Secrets That Destroy

Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Jun 19, 2019

Camilla POV

School is over and I have to go to detention. Great.

I walked into Miss Ella's class to await my doom.

I sat down and saw nobody else was there. Obviously Jonathan would be late and little Miss Barbie doll was probably snogging a guy in our grade.

I brought out my homework –who gives homework on the first day of school– and started doing it. Might as well do something productive during detention.

Thirty minutes later, Jonathan walked in beside Barbie.

I frowned. I thought Jonathan hated her, but I just shook my head and continued my work.

Throughout detention, Jonathan tried talking to me but I ignored him because I was in no mood to talk with this idiot right now while Barbie was trying her best to flirt with him and he ignored her trying to get my attention.

As soon as detention was over, I got up and ran out of the school hoping to get away from him but he chased me.

When he caught up to me, he grabbed my hand and dragged me into him then held me by my shoulders.

"Why are you ignoring me? Did I do anything wrong?" He asked looking confused.

"I've spent 2 hours in detention because of you and you ask me what's wrong?" I asked with fury bubbling under the surface.

"You didn't seem so mad about it before, what happened?" He asked with an exasperated sigh.

"When you're facing your impending doom it's better to ignore it and act like nothing's wrong instead of thinking about it all the time!" I yelled and tried to run out of his grip but he was too strong.

"I know it's not the detention that's bothering you and right now I'm just trying to help so stop being such a brat!" He said angrily.

"If I'm being such a brat then you should leave me alone and let me live in peace!" I yelled.

I was sick of him right now. If not him right now I'd be home and not have to worry about what my mother and him would do to me for getting home so late and I would have been able to keep a reign on my anger like I always have.

I couldn't break out of his hold so I did the next best thing. I looked down and counted to ten trying to calm down.

When I looked up again, I saw Jonathan was looking at me with a look that said please-I-hope-she-doesn't-cry-on-me.

"What were you doing with Ba- I mean Katie?" I asked.

The look on his face changed into a smirk.

"So you were jealous? If it makes you feel any better, she was harassing me and I was trying to walk away from her so if coming with her gave you any impressions, don't think much about it." He said.

As much as I was glad to hear there was nothing going on between them I frowned.

"I'm not jealous." I said.

"Sure you aren't." He said and winked.

I rolled my eyes and turned to walk away when he stopped me.

"How are you getting home?" He asked.

I shrugged, "I'll probably walk home since the bus is gone."

"No need, I'll take you home." He said.

I eyed him suspiciously, "No thanks. I'd rather not take my chances."

He frowned, "Do you really think I'll do anything to you on this trip?"

I didn't think he would do anything on this trip but I couldn't speak for his later action so I'd rather not have him know my house address.

"I just don't like people knowing my address and I don't trust you." I said with my hands on my hips.

He put a hand on his heart and said, "That really hurt Milla."

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes and walked away.

* * * * *

After a while I was finally home. With my heart pounding like I was walking to my execution –which I was– I walked into the house and shut the door behind me. Maybe he wouldn't be around.

"Well, well, well. See you coming home by 6 when I'm pretty sure you told me classes ended by 3." A voice that I hoped I wouldn't have to hear said. That voice meant he was around and nothing good ever came from that.

I stood frozen waiting for what he'll say next. I knew it wouldn't be good but if I stayed quiet through it at least he can't get any angrier.

"Your mother and I were worried about you and now, I think it's time for your punishment. I'm sorry your mother isn't here to join me but I promise by the time I'm done with you, you won't even notice." He whispered in my ear.

I knew this was coming but that didn't prepare me for it. It never did.

He removed his belt and gave me a sadistic smile.

"If you stay quiet and still I promise you this will hurt less." He said.
