sorry,” I looked back at the two men who were now near my bed. “I’m Kye and I’m guessing you’re the two guys Liam called”
The taller man with black hair went and wrapped his arm around the younger boy’s waist and smiled down at me.
“Yes I received Liam’s call and since my love was interested in seeing other communities as well, it worked out to come here anyway.”
I looked at my food and thought to myself. Liam brought some of friends, and by the looks of it, they came to help me. I glanced at the boy with the white hair and I smiled. He returned it and my wings closed in on me.
36. Hopefully, I can make some friends.
“Well, I’m glad you both came. Hopefully it wasn’t an inconvenience for the both of you” I picked up some toast and bit a small corner of it. He noticed the boy eyeing the bacon and I offered him a piece.
The boy munched on the piece happily but eyed me as he did with a weird expression.
“See…. it’s not going to be easy for you to learn to control your wings if you don't eat well either, you want them in good condition. They are very delicate and a bad diet makes it hard to use ‘em. As I learned from experience.” The boy rolled his eyes.
I blinked in surprise. “You sound like Donna” I gave a light laugh but the boy didn’t return it. I waved it off and continued with my toast.
“Well whoever Donna is she sounds smart. You are fricking skinny as hell! Worse than I was! Right Obsidian?!” The boy looked over at the man who was slightly hugging him.
Obsidian nodded and arched an eyebrow at me.
“Indeed he is pretty small, maybe even smaller than you were when I first met you.”
“Well, Kye’s situation is a bit complicated. Xavier’s Beta, Kyle and his wife Donna, found Kye in the basement of a loyal follower’s house. He was skin and bones and stuck in a cage for years until we found him about a week ago” Liam notified them.
The younger boy pursed his lips and nodded.
“Sounds pretty bad, I was in a similar situation similar once but….not nearly as bad I guess. But… just a week ago?... WELP I guess now's the time to start stuffing the boy and spoiling him...right? Liam was it?” The boy chuckled.
Liam caught on and nodded with a smile. “Oh yes for sure. He is my mate after all”
The boy gave Liam a grin.
“I bet your going to be just as bad as Obsidian aren’t ya?” The boy smirked.
Liam gave a hearty laugh that made me smile unconsciously. “I plan on being ten-times worse”
“....Oh dear god Kye run!” The boy looked at me petrified and then burst out laughing.
I looked at him confused, but just smiled and nodded. “May I ask how long you are staying here?” I already felt attached to my new visitors and I didn’t want them to leave anytime soon.
The boy shrugged.
“Well since its summer vacation for me...I can stay for around a month or so? I should at least stay until you can sort of control your wings?”
My eyes widened. “You’d be willing to stay that long? To help me?”
The boy looked at me in confusion.
“It’s not like im giving you a million dollars or anything, it’s not that big a deal. Plus, I’m interested in learning about other supernaturals so this will be a good experience for me as well.”
“Sorry, I’m just shocked is all” I shook my head and put my toast down on the plate. Crumbs littered my sheets like ants on a log and I looked back up at them. “I don’t even know your names”
“Ah…. my name is Zine Hollow and this guy over here is my fiance Obsidian Howzer.”
